    I went through years of diagnostic testing before my doctor found it after a laparoscopic procedure. I’d never heard of it. When I finally had a diagnosis, I was relieved. I knew it wasn’t all in my head. My symptoms became almost constant and started to make it difficult to eat. I guess my uterus was so enlarged, every time I digested food, I started having painful contractions. I was happy to say goodbye to my uterus.

I'd never heard of it before and had previously thought I had endometriosis or PMDD but no cysts showed up in ultrasounds previously. I've tried a lot of treatments & nothing has helped enough to improve my quality of life-- I can't go to college or hold a job due to the pain, fatigue, constant bleeding, etc. It's like you said, you're aware of your uterus 24/7. I am 48 years old and I have been suffering with Adenomyosis since 2015. I still don’t want to remove my uterus; I also have anemia and I get transfusion and I have tried some of medicine. I had a UFE which it works for almost 2 years, but my menstrual bleeding is back. I don’t know what else to do. I get a lot of pain too.
    They have Dr in Europa, China, India, etc that do adenomyosis remover from the uterus, but they don't remove the Uterus like here in the USA. In the USA they only want to remove the Uterus and not bother helping the female to keep their Uterus which is sad. They should take classes from the others Dr who know how to remove the Adenomyosis.

    I’ve just had an ultrasound of which adenomyosis is suspected but not officially diagnosed. I have been on birth control pills for years…a very low dose birth control. My periods are excruciatingly painful if I am not on birth control. Would it be recommended for me to go off of my birth control and begin estrogen blocking therapy? What happens after the therapy? Am I then “cured” of adenomyosis or will it then return? I think I need to go see a urogynocologist as my doctor is not overly helpful.

    Hi Dr. Thank you for the video. I'm awaiting a bilateral oophorectomy. Just wondered if it will stop the symptoms of adeno or if they should be removing my uterus too?
    Thanks x

    • @VitalabFertility
      @VitalabFertility  3 роки тому

      Hi there - why are they removing your ovaries?
      - if your uterus is removed, then yes the adenomyosis symptoms will stop as the disease is in your Uterus, thus if removed then the source of the symptoms are removed.
      If however you have Endometriosis - that is found outside the uterus (such as how you explaining perhaps with your oophorectomy) then perhaps it will help those symptoms.
      But these are two different diseases (Adeno or Endo) as their locations vary - so it is important you know which one you have - or even if you have both - as then different surgeries would be needed to stop one or all of the symptoms you are experiencing, if you are no longer wanting to have children ofcourse.

    What issues arise with a hysterectomy down the road?
    A friend's wife was having issues with too many frequent UTIs and the issue was wrongly diagnosed suspecting the kidneys.

      @VitalabFertility  Рік тому

      Hello Aparna, thank you for your question. The issue is that adenomyosis will require hormonal treatment as well as surgery in later life and as you are in menopause and your family is complete- if your symptoms are severe then a hysterectomy would be advised. The only way to fully stop adenomyosis is with a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus). Since adenomyosis causes diffuse, often fingerlike projections of tissue to invade the uterine wall, we can’t just go in and remove the abnormal tissue like we might be able to do with fibroids. The ovaries and fallopian tubes can stay in place.

    Thank you so much doctor for this very informative vedio. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis three years back. Firstly had a mirena placed, then had to take it off because I had to undergo cone biopsy as my gynaecologist found a suspicious lesion on my cervix.(Its' histopathological diagnosis was a nabothian cyst). Then temporarily I was placed on contraceptive pills and now I wish to have a more permanent solution. I already have one child. Would you recommend hysterectomy for me?

    May I know what medication is given to people with adenomyosis?

    • @VitalabFertility
      @VitalabFertility  3 роки тому +3

      Ofcourse, there are other estrogen blocking medications which you can speak to your DOCTOR about and ask them if they would recommend for you and the length of use. Examples: a) GNRH analogs or antagonists and/or b) anti estrogens in the form of Letrazole, Tamoxifen, etc. These are scripted meds which you will need to be monitored by your doctor whilst using & to find the right medication and dosage for you.

      Will these meds reduce the size of the uterus Doc?

    • @VitalabFertility
      @VitalabFertility  2 роки тому

      @@onoshiovibes3802 yes the meds help reduce the disease which in turns means the size of the uterus, as typically the uterus is enlarged because of the disease.

      Hi there, If not contraindicated I would suggest using Dienogest either on its own or in combination with some estrogen like a pill called Qlaira. Dr Yossi

    As a post menopausal woman with adenomyosis would it be not beneficial then to be on a estradiol patch because it feeds off of estrogen? I was using the patch and continued to bleed off and on for months. As soon as I stopped the patch the bleeding ceased.
