    In this video I have this Mercedes B class w245 and I will be replacing the blower fan as it keep blowing the resistor that controls the fan.
    The fan has developed a some sort of resistance when turning and as a result it blows the resistor after a few days of use.

    Likewise mine didn't have the retaining screw either. It's a complete pain to take apart but couldn't have done it without your video, many thanks.

    I want to thank you for making this video, it has been very helpful - especially the comments. I've replaced two blower fans and two resistor packs in my 2007 w169 A150 over the last three years. The first pack and fan died due to water in the cabin filter housing, no idea why this latest fan died. Great cars, rubbish heaters!

      You welcome, and thanks for the comment, yeah great cars but the heater blower location not the greatest.

    Great video again. Who needs 2 hands when you can replace the blower with one hand, hehe. Good job dude and thanks for sharing.
    Keep up the good job. Greetings from Spain.

    Thanks again for this video. I was able to change my stuck blower fan myself. I have the automatic type aircon so the fan was slightly different. It has a resistor component built into it. Not a separate resistor piece like this one. Otherwise very similar. It was a mission to carefully reassemble the new fan inside the confined space but did it and it works! Some other tips, there are some slots for the screw holes to align between fan and cover and the screw were torx T10 type.

    Also check this. There is a drain hole below the cabin filter. If it blocks then water enters the heater air input and can short out the ballast resistor and fill the battery compartment with water. Eventually the battery will short also. I used a trombone brush/snake to clear the drain pipe after removing the filter.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Рік тому +1

      Yes thats a very good tip to give here, I have seen that happen to a few a classes as well need to clean the pollen filter/cabin filter drain hole, to avoid water going into the resistor and the fan motor.

      My problem was that , even though the resistor is half year new , the motor works on and off...I have to bang it with a hammer, or something to start working again...my belief it it the motor itself as , when is working all the 5 grades of the fan are working....this , maybe useful for others....cheers

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Рік тому +1

      well its easy enough to check if the resistor is in the same side as the vid, and if it is then it more likely be that its the same arrangement. hope this helps.

      Just for future reference, I have a leftie too and the setup is the same, but the right side is the passenger seat, so the other parts look a bit different (e.g. no steering wheel ;)) but the method worked like a charm.

    I tried this and like people mentioned it took ages to get the fan motor to mate with the plastic housing.When I turned it on it doesn't work on setting 1, but does on 2-5.Also it sounds a lot louder, like a vacuum cleaner! Is it possible to connect the plastic housing to the wrong set of holes on the motor?

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  8 місяців тому

      Well it sounds like the motor is under some kind of resistance , something touching it or its at an angle, yeas the holes need to match otherwise the wires would be in the wrong place. I don't think you can fit it to the wrong set of holes but it might not be sitting properly or you have a faulty new fan.

      Thank you. I will have to try that. The pirate part fan I bought is slightly different to the original part. Instead of threaded holes built into the fan, the two parts are held together by bolts and nuts. As it’s impossible to hold the nuts on the other side while screwing in the bolts, I can’t use the method shown in this video, although I did use this method to remove the old one. I will try the steering column method.

    • @DaringBeefcake

      It is very common for the motor to fail and make the resistor or fuse blow. So I would think is more to do with the motor.

    Car is good, but this fan system is terrible.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Рік тому

      It isn’t great, it’s the pollen filter that usually gets wet and allows water to get into the area. Make sure you check you pollen filter and that the area is not full of dirt, also that the cover is properly closed.
