- Today I am doing some more resin experiments - what happens when you add salt and sugar to resin? Have you tried it before?
I haven't, so lets go on this journey together!

Now I want to get out of bed and see what rock salt does in clear liquid sculpey. This happens every time I watch crafting videos at bedtime! 🤣
😂 Hope you managed to get some sleep lol
@@Yummicookie1979 ooh wow that's fascinating. I was hoping you did find out!
Try a small mound of salt and Drip small amount of resin over the salt. Mix it into clumps to use as tiny rocks for geodes. I've never tried with "rock" salt. Will try that on my next project.
What a brilliant idea, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please consider subscribing if you haven't already x
Awesome idea, TFS :)
Love the effects, they'd be perfect for fake ice cubes and melting snowmen. Thank you loads xx
@@appleoneill5135 ooh great idea. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching 💜
Thank you to take the time and materials to experiment and share. You are so kind
Thank you so much for watching and commenting 💜 hope you found it useful
My idea was to pour the non transparent resin into mold and fill 3/4 of the way up. Let cure. Add a thin layer of resin then put on a layer of rock salt. Do not cover rock salt with resin. Once cured try to get rock salt off with your hand or pick as much as possible or put in water and let it disolve off. It should leave a druzy effect. Then brush mica powder over that crystal like surface and top off with black resin or whatever you would like. I bet the results would be pretty.
Ooh that's such a clever idea, I'm going to have to try that!
@CreatewithSqudgeCraft I meant use transparent resin 😀 mis type lol
@@kimclayton5814 👍🏻
🤍 your mixing cups!!! Great experiments, thank you!!!! Resin experiments are fabulous, especially the way you did, with controls. 😊
Aww thank you so much. I love science, so I had to have controls lol
Cool experiment, I've often wondered about salt and sugar but haven't tried them so thanks for saving me the time lol. I love how the rock salt came out, I didn't even mind the bubbles on that one :).
You are most welcome 💜 it was so much fun. Is there anything else you'd like to see? I'm happy to do some more experiments x
Idea. Grow salt or sugar crystals. You can add food coloring to get a desired color if you want. Then put the crystal in the epoxy. Going to have to let the epoxy set some so the crystal or crystals do not just fall to the bottom
Ooh great idea 💡💜
How to grow sugar crystal
@@fabfam2816
1. mix 3 cups of sugar 1 cup of water
2. Put it in a pot on the stove and stir continuously
3. Stir tlll all the sugar has desolved
It will at first look cloudy continue stirring till it is clear and bubbling
WARNING THE SOLUTION IS HOT
4. Let it cool for 5 - 10 min
5. Pour the solution into a jar
6. Mix desired color of edible food coloring
7. Find a way to hang a string or stick from the center of the jar into the solution
I use a pencil and painters tape to hold a Popsicle stick usually
Put it in by the window that gets the most light in the house
8. Check on it every day to see the crystals growing I wait 5-7 days for the desired I want. Can take longer in the colder months. Don't move the jar if it can be avoided
9. Enjoy eating rock candy
Per Daniel Cooper's experimentation put a little clear elmers glue on a cocktail stick and mix it in the resin. It will thicken it and keep things suspended in the resin so it doesn't settle to the bottom.
Wow what a great idea, not heard of Daniel so thanks
I've used Epsom Salts and it's a lovely effect. It's my coast line videos.
Ooh, such a great idea too. Thanks 💜👍🏻 x
Brilliant thanks. I am also just the messiest crafter, I knocked over a whole cup of resin the other day and didn't even realise fir a good few minutes! I'll be putting that video up soon!!
Oh no, hope you managed to save some of it! Thanks for stopping by x
@@CreatewithSqudgeCraft oh yeah, u scooped...a lot!!
I like the idea of rock salt with metal bits using magnets and setting like a type of orgonite or with gypsum powder to try and get a selenite look?
Ooh that would be so petty 💜💜 great idea!
I was fascinated watching this 😍🤩 my favourite (if its OK to have one) was the rock salt one with just a bit in it but they are Al really pretty, tfs xx
Of course it's OK, the rock salt was my favourite too!! Thanks for stopping by xx
Definitely going to try these! Thanks LJ!
Yay, have fun. Thanks for stopping by x
I'm going to try this with pink Himalayan salt!!
Ooh that would be so pretty 💜
Great experiment LJ, loved the one with not so much rock salt in. TFS XX 🥰💖🌈
Thanks for watching and commenting hun, glad you enjoyed it x
Good video :) where’s the mold from ? The baking section?
Yes, it's a chocolate mold.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting x
Great video, beautiful 💯thanks
Funny experiment. I personally would have used themould to put chocolate in 🤪 What do you do with these resin hearts?
Great idea, but not now. Once it's had resin it can't have food in.
These were just for an experiment, but I make a lot of keyrings with this mold 💜 x
I think water solvable is why the sugar and salt didn't change.
They do dissolve in water true
Rock salt is cool
It really is 💜 thanks for watching
Do they disolve in water ? When they fully cured
No, once fully cured the salt sugar are encased in resin and do not interact with water or any thing else.
Thanks for watching 💜
@@CreatewithSqudgeCraft thank you for your kind reply, i will give it try 👍🏻
@@masterandomenjoy x
Cute!!
Thank you so much. It was a really interesting experiment 💜
@@CreatewithSqudgeCraft I've been looking at ways to make resin that are less expensive for coating larger areas. To protect against elements 🤔
But this video reminded me to have fun and learn...stay you🤩🎉😁
@@strangescience3414 wonderful, glad to hear you can explore and have fun 👍🏻
My rock salt melts inside the resin....
Really? Interesting. What type of resin are you using and how deep is the mold?
