    "Culling Voices" from Tool's "Fear Inoculum" album (2019).
    Okay I have decided. This is definitely my favourite song from Fear Inoculum. I mean, the riffs aren't that special really. Most of it is just 2-2-2-2-2 anyway. "Maynard is back" is the only thing I could think of when I listened to this song.
    There's not a whole lot I can say about the actual tab though. It's very straightforward. Pneuma is next, although I do feel like taking a little break..
    Some important information that nobody is going to read.
    Tuning : D-A-D-G
    Artist : Tool
    Bassist : Justin Chancellor
    Album : Fear Inoculum (2019)
    Song : CULLING VOICES
    Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash

    Some tricky, but minimal tabs as usual from Justin. Just wish it was that easy to play. I would love to hear you play live; Doesn’t have to be Tool of course. Do you normally play a 5 string? Are you currently in a band?
    Great job again! Cannot wait for invincible. It has that beautiful delay on the d and g strings. Plus a slew of other shit Justin throws in (Chorus, flanger, etc). Sometime ago I was chasing that Justin tone, but have since given up as it’s nearly impossible without processing and a $7,000 Wal bass! Haha
    Again, I cannot thank you enough for putting these tabs together, Leo. You’re an awesome dude for doing this!

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  4 роки тому +2

      Doesn't have to be tricky at all indeed. I normally play a 5-string yes. I'm in a band called "Orien" where I'm the singer/bassist. Busy with recording our first EP :)
      Yeah you really need a Wal to get that perfect tone..

    You are doing great with this Tool covers! Thank you for you dedication.
    It would be very useful if you can tell me what gear you are using to get that Tool tone and how do you record it. I just bought my first bass and I'm learning with Tool songs, what can be better! Y just have my bass and a Vox Adio Air for bass as an amp.
    What would you recommend me to buy?

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  4 роки тому +2

      Well there's a little difference here since I'm playing and recording digitally. It's an audio interface with a realistic amp simulator plug-in (Ampeg SVT-VR). So I wouldn't know which amp is good or not. For the Tool tone, I tend to go for :
      Treble : 9/10
      Mid : 4/10
      Bass : 9/10
      Effects : compression, distortion, EQ.

    Do you have any tricks to make the drop D string sound tighter? You drop D string sounds better than mine does (maybe because of the amp?) Anyway, very impressive.

    • @lred1383
      @lred1383 4 роки тому +3

      The obvious one is string gauge. I would go for a .110 or higher if you're gonna play in Drop D. 45-110 is very common, because it works well from E standard to Drop C, which is where most music is anyway. Another thing might be the same issue i had on my bass. Does it have active pickups? If so, the input may be too high. Try rolling down the knobs on the bass and compensating on the amp, that way the sound should be clearer

      @@lred1383 Thanks. I like flexible strings on my active fan fret, and maybe that's why. Also I do get much better definition when plugged in headphones instead of Speak output. Maybe I will dial some amp settings to make it sound better.

    • @lred1383
      @lred1383 4 роки тому

      @@bccal5982 I did too. Amp settings won't help much, try rolling down the knobs on the bass and increasing the volume on your amp. If it has a "pad" button, press that. See how it sounds after that

      @bccal5982 4 роки тому

      @@lred1383 Thanks. I would try that later. I do boost mid and high for some extra bites, but the D gets too "Clanky" as the string keeps hitting the fret due to its floppiness
