    This is so sweet and sad, I think this is why Dolly is so Humble and kind. Older Stars from this time grew up poor and they appreciate where they are..

    She has brought this property and renovated the home because it holds a dear place in her heart like her precious family she often goes up to her Tennessee Mountain home to write songs - thank you

    I am an immigrant but this was the kind of America I had in my mind probably because of all the old movies i have watched growing up truly inspirational.

    Always a thumbs UP!!! I lost my Momma this year, and this just made me cry like you wouldn't believe. I grew up exactly like Dolly, and it's rare for my generation to say that. I'm 33, and oh how "I miss the good 'ol days when times were bad." You know, we didn't have much money, in fact I rarely seen what the green stuff looked like other than coins when I was growin' up. But we were rich!!! We had a spiritual bank account full of love!! And that was and still is priceless... As I close this c

    I love this video with dolly and mom and dad on front porch, can't get any better than this. I can imagine writting my songs on a country porch like this cause I am a song writer and the atmosphere is so unique now days I love it. When dolly sings you listen what a gift. God bless

    Dolly must have felt comfortable being back in the old home where she grew up. She must have taken real good care of her parents before they died.

    It is good when you can buy the property on wich you grew up and were happy even if you were poor. What to by when my parents were evicted from their property in 1995, at that time I was already in Switzerland but I was left homeless with them. My father called me on the phone in CH and at that moment my world collapsed but only that day, the other day I decided that no war would stop me from helping my own and realizing my dreams. It still hurts the thought that I can no longer enter that house, I can only pas by it. Be happy Dolly Parton you deserve what you have achived and enjoy the memories of the estate that is dear to your heart. Love you Dolly , your Eli. from Switzerland(and Croatia).😎😁😎🇭🇷❤🇨🇭❤🇺🇸💖🎶💖

    dolly tried many times to give her parents money folowing her breakthrough in the music buisness, but they refused charity...even from their daughter. Once dolly tried to buy them a new home and her daddy told her not to help them, and that they could fend for themselves, but she bought them a home anyway and i believe they lived there until her daddy died in 200 and her mama died in 2003.

    I wonder what her parents would've thought of the movie, Coat of Many Colors? Driving through the backroads of Sevier County, Tennessee, I've seen the cemetery where her parents are buried. A local businessman and mayor of Knoxville, who had his own radio and tv variety show, got her into the business.

    I saw her on TV in New York City being on two shows in one week. She talked about the show they are doing there titled: "Nine to Five" and on Regis she was on with the main cast from the broadway show. I thought it was a great show.

    If Dolly's dad whipped his children it portrays him as a child abuser. No parent should whip a child. Shame that Dolly reveres her father because he actually must have been a brute if he behaved as a 'whipper'. And worse still is that her mother allowed him to whip the children. What type of parents did she really have? Bloody crap!

    • @yedon68
      @yedon68 7 років тому +6

      You don't understand ---teachers used to 'whip' students...this was in high school too..we would have choices get our ass whipped by a big paddle or sweep the hallways after breaks for two wks...IM about Dolly's age & went to school in the same state---not near as much crime then..children were whipped for stealing by parents as well!
