Interesting, fun test, Chris. I've got about a hundred hours on my nephew's KX057-4. I think I like the thumb and wider track on the Yanmar better, however, from an ease of operation for a low time operator, the counterweight on the Kubota is probably safer. Hey, you drive a Ford and I drive a Dodge. Keep up the good work, son. Your video's are the highlight of my day........
Hi Chris Love all your videos. I like both machines but I've seen both of those machines in action on several of our jobs and the Kubota has always been a little more stronger than the Yanmar. I'm sure you've watched Cotontop's videos and his machine is quite impressive. That Rotobec grapple is the way to go if your moving logs and pipe all day. That's an incredible attachment and well worth the money if that's what kind of work you do. Keep up the great work and enjoy the new machine. That's a beauty and Volvo is one strong piece of iron. A friend of mine has over 300 pieces of equipment and he was always a Cat guy. Over 8 years ago he made the change to Volvo and 75 percent of all his construction equipment is Volvo. He has anything from the small ones to the 950. He's a large roadbuilder in the East. Have a great week and have a Great Fourth Of July!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I would guess the Kubota U55 would be pretty even with the Yanmar. The KX series is designed with more tail. It would be interesting to see how the Yanmar with the optional counterweight would compare
I have the older version of the KX057/ KX161-3 angle blade...2008 bought it new.. actually traded my KX121 in because it was too lite.... The 161-3 has 4250 one operator hours and runs like new... just had the main blade pin and bushings replaced last week and a case drain installed and quick attach skid steer adapter to run my Halverson firewood processor... also have a Helac power tilt I bought a few months ago and several other attachments... auger, ripper tooth, 5 different buckets ,12,18,24,30" tooth and 48" grading bucket plus I can now use my 72" g.p. bucket off my Kubota tractor mated to the skidsteer coupler . Also have a side tool brand log splitter.... Still running original set of rubber tracks... Great video guys thanks for sharing.. stay safe, Tom
The biggest surprise for me having spent a bit of time in the Yanmar is that it could even pick the pipe up. Every Yanmar I have run always feel a bit gutless to me, especially in the slew. Used my mate's Volvo 58 the other day and I liked that a lot. So far I'd be Volvo first, Yanmar 2nd and Kubota 3rd.
Chris, the model tells me he has .2 more metric tons on you. If you want to add a counterweight to the back of the Yanmar we can do that for sure. I have added an extra weight to most of the Yanmar line and it moves the center of gravity about 4 to 6 inches depending on the model. They are purchased directly from Yanmar and come painted to match with the decals already installed.
Gotta wonder how the old Yanmars like Camarata has compares to the new ones and the Kubota and Takeuchi.? Andrew is really happy with the performance of his B37 and B50 Yanmars.
Are counterweight weights on these machines an item that you could order larger with the machine? Or add a larger counterweight later on? Or is the machine only spec'd to run with one size counterweight?
I was very impressed on how much weight those little tikes could pickup . That log's about the weight of a midsize car. My new back in the day 1966 Plymouth Satellite with the 383 4 speed was about 3600 lbs. Wish I still had that car. Nice vid, Chris.
Some please tell me how these 2 machines compare in cab size ?? I’m 6ft 4 so bigger leg room is better for me but there’s something about the Yanmars I I like
Chris, would it be possible to put a larger, heavier counter weight on your mini? Is it feasible for longevity? I would think it would help make it more stable when you have to reach out far and pick something up or dig.
If you were buying a new mini today in the 55 to 60 class machine and money wasn't an issue what machine would you get and which machine do you think would be the best bang for the buck? Thanks!
At the end of the day it’s personal preference, finances, and type of work your doing with the machine you buy. Look after your machine and it will look after you.
I would love to see a walk around and tour of your F550 and see what you like and don't about the truck and would you get another F550 if the opportunity arises
If this video were longer that log would have gotten so heavy that neither machines would lift it lol. What class or tonnes are those 2 mini diggers, they are a lovely size.
The 57 is a good machine we've got one I like running it, ours has steel tracks, rubber bands wouldn't survive. I don't know if the 57 will get to 12000 hours plus like the 161 it replaced being the 57 has an emissions engine. The Yanmar has of stuff jammed in a small space I curse enough working on the fleet of Kubota's working on that Yanmar would be frustrating. If you were doing lots of really tight conditions work the Yanmar would win for general excavating I would take the 57s big ass any day of the week the stability is nice.
Interesting. You could add weight to the Yanmar, or possibly offset the counter weight shifting it further back. But that would add machine weight and/or lose the zero clearance. Plus changing back would be such a pain you wouldn't do it often. But what if you could shift the counterweight aft and pull it in when the zero clearance was needed,.....almost like putting the blade out/down or an aft boom that tips the weight aft.
That's very rudimentary info on each machine though. How that power and flow is managed and prioritized to each function is the "devil in the details". The Yanmar VIPP system from what I have gathered is a more advanced and efficient hydraulic system.
@@JerichoRally what I'm saying is that that is not sufficient info to determine overall performance of either machine. If you were to attach say, a brush cutter, to both machines, neither is going to put 30 something gallons per minute to the cutter. That's the combined flow of the pumps to all functions. It's also important to know how that flow is distributed or shared between those functions especially when they are used simultaneously. That being said, we can't tell which one of the 2 is the higher performer based on those basic figures.
@@JerichoRally also. Those max relief pressure settings are likely for the drive motor circuits and have nothing to do with boom, swing, or aux. functions which can often be at a little lower setting.
4280 What you need is tracked Dump trucks for the soft ground that you are working. Something like the MOROOKA - MST3000VD that has a ground pressure per square inch of 3.4 to a maximum loaded of 7.1 compared to your Excavator that has between 8.0 to 5.6 psi of contact pressure.
Wat's the cost difference? Kubota and Deere both price their machines higher I guess because they can. I'm not an excavator though. I have an old John Deere 430 garden tractor from 1984 with the 3 cylinder Yanmar in it that I restored.. The other day I cut about 6 trees out of my tree line and I wanted the mess all in one place so that little mule drug maybe 10" trees up to my burn pile with ease. Probable 1500 lbs. I need to get a set of tongs, the trunk end drug in the mud the whole way but it chugged right along. About 24 more trees to go!
That is 2 guys having fun , looks fun, needless to say, Kubota an yanmar make some good mini's, thanks for sharing Chris, good stuff.
They're both tough machines, each with it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Appreciate you guys maxing out your machines for the video. Both look quite stout for the size. Thanks..

I'd take the Yanmar any day over that Kubota.. Can't believe that picks up 4300# pretty good.

I'd rather have that kx161-3 then either of these machines.
@@steveguy7165 same here...I'm actually looking for another clean 161-3.....
Wow. Tom. We wouldn't get. 1200 hours on tracks in our rock crap soils. Probably more if just one careful operator

Both machines are really nice. One wouldn't go wrong with either.
The yanmar is a solid machine for sure. Not saying there's anything wrong with the kubota.

I gotta b22 yanmar things a tank very reliable and strong for its size mines a 1995
Chris, is there a different counterweight available for the Yanmar? If so it would let you have some extra stability further out in a test like this.
Good video thanks 💪🏼
The Price of our Toys go UP the Older we get. Spend the Cash 💰 or Don’t go out to Play. 😬 👍
@letsdig18. Chris if you were to buy a new mini today what brand would you get?
Looking like he answered that question with strawberry short cake 🎂 recently.
Are counterweight weights on these machines an item that you could order larger with the machine? Or add a larger counterweight later on? Or is the machine only spec'd to run with one size counterweight?
With the added counterweight on the yanmar would it be a tie?
Amazed at the power of these small excavators! That log is massive!

Yeah they don't make cars like they used to, the old ones apart from maybe rust were so simple and reliable.
I like Kubota, but I would take the yanmar between the 2.
That's a great way to check the hoses for defects 🤔And have a bunch of fun 👍💪. Stay safe 😷 🇨🇦 Craig
Hey, Chris when are you going to get back to the big mud job. the one you had to cover the sidewalk with plywood and make a road on top of it?
My kubota kx057 is a bloody beast even with the extra weight of the tiltrotator
Clearly Kubota wins brute strength but I would think equally important would be mobility, reliability, maintenance cost, and factory warranty.
Yanmar vio 55-5, хороший экскаватор,Я на таком работаю.
Love videos like these. Great video
Bust out Tinkerbell Takeuchi and see if the old Girl can take on the Kubota!
Some please tell me how these 2 machines compare in cab size ?? I’m 6ft 4 so bigger leg room is better for me but there’s something about the Yanmars I I like
Those are impressive machines. Tiny excavators lifting almost 2 tonnes while reaching out. Bet the hydraulic oil got really hot....

Very interesting my friend. I like yours better because of the zero turning circle.
Finally...proof that size doesn't matter. It's the way you use that counts.
what are price comparisons? I recall during Takeuchi vs Kubota test the Kubota cost $15k more?
Which one uses the most fuel, & has the greater maintenance expense?
The Kubota deserves a celebration
Plus 1000 pound bonus weight
To thumbs up for
Kubota
pressure reliefs are set very similar, both nice pieces of equipment.
Kubota seemed to have bigger tracks, but it's a bigger machine. How's the ground pressure compare and what about track cost?
I just watched the moving of your oak tree video. It’s been a couple years now. How’s it doin in the new home location?
its growing well
letsdig18 picture? (at your convenience tho). I am a tree lover...
Though a big advantage of the Yanmar is the Zero Turn.
Is it just me or is the Yanmar a smoother quieter running engine? Both nice machines.
I wonder how the bobcat would compare? In the same class
At the end of the day it’s personal preference, finances, and type of work your doing with the machine you buy. Look after your machine and it will look after you.
What your opinion Chris, does Kubota make a decent machine
Amazing work i like this🥰
Bet that Yanmar don’t need as much maintenance as that Kabota😜
Why do you say that?
wonder what the price difference in replacement parts and maintenance costs are for each.
How many hours you have on your yanmar?
I would love to see a walk around and tour of your F550 and see what you like and don't about the truck and would you get another F550 if the opportunity arises
How'd you bend the blade Zack ?
he dropped a log on it LOL
@@letsdig18 not good ! As you know my machine is 12 and been through hell and my blade isn't bent !! LOL
I almost got a yanmar vio35 but I’ve watched this channel along time and I decided to get copy you the bigger vio55 and I’m glad I did
I would buy a SV60.
@@FPVForLife I would buy a sv100
Chris. Can the Yanmarhave a Heavier counterweight put on it
Good stuff Chris. He also has a angle blade that sticks out further than yours
Orange!! :)

So one was better then the other. They are both better then the one I don’t have.
lol!!!!
What about the volvo ecr 58 I would like to see a test
I'll be waiting here for Cotontop to stroll in here gloating. LOL.
A fair comparison would be the Kubota U-55
Awesome video Chris that is a big old red oak

Can you compare with yanmar sv 60 ?
what does each machine weigh?
Wow. Enlightening. Kubota and Yanmar both have 47.6hp.
Kubota bucket digging force 11,177lbs. Yanmar bucket digging force 10,183lbs.
Kubota hydraulic flow 39.4 gpm (total). Yanmar hydraulic flow 33.7 gpm (total).

What is the difference in the price between the yanmar and the kabota
I wonder how the U55 does against the yanmar or even the KX057
Would probably be much closer.
Am I the only one that saw the face on the log...LOL.💯👍
Nice break from work!
Their both tuff little machines.
Price comparison? What did each cost new?
Love your vids 😍
Chris, what would the repair cost be if the hydraulics blew out. :(
They have pressure relief valves. So turn your judgmental frown upside down!
Chris didn't you already work out that Takeuchi 260 will out grunt Kubota.Presume it would devour the Yanmar.
Both are good machines.
That tree is a lot of weight for either machine.
What’s the $$$ difference ?
Price difference between these two minis?

Don't some Kubota's have hydraulics that push the tracks apart to widen the track width?
The k17 kubota does
You know what they say: It's not how big it is,it's how you use it.
Good comparison but i thank the Kubota had more weight in the seat and back then yanmar lol
Price comparison would be great as well
That log weighs as much as many vehicles. So a little mini excavator can move cars! LOL
Still just a couple kids playing in the sandbox. The toys have just gotten more expensive 😂
Have you ever tried a bobcat excavator?
That was a lot of pressure on the idlers when you were carrying the log offf to the side. lol
Very up lifting video bro, made god viewing. Stay safe
Cheaper Pond update?
Kubota wins on the pipe. both about even on the log.
