This is if you can find one for 4k new like he did. Here in the midwest am seeing many are trying to import and sell for profit, so asking 6k or more… too much for what it is. 4k is the most I’d pay. And probably would have gotten one already if I could find one at that price. Have a full size backhoe already but this thing can get into the spots, and even slow and weak can build single track trail or earn profit doing certain jobs and underpinning

It's all a trade off. There's nothing comparable to this so you can't even ask yourself if an alternative is a better value. The closest thing is a used Japanese excavator like Andrew said, which would take a lot of mechanical skill and know-how to keep operating as long as a brand new Chinese unit would. If you had that kind of mechanical skill already you might as well buy the best used excavators on the market and fix those up instead and now you're not even in the same ballpark as these mini machinery.
Sometimes that extra $1k-$2k is worth it too, just to avoid all the headaches involved with trying to get Chinese exports through customs and into a US port. The political climate around US/China trade is making it a lot harder for normal people to do business in that arena. When you pay a middleman a little extra you're paying for convenience and a higher likelihood that you get your machinery on time in good shape without a week of being on the phone with people who don't care whether you get your Chinese product or not.

Like you said, your video will seal a lot of them and raise the price. Because the stability needs to be watched a proper ropes should be considered vs the rain and sun shield. I bought a used Kubota KH-41 (1 1/2 tons about). 20 years ago and it now has 4600 hours, over double the hours when I bought it. I only rolled it once and grateful for the ROPS. I’m 82+ and still find chores to do year round. Kubota diesel engine a reliable engine and starts no issue even in Canadian winters. I doubt your machine ‘s engine will see 4600 hours but then for the price paid, buy 4-5 new ones as required. I prefer diesel but there is a price.. I consider myself hard on machines but not to your level - I would like your assessment after 500+ hours under your command. Thanks for the video!

Haha, absolutely hilarious. Is Andrew planning on starting a family? A fun size excavator and kids cars. On a serious note, it's a pretty capable machine. It's a shame it doesn't have an additional counterweight kit. If it isn't broken in 10 minutes, it's good enough for anyone

There’s some of us who don’t have a need for a super expensive or big excavator but could definitely use a budget one maybe like this one or a little more expensive

All the others were more of a "construction" use versus home/homestead use. For $4k you really can't go wrong and after watching this and seeing how they really work...I am going to place and order for one today. Most look to be 2-3x what you paid so maybe I will try my luck at the next auction. Thanks for doing what you do and sharing this. I was super impressed with its ability to lift heavy timbers. The lack of weight will significantly impact how to use it and what it can do. Having the fixed thumb, makes you curl the load back in close to help with the load balance. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised with what that little machine (not a toy) was able to do. I thought that the B&S badge, should mean that the motor at least is made in the USA, so likely to be OK for local service and parts, but AGT appears to be Chinese company, so the B&S motor is also likely made in a B&S factory over there.

Also he did the one thing a lot of people miss and mess up on these. They ship with a light break in oil that only is good for about 5 hours, because it is designed to catch all the metal shavings and crap as the engine bores in. When people leave it in, it tends to kill the engine.

Something worth a look at Andrew. On those pine logs with the branch stubs sticking out. I saw a guy dig out one, probably about three inches into tree. He shaped it like a fat pencil. It was full of pine oil. (I think it was a pine tree, which species, I don know) He lit it with a flint stone and used it to start his fires, blew it out and reused it.
