I wore 2010 Nike Baseball turfs for years for off road hiking, light jogging, and training on wet concrete…the dotted pattern tread used was the best grip I’ve come across. I’m def a trainer more than a runner, but it’s the only shoe I’ve ever had confidence in jumping from rock to rock and over wet streams.

I was so surprised by the evolution of this shoe, that I bought two pairs in two weeks, I can say that it is my favorite trail shoe for all the years that I run, this shoe is amazing, it m 'completely diverted from the hoka mafate speed 2, altra olympus 3.5 and other brooks caldera 4, even from my last asics trabuco max, that is to say if they had an effect on me, I find the look to fall, really very beautiful, even magnificent, in terms of comfort, I still wonder how Nike did to achieve this, they wouldn't have molded the shoe on my feet !!! ji a Morton nevroma on my feet, that's the main reason I would run in hoka / altra ...... so as not to feel the terrain, and these nike do the job admirably well, and that thanks in large part al air zoom unit under the front feet, which has the advantage of not losing its damping properties over hours and kilometers, a first very good thing, as regards the react foam, I was a little afraid of its sagging , but it is not, no problem at this level either in 150 miles, as far as stability is concerned, it is true that at the beginning, I had a little trouble, but now, I am in full confidence, even in the technique, like what, you should not trust the first impression, and often put a few miles on a shoe. Led laces, indeed I find them a little thin and too short, and not elastic enough , I have to take care of the lacing so as not to be bothered, so I look for r a change of laces ....... for the grip on wet ground, not the best, but not the worst either, I would like to point out that I made my first long outing with these TK7s on technical terrain, with a lot of stones and in the pouring rain, and I didn t slipped more than my friends with their hoka mafates speed 2 and their vibram soles, and I have the impression that the more the sole wears, the better the grip becomes on these Nike TK7. I will take the start of the UTMB next August, and for the moment, it is these TK7s which will be at my feet on the starting line, I also test the Brooks catamount in parallel, I can already say that it is less comfortable, and that it grips less well in the wet, to see in several additional km, hoping not to have been too long.

Have the 6. Took it out on a rainy day. That was the last time I took it for a run. Felt like roller skates...Had to stop running because I lost all confidence in the shoe’s traction...sounds like they still haven’t fixed that major problem on the 7.

I have the wildhorse 4. Best upper fit I've had on a shoe other than the inov8 g270. Worst grip I've ever had on a hill shoe. They've only had 4 years to fix that problem. 🤣

I have the wildhorse 7. It's great but for zero grip in the wet - especially on hard rock that will hurt a lot of I stack it. How on earth that outsole rubber passes quality control / testing is beyond me. I'd happily take a higher wear, softer outsole

Big time. I don’t want to have to worry if there might be a moist root or rock when I decide what shoe to put on. The bad rubber compound is a deal breaker for me. There’s too many other trail shoes that don’t have that problem

Between the Kigers and the Catamounts for trail races, honestly...I would go for my Kigers because they're so nimble and I feel like they have a little more grip than the Catamounts. Not much, but just a little bit. I have the Kiger 6s and I wore them for my trail half marathon yesterday.
The trails yesterday were dry, with a little bit of mud, but plenty of rocks, roots, and they were mainly single track. The Kigers were perfect for this because I was able to dart between all the things with ease.
Thank you for posting this! The lighting is SICKENING, btw.

Why on earth cant Nike produce a decent outsole? The shoes are soooo good, but the lack of grip is a real issue. Imagine this shoe with the grip from the 6 or 8 mm lugs from an Inov8 shoe 🤩 Then you would have a near perfect trail shoe. But here in the wet conditions in Denmark, these shoes are almost deadly.

The version 6 is my all time favorite and currently on my second pair. In the running store I noticed a few things whilst trying it on. The shoe feels heavier than previous versions; and the fit is bigger. I'm a size 10 in everything from Hoka to Salomon but felt better in size 9.5. Curious why the weight issue wasn't mentioned in the video. Otherwise the shoe feels much more "cushy" which being a light weight runner doesn't really matter to me.

I've been in the last couple gens of the Wildhorse and have been curious about a somewhat lighter, less 'trail' of a shoe. Like you, I seem to always be happy with Nike and their trail shoes. So, given your review, I'll probably pull the trigger on a pair. Thanks. Now, to watch the review of the Wildhorse!

Dude I'm in agony. I have had the 6's since the first day they came out, and I love them so much. They are the closest thing I've ever had to the perfect shoe. The lace up is ABSOLUTELY fiddly, but the trade off is that when you get it right, it's absolute PERFECT. I want to try the 7's but I feel like I'll prefer the air zoom in the heel rather than the forefoot. But my HUGE disaliek of the 6's (and it seems like it carried over to the 7's) but that HORRIBLE outsole. Absolutely atrocious is wet weather. I would GLADLY pay $20-$40 more if they would just put a Vibram Megagrip sole on these. They would literally be the perfect shoe it they did. Thank yo so much for all your content! It's incredibly valuable and palatable

    Ethan-GR. Hello from Scotland.
My first time on here, loved both your reviews on the Terra Kiger 7 & Wildhorse 7. I am glad I found you as I was just about to order both and pick one, however, the Scottish weather isn't the best and muddy as a only a pig could love at the moment. Like you, I love Nike shoes. So, in your opinion, what Nike shoe is the best in wet & muddy conditions? I am both running and dog walking so it's all about varying degrees of grip, grip, grip!

Do you have any recommendations for PNW Softball? A good option for turf and dirt? Running bases and fielding balls? Running on grass, wet/dry and possible muddy. Quick, explosive base running. Quick back and forth darting. Agility and speed. Not too bulky? I know..super picky. For years I have used the Speedcross GTX and they really are great. Have been my favorite to date. However, they are a little bulky and a little heavy and for someone with speed, it’s a little frustrating to feel weighed down and unable to really feel the ground below. The grip is awesome, though, which makes them my go-to still. Need traction but still lightweight. I have yet to try the wildcross, but not sure if they are still too bulky…any suggestions? Oh! And maybe something that stays or has the option of neutral tones/basic colors..considering I use them for team sports ;) cleats are out of the equation..my feet and ankles just can’t tolerate them. Thanks!!

Totally agree with your analysis. I love my pair in the dry, really nimble and comfy with decent pop and not as harsh on the calves as the g270s due to the 4mm drop. If Nike teamed with vibram or developed a decent rubber compound these would be game changers. Maybe they make the compound so hard for longevity? Everyone I know who I’ve spoken to would pay more for a decent rubber and I replace mine every 6 months so a softer compound would be fine. I also struggle with the laces compared to the 6 but have got it dialled now. For all its faults I still reach for these on most trail runs over my salaomons and perigrines so whilst I love them they are also very frustrating due to the lack of traction🤷‍♂️

I've never really understood why people have a problem with the grip of Terra Kigers on wet surfaces. Sure, the lugs are pretty much useless is deep mud, but otherwise I've never had a single issue with slippage in Terra Kigers (5s and 6s) on wet rock or on wet trails

I think it largely depends on the geology. I have problems with grip on wet limestone but not granite for instance. That said, 99% of the time it doesn't matter and most trail shoes you going to slip a bit.

I really wanted to love these. I usually wear Altras, and found the toe box in the TK7 accommodating. I love the way they feel, until headed downhill. I’m wondering if this version of React is too squishy? It feels like it compresses so much that my foot is balancing on the relatively narrow air pod and they feel super wobbly as a result.

Im facing a blisters issue with Terra Kiger 7. After a long run (20+km) I have this troubles with my left foot thumb. I don't know why. Probably because I used to have Nike - Pegasus Trail 36 - where is drop 10mm and here is only 3 or 4mm. Im very disappointed with that but its probably connected because of my foot is not compatible with this shoe. I tried almost change everything like socks etc... but its still here. For the shorter run its okay.

Appreciate the review. The TK has long been my fav trail shoe; however, the 7 for me is meh. It feels like it's starting to trend away from the race inspired origins. For my biomechanics, the air pocket & react foam feel muted at speed (idk, perhaps due to weight gains of this version) and especially when compared to something like the Catamount. IMHO, the 6 felt more spry, light and willing to turnover at quicker paces (i.e. sub 6 on dry colorado trails). Compared to the 6, this version is pretty much more of everything: it's heavier, has a taller stack height, is actually longer, has more air & more bulk. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice shoe and it'd be a great update to the wild horse, it's just disappointing as the updated TK.

I just got these. Running off the Kiger 4s. I have a wider foot and have a hard time finding a shoe that fits. I run wet technical trails in North Vancouver. The low drop and light sole give great ground feel. The 7s definitely have more cush and rounder edges. Hopefully they go just as fast with all the additional support.
