Mobile Table Saw Station Build for DeWalt DW745 - FREE PLANS

  • In this video I show how I have built a mobile table saw station/stand for my DeWalt DW745 table saw.
    FREE Plans can be found at this link: drive.google.com/open?id=0B1K...
    I've had to re-upload this video due to the previous one becoming corrupted after 72,000 views. Thanks UA-cam............
    To build the station I have used 63mm x 38 mm (1 1/2" x 2 1/2") CLS timber and also 6mm, 12mm and 18mm plywood. The station is held together by 2" pocket screws.
    It is 90cm high (about 3ft). I have added castors to the station so I can move it around and have built a shelf at the bottom to put things on.
    In another video I will build a folding outfeed to attach to the station.
    I've re-edited the video to make it a bit shorter and hopefully slightly more enjoyable.
    If you like the plans please take a look at my video about how i'm raising money for charity through my channel. The plans are free but if you'd like to make a donation it would be welcomed.

    For those of us in the United States, know that the latest DW745 is not as deep as the one featured here. To save you some re-sawing, cut the 770 mm pieces (approx. 30 3/8 inches) down to 24 and 1/4 inches instead. Trial and error. Also, drink beer AFTER you do the dry assembly :p Many thanks for the free plans, I look forward to exercising the saw this holiday season!

      I would love to have read this before, I had to re-saw those too but also, if I would do it again, I would cut those 580mm into 590 or 600mm because DW745 here have two small bevels it side of the table, 10~20 mm more clearance would have save cuts to slim down top strips and their supports.
      Thanks for great plans.

      Hey Jeff. I just got my DW745 2 weeks ago. Does this still apply for your measurements? Sorry for the ignorance. I'm newish to woodworking. Definitely new to the table saw. I haven't even used it because I'm kind of skeeeeeert. LOL! I can do a circular saw for days so not sure why I'm a bit skittish on trying the table saw. Maybe because I have to cut a 45 degree angle on a 2x12x8 board and I have nothing to help hold it up while I cut. Thank you for any feedback you can offer. :)

    I don't often comment on videos, but I wanted to let you know that this is a video that a new woodworker like myself can really appreciate because of your small shop. On top of that, it is clear that your shop is not 100% your shop, but also doubles as storage for your everyday life. A lot of woodworking videos that I see are professional shops that seem to have every tool imaginable at their disposal. Great job with this video. Keep up the good work!

    Very helpful.... I've had my saw for about 6 months and just built this stand today.... I altered the height of the base slightly so it's the same height as the rest of my benches.
    I'll look in the future to put some kind of hinged support to the back and side for larger pieces of wood.
    Thanks a lot for sharing

    I love the simplicity of this design. And the possibility to easily extends it with foldable sides for more table surface.

    I am building this at the moment, but realised during dry assembly that the 745 is much deeper that the 7485 and also a little taller from feet to surface than the 7485. It is a very good idea to dry assemble before driving all the screws in :-)

    I got my first table saw, a Dewalt 7491 and have spent the last 3 weeks searching UA-cam for plans for a rolling base for it. Since my shop is only 9' x 12', and already houses a Radial Arm Saw, a 6 foot workbench, drill press, and Dewalt 735 thickness planer, I needed something with the smallest footprint I could find. So I just used your plans for the lower unit as I don't have the room for the upper unit. I also had to resize the lower unit so it was smaller and changed the height to where I prefer it to be.
    I used the planer to size all the 2x4's to an exact 1.25 x 3.00 to make assembly a lot nicer.
    Thanks for this video, it is the BEST one on UA-cam!!! I've subscribed to your channel as well.

    Just finished mine! Love it!! Mine is a different model but looks identical to the 745 in the stores now - exactly. I just changed some of the measurements and works like a dream. I had to remove the guard holder that’s attached to the right side, but that’s ok. It won’t be used as a job site saw anyway so the guard will live on the machine more often than not.

    Well done design and video; I have the same Dewalt saw and plan to tackle this project. Question: How would you feel about using 2x3's (38x76mm) instead of 2x4's (38x101mm) for the frame parts? Given the short run length of the parts, perhaps 2x3's would be strong enough and also reduce the weight and material cost? Just a thought for your learned opinion. Thanks!

Since the table saw has a small footprint and doesn't make it easy to cut sheets of plywood (even 2'x4'), do you feel your plan would be strong enough to add a folding outfeed extension and also a folding extension wing on the left side?

    Hello there, is this the same table saw which you bought from D&M tool. When I looked at it, there are two knob screws at the back of the fence which your table don't see having or you have taken them out. Does the back of the fence there is extra fence which over lap for as guide support for cutting a bit larger piece

    This is by far the best extention build Iv'e seen. It said FREE PLANS ...but I didn't see anything I could click on to get them. Could you be so kind to send them to me?
    I'd really appreciate it. Thanking you in advance.

    Anyone have advice on how to achieve a larger rip capacity on a Dewalt 745 jobsite saw? I already know about shifting the fence down to the end of the rack and pinion rails, but that only ads a few more inches, putting me at about 24”. It also throws my tape out of whack.

    G'day Mate, would you have a picture of the back part of this build? I was just hoping for a good look at the rear part of this.

    Hi while I was watching this video and I notice that your table saw push stick are placed back of the fence and when I looked at D&M tools dewalt DW745 the push stick are at the side of the table saw where wrench are kept,your table saw fence seems different to the one I saw in D&M tools

    When I use a sled on this combo, will the miter bars clear the out feed side of the table. And, yeah, I’m finally getting a kreg jig...yes!!!

      I have modified mine so that there are slots in the frame where the slots are on the table top. 👍🏼

    Love the video and plans, what sort of cad system did you use, looking for a 2d software.
    You did a excellent job with your explanation of the whole project.

    I am trying to make detached extension portable table. What would be the exact height of the saw you kept her to align the top surfaces?

    Hi there, I'll be building this shortly so thanks for the great tutorial. One question, have you found it awkward constantly being on castors? doesn't it shift when you are using it? I realise you can lock a couple of them but it doesnt lock them from spinning round.

    • @WheresMyPencilUK
      @WheresMyPencilUK  3 роки тому +1

      Glad you like it. All 4 castors have a break so no movement at all even in a spinning direction. Even with the break on just 2 it doesn’t move. 👍🏼

    I enjoyed the video, especially seeing how much you're able to get done in a micro shop, but honestly I don't see the point of the upper frame. Other than a couple of inches of support on either side of the table, it really doesn't do much for you. I have a Dewalt 745 and absolutely LOVE the fence (the fence makes or breaks a table saw), but it's not really made for a cart. I think the base cabinet on casters is all you need.

    • @WheresMyPencilUK
      @WheresMyPencilUK  4 роки тому

      That is unless of course you want to fit a folding outfeed to the cabinet. Can’t do that with just a base.

    Well done. NOthing fancy but very functional. I like it better than most of the plans I've seen. I just might use your plan. Did you give any thought as to an outfeed table? Something that would fold down out of the way when not needed? Or it could be used as an assembly table when not being used for cutting.

    Have you by chance made a combination table saw router table or added router to this excellent Dewalt 745 cart?

      No but I have a separate router table build video check it out.

    Interesting !! Not sure where you are at , but i see you have a lot of de walt tools ! Your power outlets are differint than here also . I would like to get a Kreg pocket hole tool some time ! You did not use any glue that I saw . They hold that well ??

    • @WheresMyPencilUK
      @WheresMyPencilUK  6 років тому

      I’m in the UK hence the 3 pin plugs. Yeah no glue, the pockets hold really well and I like to change things around if they don’t work out and glue doesn’t give you that luxury.
