    Thank you for sharing! We watched your house build and it was so exciting and helpful as our build was just a couple weeks behind yours. We are moved in and love ours as well. I really like the use of white oak and that pantry is so well done. Congratulations!

      We did crinkle coat steel for the roof and siding, it is black and burnished slate. I’d highly recommend looking at the crinkle coat finish. Takes the shine away and increases durability.

    I'm sure you included it in one of your previous videos, but what company provided the steel components for your Barndo?

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  Місяць тому +3

      We purchased the steel through Chatfield Lumber of Eyota. It is crinkle coated steel. If I remember correctly the steel was fabricated by Metal Sales. The crinkle coat does a couple things in my opinion, increases durability, creates a nicer finish and increases the thickness of the paint. Thanks for the comments!

    I love the look of your home and the durability and reduced maintenance of using steel. Regular stick-build homes are designed to fail in my opinion, with rot, roof replacements, warping etc. Stick-built homes are just not durable enough for me. I love the longevity of steel.

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  Місяць тому +1

      @jonericsnow, I agree! Steel exterior is certainly going to stand up for a lot longer than any other traditional siding without maintenance. The home we will be moving off our property was built in 1904 and I have owned it for over 20 years. In that time I have replaced the roof twice, once because it was time and the second time because of hail. I have painted the wood siding twice. I won’t have to worry about that with this home.

    Why such a short shop door? I have two shop doors at 12’ and wish I had 14’ Boats, RV’s, toy haulers, work trailers, even a car hauler with a tractor or skid steer on it needs more height.

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  22 дні тому +2

      I didn’t want the temptation of putting my tractors or other equipment in there. I have a shop with tall doors for that stuff.

  • @SpencerPOsborn
    @SpencerPOsborn Місяць тому +6

    I know this varies depending on where you are, but what did this bad boy roughly cost all in? My wife and I are wanting to build something extremely similar to this. Probably wouldn’t opt for such awesome woodwork, but wanted to get a spitball idea of what we should anticipate with turnkey.

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  Місяць тому +3

      Hi @SpencerPOsborn, as you said, tons of variables go into the cost. Land, well, how much work you are able to do yourself etc. I believe, if a person were to hire a GC and have all of the work hired out you would be looking at north of $200/square foot average including the garage. I was very fortunate to have the time and ability to be the GC and help with a lot of our build which significantly reduced our cost. As you stated, the finishes and fixtures can really add up so if you can shop those around that helps a lot too.

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  28 днів тому +1

      Thanks, we like the look a lot. If you watch the previous videos, you’ll see it was built to withstand wind, tornados etc. I have a 48x80 pole barn that I built 13 years ago on the property that has withstood many bad straight line wind storms and one tornado that was very close. I guess I’m not sure what your point is regarding tornados, never seen a house, short of a solid concrete house withstand a tornado. Have a good day.

    • @buffalogroveoutdoors5110
      @buffalogroveoutdoors5110  Місяць тому +4

      @charlesdalzell4061, We knew the costs and didn’t anticipate it to be less than it was. You can build lower cost or more expensive. Just like any home. As far as this type of home vs a “standard” home I prefer the look and function of this home, not to mention the longevity of the exterior. Certainly no more costly than a normal home. Thanks for the comment.
