Sioux Lookout is a hub town in northern Ontario. Many First Nations (indigenous peoples of Canada) communities that are further north than Sioux Lookout are only reachable by flying. To get to them, you often have to connect through Sioux Lookout, since there are no roads that go to them. This is also why the train stops at Sioux Lookout. Many people getting off the train there may be connecting to a different community through the Sioux Lookout airport. My sister used to live and work in a First Nations' community that was hundreds of kilometers north of Sioux Lookout, and would have to take a plane from Sioux or Thunder Bay to get there. If there were ever any medical emergencies in the community, they would get airlifted to the medical centre in Sioux Lookout.

My hometown has an airport, which was built when the town had less than 2,000 people. I'm not sure why, it's not a commercial airport, and we're about an hour from a major international airport. They just built it for people with small planes I guess?

Same same i realised late that these are pre recorded ... thaths a bit sad I guess we dont get to keep up. But im happy with the commentary indeed. Its safe to say many youtubers do this today, much stuff has been pre-recorded only we know now.

@@ゲリン i think it's mostly a matter of the editing taking up a lot of time! people tend to underestimate how long it takes to edit videos, especially if you're doing a big one like this. it takes sorting out the footage, cutting, etc. and on top of that solo might have normal job as well, which can slow down the process even more.

Good video, Solo Solo. I enjoy your gentle sense of humour. The Canadian looks so utilitarian; no swank at all. Ottawa is the capital of Canada. Toronto is the capital of only the province of Ontario. I live near Vancouver, so I've been to the city lots of times. I took my grandsons there when they were little boys to see Stanley Park, the Aquarium, Gastown, Coal Harbour, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Robson Street, Science World, Maplewood Farms in North Vancouver. Great times with the kids. Stanley Park used to have a zoo, but now it's way out in Aldergrove. More room for the animals to move about, though.

I took the train with my grandmother a lot of times when I was a little kid. So boring. I remember watching telegraph poles. They seem to be passing us, but we were passing them. One time was memorable, though, when I was about 3 or 4. A pretty red-haired lady with a trim figure, wearing a brown suit, was sitting across from us. She smiled at me and patted the seat next to her. I looked up at Grandma, and she nodded, so I spent the rest of the evening chattering away to that lady. I fell asleep with my head on her lap and woke up with my head on a couple of pillows. I was disappointed that I did not get to say good-bye to her. I have loved red hair ever since than and wished that I had red hair. Kindness can make a deep impact.

Since airports are a thing of mine, I did some checking on Sioux Lookout airport. It's a small regional hub airport that basically only handles turboprop airplanes because it has a short runway, but it's an important medical evac hub and connects a lot of passenger and cargo traffic to outlying areas that would otherwise not have regular access. Just the little bit that I found out, respectfully submitted.

I'm so glad you enjoyed our wintery mountains! I live in Edmonton and the forest fire that swept through Jasper this past summer was devastating. First reports suggested the whole town was gone, but it ended up about 30% destroyed. Some very old hotels burned down, but the train station survived. I really enjoyed the whole trip! You were nearly right in saying it would probably be 2025 by the time this was uploaded, haha! I hope you dad enjoyed it too.

I rode the Canadian back and forth between Vancouver and Jasper in 2009 via Searrle as part of my riding all the AMTRAK routes west of St. Louis in five weekend to weekend trips 2001 - 2013 while still working. I was lucky this trip had unuually cold weather in late October and it snowed in the mountains. I really liked riding the rails to seee The West. Vert relaxing and great scenery. These trips were solo but I have also enjoyed travelling with a daughter on trips too adventurous for my wife. Good video. I also liked seeing each meal.

The top of that train was just lovely, it reminds me of the top deck of a bus!
Can't believe the man in front of you walking up the escalator without a coat on! 😅
The beds really did look comfy!
I love how there was puzzles and bingo games to do! And how you did the edges of a jigsaw and left it at that 😂
The way things froze on the train!! That's crazy! 😮
As a vegetarian, I have to admit some of these meat dishes look tasty!

Not too many of us in the lower 48 think of it, but the Canadian interior is gorgeous. And that train ride with the scenery food and entertainment is a treasure to remember for all of those who partake. You have made a memory, I'm sure that will last all your days.

My favourite way I've ever heard someone describe this train's amenities is that it's a combination of a turn of the century luxury liner and a soviet bomber
