I'm so glad you enjoyed our wintery mountains! I live in Edmonton and the forest fire that swept through Jasper this past summer was devastating. First reports suggested the whole town was gone, but it ended up about 30% destroyed. Some very old hotels burned down, but the train station survived. I really enjoyed the whole trip! You were nearly right in saying it would probably be 2025 by the time this was uploaded, haha! I hope you dad enjoyed it too.
Sioux Lookout is a hub town in northern Ontario. Many First Nations (indigenous peoples of Canada) communities that are further north than Sioux Lookout are only reachable by flying. To get to them, you often have to connect through Sioux Lookout, since there are no roads that go to them. This is also why the train stops at Sioux Lookout. Many people getting off the train there may be connecting to a different community through the Sioux Lookout airport. My sister used to live and work in a First Nations' community that was hundreds of kilometers north of Sioux Lookout, and would have to take a plane from Sioux or Thunder Bay to get there. If there were ever any medical emergencies in the community, they would get airlifted to the medical centre in Sioux Lookout.
My hometown has an airport, which was built when the town had less than 2,000 people. I'm not sure why, it's not a commercial airport, and we're about an hour from a major international airport. They just built it for people with small planes I guess?
When applying the norm's of other countries to Canada, one has to remember Canada has remaining wilderness areas MANY times larger than some countries that are considered large.
The town of now less than 1000 in South Dakota that i live in has an airport as well, it's not a commercial one, and is mostly used by crop dusting planes for the agricultural community, i believe.
Your quietude along with running subtitles allow me to soak in the sights and sounds of the voyage, feeling like I'm there with you. LOL. Thanks so much. ❤ your video.😊
I did Toronto to Vancouver on The Canadian in 2020 in the middle of winter, about 10 minutes before Covid. I was down the cheap end of the train, around $420 for just a seat. It reclines more than your average seat but still just a seat. 99 hours it took in the end. One of my favourite things ever. I knew it would be.

Good video, Solo Solo. I enjoy your gentle sense of humour. The Canadian looks so utilitarian; no swank at all. Ottawa is the capital of Canada. Toronto is the capital of only the province of Ontario. I live near Vancouver, so I've been to the city lots of times. I took my grandsons there when they were little boys to see Stanley Park, the Aquarium, Gastown, Coal Harbour, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Robson Street, Science World, Maplewood Farms in North Vancouver. Great times with the kids. Stanley Park used to have a zoo, but now it's way out in Aldergrove. More room for the animals to move about, though.
