Sioux Lookout is a hub town in northern Ontario. Many First Nations (indigenous peoples of Canada) communities that are further north than Sioux Lookout are only reachable by flying. To get to them, you often have to connect through Sioux Lookout, since there are no roads that go to them. This is also why the train stops at Sioux Lookout. Many people getting off the train there may be connecting to a different community through the Sioux Lookout airport. My sister used to live and work in a First Nations' community that was hundreds of kilometers north of Sioux Lookout, and would have to take a plane from Sioux or Thunder Bay to get there. If there were ever any medical emergencies in the community, they would get airlifted to the medical centre in Sioux Lookout.
My hometown has an airport, which was built when the town had less than 2,000 people. I'm not sure why, it's not a commercial airport, and we're about an hour from a major international airport. They just built it for people with small planes I guess?
I was so confused when you share the new year's party lol I was like "do canadian time run different?" 🤣 then I realized this video must have taken place last winter. I always enjoy your travels and fun commentary! thank you for sharing and being fun ❤

Good video, Solo Solo. I enjoy your gentle sense of humour. The Canadian looks so utilitarian; no swank at all. Ottawa is the capital of Canada. Toronto is the capital of only the province of Ontario. I live near Vancouver, so I've been to the city lots of times. I took my grandsons there when they were little boys to see Stanley Park, the Aquarium, Gastown, Coal Harbour, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Robson Street, Science World, Maplewood Farms in North Vancouver. Great times with the kids. Stanley Park used to have a zoo, but now it's way out in Aldergrove. More room for the animals to move about, though.
Due to the extreme loss due to fire in Jasper the trains will no longer be stopping there. They will be stopping in Hinton. They just recently reopened Jasper to visitors. BTW Ottawa is the capital not Toronto
Viarail's Canadian will continue to operate as usual with a stop in Jasper. You might be thinking of CN freight - that has shifted to Hinton. Jasper is open for business and welcomes visitors!
1979 (I was 18) I did Toronto to Vancouver and back in Economy class and in 2019 Winnipeg to Toronto and back, again in Economy. It is difficult to sleep that close to the locomotives.
I took the train with my grandmother a lot of times when I was a little kid. So boring. I remember watching telegraph poles. They seem to be passing us, but we were passing them. One time was memorable, though, when I was about 3 or 4. A pretty red-haired lady with a trim figure, wearing a brown suit, was sitting across from us. She smiled at me and patted the seat next to her. I looked up at Grandma, and she nodded, so I spent the rest of the evening chattering away to that lady. I fell asleep with my head on her lap and woke up with my head on a couple of pillows. I was disappointed that I did not get to say good-bye to her. I have loved red hair ever since than and wished that I had red hair. Kindness can make a deep impact.
It’s so interesting being able to understand the snippets of background conversation in your videos for once! I need to know whats going on with the guy who’s “like 90 years old” whose behavior “isn’t a good look” 😂

Since airports are a thing of mine, I did some checking on Sioux Lookout airport. It's a small regional hub airport that basically only handles turboprop airplanes because it has a short runway, but it's an important medical evac hub and connects a lot of passenger and cargo traffic to outlying areas that would otherwise not have regular access. Just the little bit that I found out, respectfully submitted.
You cam back to Canada! I'm so glad, I hope Canadian hospitality keeps you coming back. Even if we don't have the standards of Japan, our people are very welcoming.
I'm so glad you enjoyed our wintery mountains! I live in Edmonton and the forest fire that swept through Jasper this past summer was devastating. First reports suggested the whole town was gone, but it ended up about 30% destroyed. Some very old hotels burned down, but the train station survived. I really enjoyed the whole trip! You were nearly right in saying it would probably be 2025 by the time this was uploaded, haha! I hope you dad enjoyed it too.
