I really liked that one train announcer guy who said he wanted to give everyone water because he had a lot and wanted to water everyone like little flowers...and also said, "thank you for choo choo choosing Amtrak" I love that guy...
Virtual traveling is one of the coolest things on UA-cam and I'm always glad to encounter one of your new trips. It's so nice to travel in this way! Thanks! : )
Ooh, a Solo Solo Travel popped up for me, and it's literally has just been uploaded.. Well then, lets settle down with a cuppa and a biccy and watch 'Our favourite, witty, funny, and unseen Solo San.. Sending my hearitest best wishes to you, from Wales.
Actually, I don't mind because I'm pretending that I'm the one going on this trip, because I know I'm probably never going to do anything like that in my lifetime!😂
You might be interested to know that Amtrak is in discussion for a new generation of these bilevel cars. According to the request for proposals, the new ones should have a lot more outlets, enclosed gangways between cars, electronic doors lockable from the outside of the sleeper compartments, and single-seat sleeping compartment pods someplace between a Roomette and a business class lie-flat seat. Assuming the contract to buy them gets funded at all with....everything.
The majority of the operating Superliners (284) are Superliner Is, from the 1970s, about 45 years old with refurbishments since, with 195 Superliner IIs added in the mid-90s and thus about 30 years old. If the contract goes ahead, the plan is for the new bilevel purchase to replace all of those.
I'm taking this same train in January with a sister, mom & dad! They are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary and Anna and I are there for it. TOOT TOOT.

Well in finland it has been crazy week end we had a massive snow storm and now everything is covered in snow also there were massive winds and the snowplow guys are now really busy and hard working because the snow amount but still its cool to think that in finland we go to work and school even if we had huge snow storm in other countries the work and school are usually closed because too much snow:)
I have ridden on many of your Amtrak routes, and enjoy seeing a different version of my journey. I have used the Empire Builder for more than 30 years. Great maintenance keeps the antique stock rolling. when you showed the downed trees in the Cascades, they are tree fall from storms. recent storms will have tossed many more on the ground! Appreciate your videos. muchismas gracias🚂
Years ago I knew a gal whose husband was a chef for Amtrak based out of Seattle. He'd go roundtrip and then have a few days off. They would take vacations riding on a different route every year.
I have have taken this train in each direction (in 2011). I was supposed to fly from Chicago to my home, but the train was so late, I got off in St. Paul and flew from there to Chicago to get home. I'm glad you were able to get Japanese food from Mitsuwa - they have a really good food court, and Kinokuniya.
Hi Just watching your video. I was on the Southwest Chief this summer, from Illinois to New Mexico. . This train is very similar to the Umpire Builder. I had a room . It as I little bigger than the roomette. The food was excellent . All the staff were nice. I am had an enjoyable trip. Thank you for sharing.
32:25 Good job, soldier! It was indeed a bomb. You saved a lot of people that day. o7 40:42 That was hilarious! Water me papi! 41:56 WTF! What a turn of events! WTF is wrong with people seriously? 44:04 Something about the announcement from the train crew, it was so nice and warm.
A lot of people make fun of the rail system in the US but Amtrak does a lot with a tiny budget. The workers especially really seem to care. The train here just isn’t that popular and doesn’t make a lot of money anymore. Vegan is tough but that’s a choice. I’m allergic to gluten which is very difficult when traveling.
Here is some Holikday train Humor. "OVER THE RAILS AND THROUGH THE WOODS TO GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE WE GO, THE TRAIN KNOWS THE WAY TO ROLL THE WAY THROUGH THE THICKEN SNOW.
How did you manage to travel to Chicago the like 1 day that it was extra cold and windy?? I've lived there my whole life and it takes courage to go outside when it's that cold, much less go for a walk along the lake 🥶 glad it doesn't seem like you got frostbite, those people in Montana are crazy for being outside when it's -27.
You were in my home state! I live just north of the Twin Cities. You lucked out and came at a not so snowy time. We had a very cold but not as snowy winter this last year.
Solo San, A simply gorgeous vlog in the snow. I grew up in Minneapolis and no one knows why it isn't one city. Best line: Elsa's Fight Car. Laughed out loud for a LONG time.
You were brave to Amtrak it….. I applaud you for your verve and patience as you endure US Passenger Trains (aka - Amtrak 👎 ) …. but, I am happy to see you survived those 3 days plus the Winter adventure in Chicago. Solo Solo Travel wins, again!
Wow, I’ve lived at both ends of your journey! And I’ve ridden the Empire Builder, about 10 years ago. We were delayed 20 hours due to slow freight trains.
Wow, that was an epic journey and maybe not in the best way. You are a dedicated UA-camr to continue on throughout those challenges and the Polar Vortex too! Hopefully you will get to take the Southwest train journey someday soon and have a pleasant experience.
I've spent plenty of time at King Street Station over the years from commuting on the Sounder trains. I live on the other side of the country now, but it feels a bit weird to see Japanese travel bloggers doing videos of things I am very familiar with. The Empire Builder also passes through Everett Station only a few miles from where I used to live.
hello everyone! There will be no type 2 diabetes from overeating. It's just from nerves. if you overeat sweets, the maximum that can be is a rash on the skin. now about the weather))) it is always much colder and windier near reservoirs than away from them =) thanks for the video and for the walk! I really liked it!
What a great trip. Correct me if I wrong, if you want a better panorama, try the Portland part of the train, but the downside is you can't access dining car, since the dining car on Seattle part of the train. The trip didn't end well since the harsh weather make the train going trouble for a while, and more bad news is your train got cancelled. I think your cancelled train trip can be try during outside winter.
I love the Empire Builder. It's so beautiful, and so emblematic of everything that's actually good about America and American rail travel. It is definitely not perfect here, but we have some really lovely and worthwhile services here in this country that cannot be written off. Thank you for riding and enjoying our beautiful trains here in the US.
It makes me so happy that your videos are getting so many views now! What brand is your suitcase? It seems super practical for travel - I love the colour too. Makes me happy when I see it being wheeled around in your videos.
