I carry mine in a pathfinder pouch clone, couple of space blankets fit down the sides to pad it nicely, and the pocket at the front is a good size.
I really should throw up a video to add to the myriad Stanley carry vids some day.

FOR WOUND CARE: You could add a small tube of Neosporin inside the kit. It would take some shifting around but I think it would fit. It would, of course, have to be the small/mini travel size tube. Having a wound, while out and about , is no fun and having an infected wound is even worse.

One other item if you need more would be a small spool of unwaxed dental floss. It is compact about 40 lb strength, and cheap
I've used it for fishing, repairs, snares, and yes for sutures on big wounds. 😮 I do a lot of outdoor activities as a civilian, A N D as a Marines "Doc."

Nice job on the survival tin. If it's in your cookset, then your cookset is part of the kit and you don't need the aluminum foil to boil water. Also, if you have a few extra bucks I would recommend the Leatherman Squirt PS4 instead of the Gerber. It's of comparable size and also offers scissors, pliers, a file and screwdriver blades. The pliers couild allow you to pick hot items out of the campfire.

    • @WayPointSurvival
      @WayPointSurvival  3 роки тому

The foil is so that the main kit can be left at camp with another person, while the small kit is placed in a pocket for rambling etc. Also, I always carry a multi-tool on my belt so I always have pliers etc. Thank you for watching!

Hi James. There is one item which can be added which is the plastic flint and striker wheel from some disposable lighters. This takes a standard lighter flint by unscrewing the plastic cap with spring which becomes a source of sparks.
A good idea here is to look at the British SAS escape ration pouch or the BCB survival tin contained in a 50 gram tobacco tin.

I just picked up an Adventure Cookset a couple days ago! I also decided to pick up the Stanley Boil and Brew the same day after I discovered that they can nest together with or without the brew insert! ( brew top will have to be separate but will all still fit in the condor style pouch. I also picked up a couple things for some mods and hacks today. Your hack videos for this set are second to none!! I hope to do one or two of my first UA-cam Videos very soon and will be on this topic. Thank you for all you do for this channel!

The best and, I believe, the intended way to use a pocket chain saw is to use a pliable stick to form a handle, much like a hacksaw. Try it this way and you'll begin to appreciate the saws a lot more. Just be sure to notch the stick where the keyrings will sit.

Instead of carrying a wire saw, there might be enough room to roll up a bucksaw blade inside the tin. It does take some setup to use and you need a knife or something to make a bucksaw, but it'd be a supremely useful tool.

Wow! -incredible useful items in a very small pack. Still room for improvement:
    a) if you carry Exactor and utility blades, there's no need for a hacksaw blade as a striker for your ferro-rod - replace it by an alcohol wipe
    b) double up the mirror and drill a hole in the center to make it a true signal mirror
    c) after bending (flattening the pan) aluminium, don't forget to heat it up to soften it, or it will break when you try to open it up again
    d) wrapping sewing needles with duct-tape I always found very annoying, you don't get the residue off the needle in the field - so I first wrap the needles in a small piece of waxed paper
    Stay safe and take care

2 Thumbs Up - as this kit is versatile without spending hundreds. The small tin you speak of is about $0.50 USD on, Amazon - I obtained a similar one with English Sweets (Candy in America or Lollies for us Aussies) in a Xmas Hamper. I would add a small cloth bag to carry the kit in assuming you have no other bag/s.

The tins that the amazon link takes you are small for the pot, big for the cups. That being said, a pair of almond tins fits wonderfully if you leave out the green cups, while an empty 28 ounce peanut butter jar will fit in the pot to the rim. The pot lid will be held down by the handle, or you stow it at the bottom of the pouch or a pocket. I really like the peanut butter jar- two wraps with teflon tape and that is for all practical purposes water proof.
A 16 oz peanut butter jar has an angle that will snug into the green cup, but not go all the way to the bottom and the combo is about an inch, inch and a quarter, too tall, so I think one of the little 120z jars should fit. It will have some gap between the jar and the inner wall of the green cup. Oh dear, I guess we'll just have to wrap a couple feet of duct tape around the jar. Whatever would we do with duct tape if we were in a real survival situation? :P

James...I've seen a few times those "solar stoves" where apparently if you lay it down, and put some dry tinder on it that apparently it's made at "the perfect angle" to where it will catch the suns rays, and combust the tinder into a flame.
it seems like a good idea to have one for survival scenario's incase you run out of stuff to light a fire with, but it almost seems too good to be true. could you maybe do a short show, n tell in a video of theese, and tell the pro's, and cons of them... or if they even work at all?

Aww Yeah! He's back with another Stanley video.
    How are ya today James?
Edit: nice kit man, love the size and that it fits in the Stanley set. Bravo 👏👏. Kool to see the Gerber EAB in there. I carry it for work and when I wanna go minimal for edc.
