Just as you describe there is a clear difference between proof and uncirculated. Had sets just like the ones you showed. My Mom ordered them every year. Had the hard sets as well. Sold all of them years ago.
Wow, how timely - on Friday I saw a 64 set on ebay that had a suspicious looking quarter. I had to get it just to see. If I hit the 1-in-a-million jackpot I'll definitely let everyone know! if not, I still got a nice 64 set in a cool holder.
I have seen many people take them out of the package and make their own so called sms sets. I have never done that and I never will. Awesome content and very informative video. Thanks Daniel for sharing this for us. All the Best ~ Shirl
I was curious to see if I ever found any SMS coins in rolls of 65 through 67 and I think that I have not based on your criteria. I have found 2 64 Proof Kennedys. It was somewhat hard to tell on these until you showed me the difference. Thanks for sharing really helpful.
Had quite a few mint sets long ago. Know what mint coins look like. I have gone thru so many boxes of pennies a few mint strikes get put in bank boxes. They look not only uncirculated but also struck very well. Red plus very clean features.

I have all of the Clads from 1964 to 2019. I am starting to collect the proofs and I just bought a set off of ebay that is suppose to have a 64 proof, a 65, 66, 67 SMS and a 68 and 69 proof. So I am excited to see if I got what I paid for or did I get ripped off.

I have a doozy of a coin. Can anyone verify if the 90% silver quarter from 1964 sms is supposed to be partially reflective of images? I have watched dozens of videos and read all the internet articles I could find about the the sms 64s vs the business strikes or the special strikes and I haven't found anything that talked about reflectivity. Also are there any special strike 64s known to have originated in the Denver mint? So do I have a reflective d mint coin that is a 64 silver or did I just uncover Moby Dick?
Can I send you pictures of my 1964 mint set there’s a Denver Set and the Philadelphia Set together in a plastic container and how do I get in touch with you if you’re interested thank you
I understand you saying the 1964 doesn’t have special packaging is that correct The thing is I have 2 sets of 1964 mint set in packaging one from Denver one for Philadelphia I’am a bit confused I will post the pictures on the community coin help
I believe I may have a 1964 SMS Quarter. Is there a way that I can contact you to send you some images? I would love to have you take a look at it and tell me what you think. It would be greatly appreciated.
You're not going to find one like this, sorry. I am not the person to contact, an expert needs to see it in person. Only way you could have one is if you had personal ties with a former mint director Eva Adams. These where not released to the public.
I just found some 1964 sertten finish very shiny looks new penny also dime & quarter , my question is how do know that it’s SMS , please ripply , thanks
@CoinHELPu sorry about that. I misunderstood the information given to me. I dug a little more, and whala! Thank you very much for your time to help us out here. Take care, and God bless you amigo.
I have this proof set with the exact lines the satin finish 1964 no mint mark I've had in my safety security box for over 50 years is there any way I can contact you sir?
@@CoinHELPu yeah I realize that I didn't think it was the actual SMS I didn't mean to say that if you thought that but what I meant to say is my Kennedy half dollar has the same exact markings the scratches on the neck are the lines on the neck and I'm very Square in sharp edges to the coins and the penny is very thick is this common with the thickness of the penny? The lines on the neck are 100% exact so I'm assuming the proof sets had the same type of scratch marks?
@CoinHELPu pretty strange though how the 1965 so-called special mint strike is very reflective at least according to the ones I've seen on websites that are for sale
I finally found the 1964 sms set a month ago. After watching this video it took me only one week to find it . It just got delivered and now I wanna have them graded. now I’m confused how am I supposed to tell them how much they are worth and have to pay more on insurance and variety. Is sms considered a variety and why are those fees there aren’t they supposed to tell me what the coins are isn’t that the main reason for them to tell me everything about the coin
@@CoinHELPu it was an Estate auction I have compared to other sms I came to conclusion why people couldn’t noticed them. In white lights they have a mirror finish to them the Kennedy would look nickel plated when you take a picture of it. The cent would look orange the quarter and dime bluish tint. But on normal natural light quarter nickel and dime will look smoke frost and the Kennedy would look Matte. I used a magnifying app with different filters to make sure the coin was ms70 state. I’m just not sure if the strikes is all there. Pictures I took with a iPhone 12 Pro Max. Makes the coin extremely life like so to the point the Lincoln looks like a fake rendition being too clean.
The collection had everything ungraded and recognized some of the coins at a recent heritage auction recognized the green coin roll wraps, Morgan CC holders and the cent errors 1995 1966 1982

I believe that you mentioned that the 1964 SMS coins didn't come in the packaging for the public. I have two sets each from the Treasury from 1963 and 1964. Could this be a fluke?
I am trying to determine if my 1964 " D " half dollar that has a very shinny surface and a couple marks on it, if it is worth anything of great value....the coin looks as if you just went to the bank in 1964 and picked it up...could you, or anyone else help me out here ( I'm not a coin collector ).
Great info, finally someone did a video on this. I bought 3 unopened boxes of the 65,66,67 SMS sets. But they all look like they have the SMS strike not the business strike. This video is going to be very helpful. So the business strikes come in the SMS sets as well? Or just put in circulation?

I was fairly certain that it was the frist moment i layed eye's on it, because it doesn't look like any other 1964 nickels that I've ever seen, and brother I've looked at millions. I see why the SMS-64's are so sout after, they are "absolutely beautiful" with a half Gold, half Silver look that stands out inside a high rem, they have no ment mark, a Satt Finish, pinkish trailing in all letters/words, also but underneath front and back in all words date included, there's blackish/brown righting/numbers ? Can I send you pictures of my 1964 mint set there’s a Denver Set and the Philadelphia Set together in a plastic container and how do I get in touch with you if you’re interested thank you
It's worth $45, they're not rare.
I understand you saying the 1964 doesn’t have special packaging is that correct
The thing is I have 2 sets of 1964 mint set in packaging one from Denver one for Philadelphia
I’am a bit confused I will post the pictures on the community coin help
Those are normal mint sets, they come like that. SMS sets are not mint sets.
It's not an SMS they were not released to collectors or in any sets at all.
Danny.? Do you think they might have a SMS SPLIT SET OUT THERE IF YOU HAVE THOSE STRUCK MINT MARKS ON IT. ? JUST WANDERING?
No none of these are out there.
Buenas tardes tengo una serie de half dollar Kennedy 1964-1964D, q quisiera compartir con múltiples errores
I have so many error coins and double die coins but can't sale any on eBay 🙃 please tell me how I can sale my coins, thanks.
I have a 19 74/4 that is out of round. Is that a mint error?
1974 quarter out of round.
i have that coin can i send a picture if my coin have a high value
I have one coin i want to sell it?where can i sell my coin im from philipppines
What about your 1971Eisenhower SMS.
No such thing.
I have a 1967 sms set, and the quarter has a CAM on the reverse. Would it be worth getting it graded?
I can't answer that question.
It's worth $35
@@CoinHELPu yeah I realize that I didn't think it was the actual SMS I didn't mean to say that if you thought that but what I meant to say is my Kennedy half dollar has the same exact markings the scratches on the neck are the lines on the neck and I'm very Square in sharp edges to the coins and the penny is very thick is this common with the thickness of the penny? The lines on the neck are 100% exact so I'm assuming the proof sets had the same type of scratch marks?
@@riggedreality420 all of them have that, they’re normal.
@@CoinHELPu okay thank you sir I learned something
@CoinHELPu pretty strange though how the 1965 so-called special mint strike is very reflective at least according to the ones I've seen on websites that are for sale
Were the sms sets typically in a plastic case with penny, nickle, dime, quarter and half dollar?
I watched your video and think I may have a set.
Only found in Eva Adams estate, she was a former mint director, so you couldn't have one.
@@CoinHELPu see attached photo.
You didn't get an SMS set, you can't buy them nor find them, they don't exist outside of collections of people who bought them at auction.
@@JONJon-COD it’s a proof set and they’re not MS70 just because they in the package.
The collection had everything ungraded and recognized some of the coins at a recent heritage auction recognized the green coin roll wraps, Morgan CC holders and the cent errors 1995 1966 1982
@@JONJon-COD estate sale or not, you bought a proof set. If the estate was from a former mint director I would take notice but these sales happen every week. I would not buy into anything they claim. Let coin experts guide you, they prey on people who don't know more than they do.
Why is it these originally were with a mint employee? Seems kinda like ehhhh insider trading so to speak
We see this a lot.
@@CoinHELPu thanks for the reply, i enjoy the videos man!
Yeah...i feel like you do.
I have this one 1964 Kennedy.
I believe that you mentioned that the 1964 SMS coins didn't come in the packaging for the public. I have two sets each from the Treasury from 1963 and 1964. Could this be a fluke?
Those are not SMS, so no it's not some fluke.
Thank you.
I am trying to determine if my 1964 " D " half dollar that has a very shinny surface and a couple marks on it, if it is worth anything of great value....the coin looks as if you just went to the bank in 1964 and picked it up...could you, or anyone else help me out here ( I'm not a coin collector ).
It's worth around $13 to $15
@@CoinHELPu Thanks...
I'm sorry to bother you, but I trust your opinion's....What about a 1963 Benjamin Franklin half dollar that was stuck 4 times?
@@tyus1932 please go to error-ref.com and look up double struck and multiple struck coins.
Great info, finally someone did a video on this. I bought 3 unopened boxes of the 65,66,67 SMS sets. But they all look like they have the SMS strike not the business strike. This video is going to be very helpful. So the business strikes come in the SMS sets as well? Or just put in circulation?
I just bought a 1964 U.C. in an envelope
Can these kinds of coins be found in circulation?
No, you can't find them at all.
No, you can't find them at all.
I have two nickel quarter sets SMS sets
BOYFRIEND...why ARE their heads smaller Mr. Malone? Little CONFUSED about the SMS sets.SMILE BOYFRIEND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤I missed your videos....l-ve stalker
HEY YOU....NEVER STOP SMILING!
I don't see that, they're the same size.
@@CoinHELPu not quite sure BOYFRIEND?❤ummm it is a deep cam
My 1954 are like that
The 64 sms Kennedy is Not identical with the /65 -67. 64sms are like a Kennedy from the Denver Mint but more reflective and cleaner..
The he SMS are not reflective at all.
Thanks Daniel, you no
"for bringing the (64-SMS
Halfdollar) into perspective" i completely understand what a (Kennedy Half-64-SMS) must look like' Plus now and after I've watched your Video
(The 1964-SMS-101)
witch was very well putrid by the way) i can honestly say because
"with the imfo you gave, and with my 1964/ Nickel in hand, that (i found in the wild) it is in fact-a 1964-SMS Coin. But it doesn't take away from the true beauty in anyway.
I'm very fortunate to have found this Coin and i no that. I don't take Coin Collecting for Granted (Never Have/Never Will)
Thank you for your truest knowledge my friend, and may the search be with you.
I have seen that regular quarters from 1965 are worth $1 is this true for all quarters?
Where have you seen that?
I don’t have a SMS 1964 coin But a 1964 coin of Kennedy Silver Half dollar in a an envelope packet with a 1964 penny…it says, “HISTORY REPEATS” and on another end it says, “THE LINCOLN/KENNEDY CONNECTION”…I wonder if they have value, great value.
Nope, they didn't come from the mint that way so they're normal and common business strike coins.
@@CoinHELPu So the Packet is not from the Mint but they are not fake nor phony…it’s a coin minted from Mint except it’s set up or done in a different Packet by somebody…it’s should have value considering it’s a Silver Kennedy half dollar…don’t you think so?
@ I knew, as I said from start it was not SMS…I’m just inquiring about the coins value that’s all…and describing to you it’s packet even I bought it from a coin Shop as it is…
@ use a price guide to look up their value. coinflation.com for silver value.
