Thanks for another update on these 64 Kennedy's. Things are changing so fast and people are finding more and more interesting coins. I appreciate your videos and research. ☺
wish me luck. AT longbeach i consigned a raw almost perfect 1964 proof (auction house says will get 68 dc or better) and have equally beautiful 1964 dc accented. Oh yessss!! My friends kept saying of don't bother with Kennedy's (never going to be valuable). I loved Kennedy and always loved these coins.
Good morning Just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge about the Kennedy halves. I have some I have saved over the years. I do have a 1965 Kennedy half.
Thank you very much for this video J&B you always have great information unfortunately for me my Kennedy half dollars are in circulated condition but I will weigh them no doubt about that thanks again I hope everyone is doing well
You could spend a substantial amount of time really trying to grasp the amount of little nuances to this coin. Between double dies, accented hair, satin finishes, cameos and so forth it's a coin that's extremely rich in history and tells a story. I've been picking up 20 count proof tubes of these for years, all 1964s just because I love silver and if nothing else you still got some melt value but back 15 years ago when I started scooping them I didn't know anything about coins and it's been a real learning experience and I have made some really nice finds after I actually started being responsible about collecting coins and not just shooting from the hip. I had a gorgeous cameo in my safe for years and a few accented hair proofs along with some gem proofs that I ended up getting certified that I wasn't even aware of.. Great video and great coin!
I only have one 1964 Kennedy. I'll have to look at it to see if it has the accented hair. I'll have to take it out of the airtight to weigh it. Love how shiny and pristine the one sold for $20K is.
I have this exact coin with the mint marker D next to the eagle and it has the accented hair. Also the coin is unpolished and no blemishes. It's practically in mint condition.
Huh. Most of those coins with the extra hair also have a deeper dent in Kennedy's cheek. Amazingly, this gives him a slimmer and much more handsome look. Very cool. Thanks again J&B, great research.
I pulled a handful of old 1964 silver coins in a house demo this morning. A few of these coins came out of an old clock which looks like bankers recieved as an award? The clock was damaged but the coins were mint and looks as if they just came off the press. How can I find out the value of these coins and where they were struck? I have a 1969 Half Dollar thats also silver.
I've just been keeping all silver halves - never realized that there were so many different varieties of 64 halves! LOL - I love how you put that... "As far as we know, no 64 Kennedy halves were found on 40% planchets. Yet." =)
I know that I have at least two of the Accented Hair PF (PR) coins. I'm going to have to get those suckers out and see what's up with them. I'm confused on the one that JKO had done up with the hair done differently than the regular AH coins. I heard what you said but I'm going to need to go over it again I'm sure. (things don't stick the way that they used to stick). Have a great afternoon and night J&B Thank you for making this video. Oh! I'm trying to get my hands on a quarter box too. This time the lady didn't give me those lies about it costing the credit union money to get them for me. I ordered a
I have a 1964 Kennedy half dollar. I'm still learning all the terminology but I know it's in very good condition I would say very fine to extremely fine, almost uncirculated. It's very like the one towards the end of your video, ie NOT with the accented hair. Could it be worth anything more than a few dollars?
In 1964 our bank got in Kennedy half dollars mounted in clear displays. They sold them for 50 cents. I still have mine and I never taken it out of its case. How do I get it graded?
JB hi! Good morning. I have a 1964 JFK half dollar that I think it's a prototype not an error coin. I research for the designer of the coin but he passed away. I don't want to mail it to PCGS for coin grading and certified it because it might be lost. I'm thinking you can help me so I can entry my coin for auction on PCGS. JD have a good day & more power to you.
Great video, I have an uncirculated 64 Kennedy Half Dollar that my Grandmother bought at the mint in 1965, It is still in the plastic case it came in. Looks like the accented hair one with the partial I. Is there anyplace I could send a picture to for a rough idea on its vlaue? Any place local to me in Southern Ca. that you would recommend for an analysis>
I have this coin. I am certain it's the one year kinnedy 64. And I don't have the knowledge in coin grading to back this but I'm willing to bet that it would/will be graded in mint condition. Checking it out in a few hours. Then going to see about getting it graded..
Hey scott... Lol... How you like my comment about "combing" through my 1964 halfs ...looking for accented hair.... 😂 lol... Get it "combing"...im sure one of the thumbs had to be from you or realruler... Lol lol lol....
I have PCGS graded ‘64-D without the “D” designation, and an ANACS-graded PR 64 DDO/DDR/accented without the accented-hair designation. What is up with these graders?
Need help my grandfather has passed and I have 31 of these 1964 Kennedy coins. 12 of them have D the other don’t have a mark. How do I go about getting the valued?

Are you saying that the NGC, MS68, coin is a accented hair variety, and it's a business struck coin? I have not heard this. I thought they were only proof coins.
Ok guys i need help..my uncle had 12 rolls of 1964 Kennedy's..which are in the same rolls and same mailing boxs from when he got them in the mail in 1964...they have never been circulated un touched for 56 years...i need advice thanks
No - the accented hair was ONLY minted in 1964 - and there were millions minted that did not have the accented hair . Only a few of the early editions of PROOF SETS of 1964 had this ..,
I have a 1964 with accented hair... is it worth something, and if so where would I go to get it appraised and sold? (unfortunately it is not mint condition)
I have eight 1964 p half dollars. One is really dull, it doesn't have the shiny gleam that the other seven does. It weighs 12 grams. Do you have theory on why it has no gleam to it?
Hello again J&B. This video excites me because of that entire roll I found that hasn't ever seen the light of day with the exception of the two I took out of both ends just to be sure it was a full roll. I was super lucky to come across that at my bank. Hopefully I'll find a few that can be sent for grading. That would be sweet. Thanks for posting this video. 😀🙏👍
Hi from the U.K. I have a 1964 Kennedy coin which weighs 12.5g, but also I wonder about the obverse, which is struck up-side down compared the Eagle. could this be a minting error?
