Nothing to make a Friday better than a new video drop from The MotoMD! Another great video with awesome tips and tricks, as always! Thanks Cody and hope you're doing well brother!
@@TheMotorcycleMD great video indeed man. Thanks a lot!!! for those of us who have this type of motorcycle it is of great help. I'm not in America, and it is so hard to find good cuality parts
Good detail, thanks Question I have is determining of the 2 jets that look the same but have different jet holes, these are the primary and secondary jets, which is which....is the primary the one with the larger hole?
Thank you MD~! I'm working on a 1981 CM400A with the secondary carb overflowing thru the drain line. I took everything apart and will clean like you suggested. The needle valves had witness rings on them and 1 of the floats had liquid in it. Hopefully they were the issues as the bike started and runs fine. One other observation was my carb didn't have the o ring that seals the accelerator pump fuel bowl orifice to the carb body orifice. I noticed some accelerator pumps kits have the O-ring and some do not, any idea which is correct?
Thanks for this video. I'm rebuilding the same set of carbs. is there a hose that connects these two carbs together on the small nipple near the air stop valve ?
very useful man. I have a CM400t and I never knew how to clean that little tiny jet at the accelerator pump. To make it all worst I just cleaned and put the carbs in hahaha haven't fired it yet. I was thinking to pull it out and check it hahaha
Hey have a 79 honda 400cc followed your videos having issues with the rubber hoses on the duel carb does every fitting need a hose or a cap don't know if something is missing
Never heard of someone doing such a task and it working. Also have never seen where someone sourced the parts to do it. But I suppose with a lathe, some brass and a sharp eye anything is possible.
Great tips. Folks always acting like working on bike carbs is some mystic art because they miss the devil's details your pointing to. Take care brother.
When you measure a drill, measure the "lips" of the drill (the two points that do the cutting, at tip, before taper) thats the widest point of drill. Source- am machinist
Hi, I have a Honda CM400C, and there is a problem starting the motorcycle after it has been sitting for a week. If I turn it on every day there is no problem. The starter turns the engine but it doesn't turn on easily (with or without choke) finally it turns on. what could be the problem ?
Sounds like a pretty normal carbureted bike to me! You may not actually have any problem! Try full choke, full throttle on starting and feather the throttle once she fires up.
A nice compact video. So Cody, as you mentioned in this video, how would you replace a seat in the carb if you suspect it is worn? What is your source for obtaining reliable parts? And is there an alternative resource for detailed repair manuals besides the virtually worthless Clymer books?
Have you tried, or what do you think about the rebuild kits on amazon ? Going to rebuild 4 carbs off a 82 CB900c... 30 bucks for 4 kits just sounds to good to be true
Helped out a lot my bikes running on one cylinder until about 3,000 RPM then they both pick up clean both carbs the same just one of them is giving me hell
Bro I was JUST about to clean my carbs for the first time on my bike bike until 1:56. I literally lost that spring 😭 any one know where I can get a replacement?

Great work! I just rebuilt my cm450 carbs
Hi Cody, your videos are my "go to" for my CM400 and 450's. You mentioned a link for the micro bits, but I can't find it?

Do you have a go to kit or site for quality jets, rubber seals and needles?
Do you have how to clean carb for 2007 Yamaha vmax 1200 pls
Can i send you this carb to go through? You look like you do a great job.

Hey bud, how do I know what tubes from my carb plug into the petcock, engine. And which are overflow tubes?
Didn't see the link for the micro drill bits.
Cody can you put this?
Hey have a 79 honda 400cc followed your videos having issues with the rubber hoses on the duel carb does every fitting need a hose or a cap don't know if something is missing
There is a tube that screws in under my main jet and then the main jet screws in, is that correct?
What is a good replacement for these carbs mine are stuck.
Could you go over a 65 black bomber?
I followed your cleaning instructions. The bike runs great.. But it will not return to idle??? What am I missing?
How do you find the right carb jets? I cant seem to find the #72 main jet or main nozzle on any website..
Great video
What jets go where? When I opened the carbs up the jets where swapped. Thanks
Thank you very much, bro. Always very helpful your videos. 👌👌✌️
How can I get the brass valve out of the accelerator pump?
As a matter of interest can you get those float valve seats out to replace them. If so what's the best way.

Well said! Thanks for stopping by!
I desperately need a schematic for this carb set please

There is none that I know of my dude
Can I mail them to you to look at?

Wrap just a few strands of #0000 steel wool around a Q-tip and chuck in drill to polish float pin seat !
Helped out a lot my bikes running on one cylinder until about 3,000 RPM then they both pick up clean both carbs the same just one of them is giving me hell
I can ride now so I'm happy
@jasonwilliams4197 what did you find out that was wrong? Mine only runs on one cylinder also and i cant figure it out.
Bro I was JUST about to clean my carbs for the first time on my bike bike until 1:56. I literally lost that spring 😭 any one know where I can get a replacement?
Awesome!!!;)
Springs on the late 70’s PD carbs suck.

Can you just do it for me
How about I send you my carbs and you clean them? For real.
