  • Let's break down another central Texas lake. This weekend, I'll be fishing Canyon Lake for he first time in many years, and want to ensure my best chance for success. I show you my process of breaking down Canyon Lake, Texas and zone in on key areas that will hold bait and whites, hybrids, and stripers.
    When I hit Canyon Lake on Saturday, I will only fish these spots. if my method works, I should be able to find fish in one of these areas. Follow me on FB SkunkedAgain page, and I'll make those waypoints available to you to fish them for yourselves.
    I locate 3 jackpot fishing spots, areas that contain 3 key elements to holding fish: River bends, Humps/Points, and creek intersections. For these three jackpot fishing spots, I get those 3 elements and more. Hope you learn something new today to put more fish in the boat. Tim

    Thanks a bunch! I just started fishing canyon lake and the creeks around it. I'm a bank fisher. I just found out about navionics a couple weeks ago watching some catfishDave vids. That's one heck of a tool. I don't actually own the app. I have been searching for drop offs and bends. Your video helped a bunch. It shows the river bends that are close to shore and some of the drop offs I can possibly cast to. Thanks mate!!!

    Can’t wait to see how you do that lake has reputation of being hard to fish think cause of the size and also lots of recreational boaters during the summer

      Summer is not the time to fish Canyon Lake. Too many jet skis ad boats. Night fishing might be interesting.

    Yet another outstanding instructional video! I’m beginning to believe that if just keeping those three key elements in mind...bends, points and humps, and creek intersections...I should have successful fishing trips 95% of the time!

      Thanks Terry, very kind of you to comment like that. I used to go to a lake and look around. Now, at least I have a strategy. With enough time spent on the lake to account for the differences in lakes, clarity, fish patterns, you will have more success than without it. Sometimes a successful trip is to learn where they're not. I'll move around for 4 hrs without finding anything, then hit the jackpot at a certain depth, and catch a 100 in an hour! Tim

    Sound like you've got a good plan.....100fow? Wow...... I've only been over salty water that deep..... Is that a sand or gravel pit lake?

    • @skunkedagain
      @skunkedagain  4 роки тому +2

      Great question SK. It appears to be a natural river that was impounded. As you go up river, it's a gradual slope, so it doesn't seem to be a gravel pit lake. Not a lot of info on the web either. Yep, that's why you see me go up, up, and up river to find shallower water of 50'. Wish me luck this weekend. Thanks for your support. Tim

      Thanks Cody. There are some good areas in this map, and you will definitely improve your chances on those flats around channel bends. I actually fished it the same week I did this video, and caught a few, but more importantly, saw a bunch on Livescope, responding very lethargically. It's just a matter of time on this lake. Pick any of the areas I mapped, and try them out. Do you have a thumper? You'll need it. Call Eric at ThumpEmUpFishing.com

      Catch some small perch from the pier on the upper and of the lake and use them for bait. Or throw a cast net, and fish near the reed beds. Perch on a trotline works well too. Or fish the river below the dam.

      1/4" and a lot of time. With Livescope, you only have to go down to where they're swimming; typically, the middle of the water column, so it's not so bad. Thanks for your comments, Tim
