Start charging hefty fines on the spot if anyone leaves trash. It’s outrageous-no care for the town the lake and or nature around the lake. Sometimes sadly it’s the only thing people understand.

How bout just enforce the law. 500 fine 1st offense. 2000 and or possible jail time second offense. Any officer of the law can enforce this law in The State of Texas. It’s been on the books for as long as I can remember. The county can deputize park officials or even citizens. It’s just not being enforced.

I remember a time when an offender couldn’t afford the fine, community service (aka the public humiliation of picking up trash in the boiling Texas heat on the side of the 🥵 freeway was optional) and I’m pretty sure they can still enforce that too.

As much as I hate to say it, I think that Comal County should charge non-Comal County residents a fee for access to the county ramps. Those of us who live here are already paying taxes to subsidize out-of-towners who descend upon us and trash the place up. I’d be happy to pay a few bucks for a window sticker.

People (tourists mostly) have been doing this to many of the beautiful, scenic parks in Colorado. Even spraypainting on archeological sites, like canyon walls and big boulders. It's disgusting and disrespectful, and it seems like no rules or fines or closing roads or charging access is helping. It's caused a nightmare in local traffic, and they are obnoxious in little, quaint towns by leaving coffee cups, water bottles, kleenex, masks, candy wrappers, etc. in and outside of businesses. And it's getting worse each year.

Why do some people insist on being slobs, if you haul it in haul it out. I've personally witnessed people being a block from their house and throw sacks and fast food boxes out of their cars. Seems to mysteriously end up in their own yards or sometimes blows back into their car. We used to have a police chief that might cut some slack on traffic violations if not too drastic but had zero tolerance on littering, fines or community service, sometimes both. Leave no trace means leaving nothing
    but foot prints.

I get the same at my house.
People will throw their trash out their windows when driving by, or sit on the road behind my house to eat and throw the bags out the window...
Another big problem is neighbors who walk their dogs to behind my house and never pick up their dogs poop...

We walk around a mile of country road near our home for exercise regularly. Figure we might as well pick up litter along the way. Often bags are among the trash and come in handy if the Walmart bag we started with is overflowing. Recycle the cans, burn the paper and plastic in our burn barrel and the rest goes to trash cans in town. It's either that or let the farmers mow it up and scatter it in the road.
Do we get a pass on community service if we get in trouble? Lol

Create boundaries in the lake and police it!!
If there are no police on the highway, do you think that there might be more problems? Take away the double yellow lines, the signs, lights, etc,...
there might be more issues occuring.
They spoke of environmental issues, which is a hot spot issue of the gov't, yet they aren't using taxes appropriately to solve this issue.

An example of different kinds of people, using public facilities. When our local windy lake was frequented by windsurfers a few decades ago there were, often, 80 overnight sites filled on a good weekend. I was, sometimes, the last one to pack up and leave on a Sunday night. Nobody left as much as a gum wrapper behind, because we loved the unique site so much. Then, the state Fish, Wildlife, and Parks swooped in, claiming the site was over-crowded, and reduced the available camping sites to 18... basically, ruining it for many windsurfers that came from all over the state to grab some wind.

I was in a very respectable grocery store over memorial day to turn in recycling. It was obvious they were understaffed and the bins were full and all we could do was start stacking cans. Sometimes, staffing is a real issue.

If all fails if they don’t respect your demands, start charging them parking & entry fees. If this still doesn’t work, allocate destination spots with tagging their license plates just in case of vandalism and/or non compliance to to trash pick. I know this may not seem fair to others who have complied but something has to be enforced.

To some people it is acceptable to trash everything. They believe it is normal to do so and a way of life for them. I have even seen instances where this was done intentionally to create jobs.
There is a ymca in califurnia , everynight the parking lot is filled with fast food bags they toss out the window after their kids sports games.. Has been going on for decades. The rich folk say it is okay to do since they hired a parking lot cleaner that cleans up this specific mess everynight. It must be difficult to use a trash can at home ten minutes later.
