Pennsylvania father detained in Turks and Caicos reunited with family after more than 100 days

- After a Turks and Caicos court sentenced Bryan Hagerich to a suspended prison term for possession of ammunition, he returned to the U.S. and was greeted by big hugs from his two young children. Hagerich was on vacation with his family at the time of his arrest and says the bullets were left in his luggage accidentally. NBC News’ Marissa Parra has more.

Well, your not gonna like this but, we americans are so caught up in ourselves that we cant even follow directions. And then we say oops, didnt mean to. Just because the US doesn't care about the lives of its citizens and visitors doesn't mean that other countries should allow dangerous items. When you travel you have to check your bags carefully and check the laws in the places you are going. I find it horrifying that he didn't know where all his bullets were. He has kids and should always have the guns and ammunition locked up in separate areas to ensure that he keeps his own family safe.
They wanted to give Him over 50 months in Jail for a couple of Rounds of Ammo, that he didn't even hide. That's over 2 years. They don't give that kind of sentence to killer's in Great Britain. And he has young Children.
Why? American tourists have to respect the laws of other countries!

Your bags that involve any gun activity should be separated from non gun activity luggage. If you can’t afford both, thoroughly check your luggage. Shake it out and check every crevice. Just do whatever you can to prevent this. He had no bad intentions, but he could have lost a lot more time for this. Also, if you have enough money for a trip like this, you can afford to have different sets of luggage
It’s amazing how many Americans know so little about other country’s laws that they visit. There was an American woman who bought a $5 foot long Subway sandwich, planning to eat it on the plane, but forgot and was fined $1,844 when she entered Australia with food. Or the American college kid who tired to take home a North Korean poster as a souvenir and sent home brain dead after spending time in prison and his parents had to pull the plug on his life-support.

I am a truck driver for a long long time now if I make a mistake and forget to do my log correction or a bulb burns out a tire goes flat even though they're just mistakes I still have to pay a dear price for it why should you be any better than anybody else in the same situation your mistake pal

Wait a minute! If he took a carry on suitcase, how did he get through security? I think curbside luggage attendants need to have scanning machines. I bet that is how the ammunition got through. A poor rich guy gets busted breaking the law and everybody is supposed to feel sorry for him if I did that I would still be under the jail for many years to come even in America I believe that he did not want to throw the ammo out because it is expensive and hard to get and if he truly was that careless perhaps he doesn't need to have a gun around his kids you should know where your guns and ammo are at all times in my opinion for you to walk completely free from this one is total Injustice

Anyone who is so mindless about their firearm that they can just “forget” they have a gun or ammunition shouldn’t have a gun in the first place. He got off quite easy. Don’t travel to a country if you can’t do basic research on their laws and policies.
Last year I was in Europe cruise what I noticed not the young generation but the old generation from 65 years old and up where so rude unconsidered and selfish and embarrassing in Europe. The younger generations the 1:52 had morals, polite, nice and friendly. I was in shock.
