- Alice Stewart, a veteran political adviser and CNN political commentator who worked on several GOP presidential campaigns, has died. She was 58. CNN anchors Wolf Blitzer, Dana Bash, Laura Coates, Jim Acosta and CNN political commentator Maria Cardona join Jessica Dean to reflect on the Emmy Award winning journalist as a friend and colleague.

I read somewhere that she was an avid runner. I wonder if she was out for a jog when the medical emergency happened. As an avid runner myself and in the same age range, it's always in the back of my mind.

What a beautiful tribute! I lost my life long best friend last fall to a heart attack. She was a longtime nurse and only 55. I feel the heartbreak of the people interviewed regarding Alice. Such a sudden, unexpected loss. The grief is deep.

Did she really mean that much to them? I often wonder. Newsrooms are known to be cut throat as many workplaces are. When co workers of my friend came to her funeral, I already knew who was full of ish. My friend and I spoke about them prior to her passing. If you appreciate a co worker or employee, tell them or better yet show them. Treat them as colleagues, pay them what they're worth, give them time off when they need it.

I just read that for the past six months Alice Stewart visited cardiologists at hospitals complaining of palpitations and heaviness in chest. Doctors were not able to explain her symptoms, which often occur in people without heart disease. Her death was due to sudden heart stop.

Her life expectancy as a healthy well to do white female is 90. The jibby jabs changed all that. People don't just drop dead for no reason. Nature doesn't let people die haphazardly.

I usually disagreed with Alice's staunch Republican views, but I often learned something from listening to her debates with the opposition. Her intellect and insight will be sorely missed, especially in this important Presidential election season. I agree completely with what you said. While she sometimes annoyed me greatly, I found her commentary to be mostly honest according to her opinion and quite sharp. As much as I disagreed with her, I'll miss her presence.

Jim Acosta started crying on the phone as he talked about Alice. She and Maria were always on Jim's CNN shows together, they spent a lot of time on his show on the weekends. I can see why Jim A started crying, he is such a gentle humble human being who seems to be so soft spoken and never yelling or argumentive with anyone, yet speaks up courageously when needed, I really respect and love Jim Acosta as a reporter, journalist and human being. So glad he got his own morning week day show..
There isn’t a more phony pretend journalist than Acosta. He can take credit for a large reason CNN is in decline, just like the US military. An Oscar winning performance Jim, maybe a reminder of your own mortality was way overdue

Life expectancy for a well to do healthy white female like her is about 90. People don't just drop dead. That's not natural.
