Reapers is still growing on me at the moment but The Handler was just really great from the start for me. Btw these covers are great, really helps me hear the notes clearly to make my own covers! :D
I swear I'm the only one who likes all the songs they've released! :D Psycho may be simple but it's a damn awesome tune. Dead Inside is catchy and in my opinion like Madness was on The 2nd Law - it took me a bit of time but I now like it. Mercy is the same, it's a bit more poetic though and even if the lyrics seem forced I still like the song for what it is: a song. Reapers is beyond awesome, the classic Muse we were promised on this album, and with The Handler now released, it's cemented that that's what we're gonna get. Can't wait for this album!
Your work, especially with Muse, is honestly amazing. The only thing I wish I had now was a Muse video game haha I have no clue what the plot would be though...probably helping Matt take over the world or something ;) Thanks!
As I said on my last commentary, a noise part would have been cool, in exemple, a legato-ed noise for the solo's 'wavy' distortion. But once again, really amazing instrument configuration and omfgbbq level of accuracy there. (and this is all we want for a cover)
This is wonderful. I really like this, but I have one question. Do you have perfect pitch? I understand that without it, it would make recreating something like this more difficult. If you don't have it, how do you do it?
Musclebob Buffpants I wish! (Maybe I have relative pitch?) No, what I do is play the track alongside the timeline on FL Studio so I can work out what notes go where and at what time. I'll be uploading a "behind the scenes" video in the next few days, so keep a look out! :)
TomboFry, this is excellent work. Very fun to listen to. I am just curious - what virtual instruments do you use? I hear a lot of square waves with different duty cycles going on, some PWM stuff, possibly triangle wave layered in the bass line? It sounds a lot like the 2A03 from the NES and the drum samples sound like they could be from the Konami VRC6... but I'm just guessing using my ears. Are you using NesVST or maybe Plogue's Chipsounds? You're getting some really awesome sounds and I just was curious what instruments you have in your arsenal. Thanks!
I use ymVST, which is primarily just a square wave with built-in arpeggio settings and tremolo, the bass is a triangle wave layered with a 25% pulse, the drums are apparently sampled from a c64 (however the hihats are from somewhere else whose original location I cannot remember), and the guitar layer is using a distorted and bitcrushed 12.5% pulse. The pad pattern you hear in the chorus is basically just a saw wave. If you have any more questions feel free to ask! :)
TomboFry, wow, thanks for the really quick response! I guess my ears didn't lie. :) But, I've never heard of ymVST, so thanks for sharing that! I took a look at some screenshots and it looks amazing! Built-in noise gen, arpeggiator, trem, and a graphical envelope tool... Very cool! I'll definitely download it and give it a try. Looking forward to more of your tracks! I have some songs on my UA-cam channel - feel free to check them out. I'm just starting to get interested in chiptune stuff myself. Best Regards, -Brett
Best song off of Drones so far!
Sevil Dogan I'm so torn between this and Reapers so far. I seriously cannot wait to hear the rest!

TheRealXboxNerd My thoughts exactly!
TomboFry Glad you agree!
This song just shows the amazingness of Chris on the bass

+lsp7856 I'm actually working on a Muse/Green Day fan game rn and I guess you can say it's a little something like that.
A old school shoot em up would work.
Dat bassline. Dat riff. Dat falsetto. Dat kinda sums up the song nicely.
Chiptune and Muse combined =
You know that dom posted an ig pick of him watching your reapers video
