Muse - Time Is Running Out (REAL 8-bit)

- I think I'm gonna have to explain things. My last video of Time Is Running Out, like all my other videos, is not REALLY 8-bit music as written in my channel, because there are too many notes played at a time.
Here, you have a REAL 8-bit music, meaning it could easily be played on an NES/Famicom system for example. The video shows the software I use for this, "Famitracker", and all the notes/effects/etc I had to type in.

Now, question : do you prefer "real" 8-bit Muse, or "fake" 8-bit Muse ? Post your thoughts in the comments ! And thumbs up the ones you agree with.
You can compare to my other TIRO video : • Muse - Time Is Running...
Oh, and I was at the Video Games Live in Paris last week-end. That was simply amazing, go see them next time they're in your country.
Merry Xmas !! My next video will be a bit special, I hope you will like it =3
Enjoy !
Follow me on Twitter @Florio003 !
Bass sounds exactly the same.
This sounds extremely good... more like on an 8bit system.
Bury it. I won't let you bury it, I won't let you smother it!
Daniel Royal I won't let you murder it!
our time is ruuuuuunning ouuuuuut
This keeps getting nerdier and nerdier...and I love it. Keep it up...and I'm not even a big nintendo fan, never played a lot of games but I'd play anything with this song (or any of your muse 8-bits) subbed for the original track.
Definitely,I think he/she should do the whole Showbiz album.
I LOVE real 8 bit =) If you want to add more sounds, maybe it's real 16/32 bit? ;)
Keep it real tho =p
Peace - Norway
P.S It's also the silence between the notes that makes the music, I've heard.
Awesome!
I hope youre making Madness atm cause you fucking rock
Nicely done.. I love the effort
This is amazing...you are my new hero
This is utterly fantastic!
This is brilliant *_*
Pure awesomeness
This is awesome!
Whoa this is awesome
I much prefer real NES 8-bit.
I like both actually. I mean, I love your take on the 8-bits but hearing it in true 8-bit is cool too. There are parts of each that I like.
Honestly thought that I would prefer the "fake" 8-bit, but from comparing the two versions of TIRO I definitely prefer the "real" 8-bit.
Keep up the good work !!
you finally did it! and I didn't tell anyone :)
thanks for the download link made, appreciated!
I liked this a lot but in preferences i must say I prefer your other stuff, This is amazingly clever and props for doing such a good job, but the other stuff has a different kind of kick to it :) (In my opinion anyway)
Oh yes, 8-bit!! Upload more videos (fx when the new album comes out) :D
Love the bootsandcatsandbootsandcatsandbootsandcatsandbootsandcats beat.
I prefer the clean and sharp notes of real 8-bit. Excellent work!
Definitely prefer this version, thank you very much for doing this. Do you think you will ever do the same for any tracks by bands other than Muse? I do love Muse, otherwise I wouldn't be here on your channel but I would also love to hear this done to many other tracks by other bands.
Gonna take more work to bittify all muse songs the 8-bit and 16-bit way, but it's worth it!
so cool...
I second that!
Don't forget about the things you might miss when doing real 8-bits :3 i should finish the 16-bit stuff first tbh :$ (if it doesn't take much time to re-bit songs, you might want to do that too!)
I prefer the more complicated "fake" 8 bit, but I'd still really love to see more of this.
I prefer fake-8-bit, but this is also really awesome.
I prefer real myself- most of the 'fake 8-bit' is just running the MIDI through a VST that does the waveforms so you don't get all the rearrangement and compromises that gives you the 8-bit style.
Nice work :)
This is awesome xD
By the way, what did you use to get this video from Famitracker to UA-cam? (IE: How did you record the music, then put it into a video) ^.^ Thanks :D
Hmm well sound wise I prefer the fake 8-bit because they sound epic and better!
Bui having the old school 8-bit is cool as well.
I love ur 8bit covers and i hope u dont mind if i use one of them in my java game?
Just make both I reckon. They're both amazing in their own right, you shouldn't sacrifice one type over the other. Just make 8-bit and REAL 8-bit versions. I don't think anyone here cares about whether it can actually be played on an 8-bit system or anything, just as long as it sounds awesome. Keep it up, I love these things!
@sackus I know exactly what you are talking about. those who take a midi and run it thru that gxscc piece of crap. I hear that all over youtube, and people eat it the hell up. Its just not right man, its not the same! it disgusts me, its soo effortless. I give props to any one who uses ANY type of software that makes them have to work to have a sense of accomplishment. I myself use famitracker, and its coming up on a little over a year now. and im still learning tricks with it.
Good job uploader
I like this. How much memory does this take? Would it be possible to run video alongside it or is it already too complex?
SO FUCKING GOOD
Yeah
this would make cool boss battle
Like this particular version of TIRO more than the older one. The simplicity makes the song clearer. The fake 8 bit had too much going on.
I wish I could go back in time and replace the super mario brothers song on the NES with this. People would buy the game just for the song.
@GRaVITY2DX I just had a shot at doing 'bliss' on the C64 - v=pBvKD5fHqWA is my attempt, but I need to rethink it a bit. That synth line makes it and I really need 4 channels to do it properly. might do A NES version and fix it up
just great! i really enjoy listening to that and singing myself.
do you think you can do this to exo-politics sometime?
i'd have to say i like them both :)
Real 8 bit was awesome :)
Needs to be in the next megaman game
What about 'coma'?
around 0:57 it reminds me of Double Dragon... not that I can rely on my memory of it, since I haven't played it in 20 years
Win.
Before listening, not real is ideal in that it is 8 bit esque but muse level of depth, vs limitation mode.
so, both?
I imagine the guy trying to find each perfect bit one by one ...
That and "Boredom." :D
Oh, and "Ashamed."
Seriously, come to soundcloud, you'd kick ass.
That makes me feel funny. But in a good way. Mmm computer-y goodness.
This would be so awesome to play along to in a classic game. In Mega Man or something. I prefer real 8-bit.
you should do Sunburn Muse
1:44
how did you figure out how to use fami tracker im still stumped on it
2:32 - 2:48
real 8 bizzle!
I like some of the sounds on the real 8-bit better (like the snare one), but I really like the more "full" sound of fake 8-bit. I guess it depends on the song?
Square 1 = Voice, Square 2 = Bass, Triangle = Guitar and Noise = Drums?
@EkstraEray Don't you mean 0:00 - 3:54 ?
Now, is there a way to write these onto blank cartridges, so I can play this on my NES through the TV just for fun?
@sackus reply made on your video.
ace
or just looked up the sheet music...
another time
what program do you use to make these?
i want the friction!!!!!!!!!!! yeah good
Real
Fake 8-bit is better, but this is still cool
i think that you should do 8-bit AND 16-bit muse song. try to remake some of your older ones into 8-bit and listen to how much better/ worse they are.
Hmmm~ If Muse had a game, it'd be: Mega Muse in: The Warner Wars (aka Warner Bros, Records' founder aka Dr. Light or Dr. Wily) (Pun on Mega Man: The Wily Wars)
I preffer fake 8-bitted music, cuz it has more possibilities, isn't?
Amazing
i prefer the real 8-bit
Bartman meets radioactive man
I can see the matrix 0_0
It sounds like Dr. Mario music like this
I love this version :3 Muse is always awesome in 8-bit!
real or fake? heavily depends on the track
It's not because of the track, it's because it emulates true NES hardware.
I think he means which one he prefers :)
real 8 bit sounds cool, but i say both
This could come straight out of pokemon gold xD
Real Eight Bit! All the way.
5TAR
Definitely prefer real 8-bit.
well fake retro sounds better without a doubt... but real is WAY COOLER :D
Mostly fake, but maybe real mixed in with fake if you have the time or patience to multitrack it.
Hmmmmmmm they're both awesome.
But real 8-bit is more... real.
My vote goes to real 8-bit. :)
fake 8-bit is better :3 this is nice too, but dont have the something in it than in fake 8-bits
Like I've mentioned to you in private messages, these are almost perfect for the SNES. So if you keep doing them, don't call them "fake 8 bit", 16 bit would be more accurate.
And I used two of your MIDIs in one of my videos.
Blatant self-advertising.
Real by far...
I prefer fake 8 bit
Real 8-bit one is better by far!
I prefer fake 8bit
REAL is better!
