The Netherlands is a great country, except for this one thing: the climate. With an average of 100 minutes of rain per day, this place is just very, very wet. Here's how to survive... the Dutch weather!

It is simple. Take an umbrella with you and it won't rain. Leave it at home, and it will rain.
That's right! And if you want the sun to shine just wear a nice warm coat.
Not here it's always raining in The Netherlands
Invest in a raincoat and rainpants you can ride a bicycle with. It's worth it. Only sometimes you can't see left or right with that big thing on your head. Annoying. If you don't you'll walk around with wet skirts or pants all day at work or school. Not fun. Or take extra clothes with you. Be practical.

The most interesting part is when you arrive to Holland all prepared, wearing rubber boots and a rain coat, you look around and realize that Dutch people dont give a damn about it anymore, they wear sneakers, tshirts when its raining, they dont even catch a cold with that

But those 10 minutes in between each storm are amazing!

this is why I live in the area where there is the least rainfall and the most sun in the whole country. but then you go to town and it's wet everywhere. That's why I always take clothes or a umbrella with me on trips. I just let it rain and then dry again. thaadaa ... then you can watch how everyone is staring at you. especially if you go to Belgium or Germany. awesome hahahaha. i just dont get what the all fuss is about. it is just water

As a high schooler here in the Netherlands you’re a lucky kid when your mom or dad brings you to school with the car.
Especially when you live in Brabant where you have to go on your bicycle for over 40 minutes.
I always pity those kids. They don't get the daily confirmation that their parents trust their competence and they don't get the freedom to travel as they please on the way home. and if high school hadn't been such an atrocity I would have added cycling home with your friends to the list.

But we have made complaining about it a form of art.

Videos like these are actually even more useful for Dutchies to watch for a very different reason:
Like most countries, the country is filled with people believing, year after year, that the country is going to shit and that we have it so bad. Its very useful to see how others look at us from the outside in with perhaps a more objective less biased view.

It sucks i don't like the cycling tho. Some people love to see it and want to have it too. But i am 15 so need to cycle to school every day with Rain and wind against you NEED TO cycle over bridges tho. It sucks and by the law i can't ride anything different tho. I need to wait around 6 months to ride a moped, can't wait for it.

When it rains, you get wet. No matter what you do. Just accept it.
Also, expect to have at least one person complain about the weather a day. It's always too wet, cold, hot or dry😂🇳🇱
Another survival tip:
If you carry an umbrella ALWAYS point the tip on the top against the wind in. That way your umbrella won’t get destroyed
That last sentence though...
If the weather is any different from sunny, 20 degrees Celsius, and not windy, we find somethig to complain.

What a refreshing video. I'm in sunny California where it will continue to be sunny every day until the middle of September when on one day it will probably "sprinkle" on one or two days starting September 15, a quarter of an inch. Then it may not rain until December. October will still be hot when kids go out to "Trick or Treat". Or it could be cold. It's a lot warmer here than it was in the 1950, I remember that. Global warming. Send some rain this way if you get a chance. Thank you!

We don't even use umbrellas that much because they will get ruined by the amounts of wind (especially my town since I live directly next to the sea).

As a former habitant of 'Europees Nederland' (The Netherlands in Europe) I recognized a lot! Don't forget that the Dutch Kingdom is a little bit larger ... there is also 'Caribisch Nederlands' (Dutch Caribbean) en the Islands of Aruba (where I live now fro more than 25 years) Curacao and st. Maarten. We have our own perspecitve on weather ('Ay ... Calor!!') - I enjoyed your vidoe very much!

Super wet and cold super dry and blazing hot (25 C is hot here lol)
