I’m sure you’ll figure it out. I’m a new subscriber and so far the quality of the content is as good as any I’ve watched. I’m a big fan of Jakob & Doug and look forward to more of your videos. Thanks for the reply.
Very much appreciate you stopping by, we're always trying to improve the quality of our content so your feedback is appreciated :)
500 subscribers 3 years ago, now you’re over 10k. 👏👏👏👏👏🤘🤘
Well deserved 🎉
Thanks so much Scott!!
Thank you. Great vid! This helped demystify AUM for me...subbed
So glad we could help!
You’re vids have been the greatest tutorials.
Thanks so much Sheadon! Really appreciate that :)
Winter is coming so it’s time to get back to learning. Summertime is the time i play outside so I’m back at it. Just wanted to say thank you for the info you are publishing.
You're very welcome! Just glad to be of help :)
Thank you for your clear teaching
So glad the video could help :)
Great vid - very helpful. Would be super if you could match your mike gain to that of the instruments. When I listen to the tracks your voice is totally blown out, and I have to turn down my speakers.
Yep I started doing a much better job of that in later videos :)
Thank you! Very clear and smoothly explanation. Some things new for me. But tell me, why not to record everything on AUM and then export the audio files into cubasis as separate tracks? Has this some advantages? Nice channel you are building here!
Thank you so much! To answer your question, that's absolutely a route you can take! We probably should have also showed that option as well :)
I like your videos! Go on with your great work.. I start using aum too, and this helps a lot.. 😉✌️🎶
So glad this can help you! And might we add that we love your music!
Thanks! awesome
You're very welcome!
Hey man, love your work. I was wondering if you could do a video on how do you record simple audio vocals in Cubasis 3, using Behringer XR 18 as an interface?
Hey Mark, we'll for sure be doing a video on that pretty soon. But essentially Cubasis should automatically recognize the mic, and you can adjust the gain in the audio settings. You can also select your input on each track in the routing tab. Just make sure your the track is armed to record.
Also here's a few links to some videos that may help:

Boy I needed this channel. So well presented. Just got the DAW so I have a lot to learn.
And we still have so many videos to make! We haven't even gotten through our 1st year yet!
Bro .… you’ve been suuper helpful, man. You got a video on how to apply the SpinFX plugin effects on a track? I mean, I can press the buttons and hear the effect, but how do you actually record the effects on your track?
You can record spinfx automation. So essentially you add the spinfx to your master track, and then hit record and it will record your actions on the spinfx like pressing buttons and then will play those automations back again when you hit play.
This saved me I couldn’t get anything to work . I had to do it in the exact order you said cubassis track first then link up the AUM then open a synth app . Any other order I get no sound and can’t record . Ty so much !!!! I can use all my internet app audio synth again .
So glad we could help!
I have found a solution for an issue I was having with cubassis 3 running on a 2020 basic iPad 10.2 “ . I use a Bose Bluetooth speaker connected with a 1/8 cable to the iPad or to my itrack solo interface . Any inter app audio I use in cubassis or aum would not work until I turned Bluetooth off on my iPad while I record . Cubassis 3 kept trying to switch to Bluetooth mode and the speaker was set to aux 1/8 cable mode so no sound wold come out and cubassis couldn’t record any sound . So again the solution for anyone having this problem is to go to settings on your iPad and turn off Bluetooth while you are working with inter app audio and or aum and cubassis !
@@clear_gray_sky539 Very nice!
You’re awesome!!! With Audiobus 3, I was able to record different tracks from different inter apps in Cubasis 2 flawlessly. This is what I always wanted. The one built into cubasis 2 does not work half of the time go figure. So what does AUM offers that Audiobus 3 does not?
Probably the only thing AUM offers that AB3 doesn't is additional built in effects for each track. But this should not matter if you're just going to be recording into Cubasis and adding additional effects there.
@@MobileMusicPro oh! ok...good! that saves me money from purchasing AUM. What are the best AB3 settings for best audio recording quality into Cubasis 2? I have Ipad Pro 12.9 2nd gen.
thanks again!!
@@swifty1969 The default settings should be completely acceptable for professional recording use.
Hi mate, where are you, hope your ok ?! Nearly 600 subs now ! Any chance of a vid on how you’ve connected everything, like mics, keyboarders, guitars and so on. I don’t wanna appear too thick but Ime quite a beginner so could do with some help. Cheers.
We don't have a vid on how we connected everything but we do have a brief studio walkthrough where we kind of explain how everything is connected, the short answer is everything is connected to iPad via a usb hub including our mixer, focusrite, and all of our midi devices.
Great Vid! one suggestion would be a better balance between the voice over vocals and the music, they are quite different. Is it possible to also record midi at the same time to later edit the performance?
Yes you can absolutely also record the midi at the same time. To do that you'd just add a new midi track and arm it along with the audio tracks. As far as the imbalance in our audio yes we will be turning down the music audio from now on to better match the mic audio.
Please have a look at our latest video Processing Drums in Cubasis 3 and let us know if the audio is better balanced now :)
MobileMusicPro , just watched, nicely done. Much better balance. Thank you. Keep up the great work!
@@teleandtwin65 Thanks so much for the feedback :)
Bro thanks for your video really teach but one thing I wonder 🤔 how did you play? I saw’s the keyboard that there’s in AUM but didn’t see you use it so I can’t stop wonder
I have a physical keyboard hooked up to my iPad. In addition to that I also have a QUERTY keyboard and mouse hooked up, a korg KAOSS pad, and several novation controllers :)
Hi... Thank you for all these amazing videos...!!! I want to ask what model of iPad you use? And if it's possible for you to make a video about how much you can stress the iPad for music production by loading many tracks and FX both Midi and Audio with Cubasis 3 and also BM3 (BeatMaker 3) in case you can get this last one... It will be really appreciate... Thank you very much... Thumbs up and subscribed!!! 👍
We are currently using the 2016 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 inch. We are absolutely ecstatic about the 2020 iPad coming out though it's going to be blazing fast. We will certainly be doing a stress test video when we get that iPad and load Cubasis 3 with as many plugins as the iPad can handle!
@@MobileMusicPro Oh, that sounds amazing!!! Looking forward to see that video... Keep it up!!! All the best...!!! 🌟
The latest iPad has been released and it turns out it's only an incremental upgrade, not much faster than 2018 iPad at all in terms of processing power :( We planned on still preordering it anyway, and then all the virus stuff hit so we'll unfortunately going to have to be holding off on that purchase for a little while now until this stuff is mostly cleared up. Hope you're staying safe!
@@MobileMusicPro Yes, I saw the news. The only difference that matters a little for musicians is that they increase the RAM to 6 Gb in all of them, so you don't have to go to the 1T version the get that... 🤷🏻♂️ Hope you are safe too... All the best!!! 👍🏼🎹

Is there a benefit of using AUM for audio vs. inputting audio straight into Cubasis 3? If so I would like to know what it is
The only benefit from our perspective is workflow. Many people choose to create music "DAWlessly" and thus prefer the audiobus/aum workflow. However for final mixing/mastering one usually has to go into a DAW anyway which was the purpose of this video, to show those who are working with aum/audiobus that you can easily pipe your audio into a DAW like Cubasis 3.
Hello, I'd like to record vocals using the app vocalive & also record my electric guitar through Focusrite hub. Currently it's not possible, saying that the channel is in use. Will Audio Bus or AUM allow for me to record vocals from one app plus my electric guitar in another app? Also, I'm currently using garageband on my iPad. Besides Cubasis, are there other ways to record besides garageband on ipad?
You may want to post about your error in the cubasis 3 forum as cubasis supports up to 32 channels of recording. In each audio track there should be a routing tab and you should be able to choose your inputs there.
We forgot to mention this but make sure to remember to enable the background audio option in Cubasis! There's been many reports of crashes and glitchouts when trying to record audio into Cubasis via AUM or Audiobus when the background audio option is not enabled in Cubasis.
is it possible to route the input of AUM to Cubasis 3? I would like to use the AUM as a side Chain effect for my pre made sequence in Cubasis 3
Thanks
You can use side chain AUv3 effects within Cubasis so need to use external tools for just that effect. In order to use Cubasis as an input in AUM, if it's possible, you would simply just tap on a new AUM channel and select the input as Cubasis. You could also route Cubasis into AUM via audiobus.
In Cubasis 2.8 there’s 10 Chord Buttons where you can customise chords like Fmin (maj 7), or Fmaj7/G, Abmaj7/Bb or 2 note chords, that sort of thing, but in Cubasis 3 I can’t find a way to customise those types of chords, is there a way to to do this?
Yes you can customize the chords very similar to in Cubasis 2. We show you how to do this in our Cubasis 3 for beginners video, we've linked you to the exact spot where we show you to edit the chords: ua-cam.com/video/OOhL4mGDsd0/v-deo.html
Hey brother, I'm back again lol.. how do I use audio units for the first time in cubasis 3 if there not popping up on my list in the cubasis app??
Hey Uzi, if you don't see the app in your list of audio units then you'll more than likely have to use Audiobus to pipe the audio in from the app to Cubasis. We got a video on that here: ua-cam.com/video/YrzFwTefn94/v-deo.html
Hello...I’m new to Cubasis 3 and I’m just wondering why one would record audio thru AUM or Audiobus if you can Record audio or midi right into Cubasis 3? Please advise. Thanks in advanced.
AUM/Audiobus is simply a different work flow. The only reason would be to start a song first in AUM because of that preferred workflow, and then once you have something you are ready to do a final mix in you can then record those tracks into Cubasis 3.
@@MobileMusicPro I don't know about Cubasis 3 but the version 2 I have, the internal recording feature sucks big time. UB3 was a God send and it works so well.
TRIN SETTA Because Apple likes to makes things complicated.
Let's say I make a song in cubasis 3.0, do you have a video on how to render it to a wav file and then where you can send that file to? Thanks.
Sure do! Here you go ua-cam.com/video/ZXRypNeKr04/v-deo.html
Hi.. great video.. how to record external keyboard synth through audio?
Hey Paul. Just need an audio interface like a focusrite that can plug directly into ipad or you can plug both ipad and focusrite into a usb hub. The ipad is compatible with any class compliant audio interface.
@@MobileMusicPro thanks for your reply. I’ve connected Volt audio interface to iPad Pro and a usb hub. After recording, the output is very muddy. I am using 2 external keyboards via mixer
@@paulkishan You'd probably have to check connections, hooking up a volt to an iPad or a PC/MAC should be virtually identical. You can always test recording in other apps but I'm sure it's not cubasis causing any extra mud.
Hello, I would like to be able to route my tracks separately as mono 1-8 instead of stereo 1-2 3-4 etc... is it possible w Cubasis 3 iOS? I’m running a Tascam 16x8 interface with my iPad out from the tascam to an analogue mixer. Thanks for any help!
I believe Cubasis 3 only supports stereo tracks right now.
I did just pan each channel hard left and right in Cubase. Duhh ha . Eight channels mono through my mixer now 👏
@@Deadbeatradio Perfect!
So Cubasis doesn’t have an audio recorder for mic recording Like Gb has an audio recorder and I always used that but I never snapped and checked if cubasis had one. And earlier I was “trying” to record audio coming from ar909 auv cuz it wouldn’t records my pattern I made. Then I realized this whole time that I think Cubasis doesn’t support audio microphone recording. Unless if you actually can but I just don’t know how, and can’t find any videos showing how to do it
You can of course record audio from a mic into cubasis you simply have to tap the record-enable on any track that you want to record audio in. download.steinberg.net/downloads_software/Cubasis/Cubasis_3_Web_Help/TRACKS.html
I have AUM & audiobus but haven’t used audiobus to sync
anything to cubasis 3. That should save me some time. Thanks.
You're very welcome! :)
Can't get eny signal to the audio track from external drum machine, I'm using UR 22 audio devices
Hard to diagnose without seeing the setup, you can try checking out these 2 videos:

So I’ve seen ur other tutorial thing is, it’s all confusing because of all the mixers I mean I’m coming too this after I used to use GarageBand. Thing is, I have to use another app to get my sound in there?
Not understanding your question could you please rephrase with more detail?
No, you can use Cubasis standalone, but these apps are a preferred workflow to some people to create, before dropping tracks into the DAW. Cubasis has its own library of sounds as well.
Apologies I understand the question now since Barney answered it below. Thanks Barney!
So you can’t open the AUv3’s inside Cubasis like how BM3 allows you to?
You absolutely can open up AUv3s inside Cubasis, however there are some that prefer different work flows.
How do I record audio on my iPhone using cubasis while using my SM7B and SSL2+ audio interface?
No videos on this yet but both the iPad and Cubasis support any class compliant interface so once you have it hooked up you should just need to add a new audio track and tap on routing and choose your input and then hit record.
@@MobileMusicPro Okay, I hooked up everything. I added a new audio track, tapped on routing, and selected the same input that my mic is plugged up.
For some odd reason, I can't record vocals or hear myself.
@@MobileMusicPro I figured out the problem! I had to go into my iPhone’s settings and give Cubasis access to my microphone, lol. 🤦🏻♀️ Great video, by the way! 😀
@@princessl.d.g. So glad you got it going!
Hello, very informative video, but I’m running into a big problem. I wanna use audiobus with cubasis3, and I follow your tutorial step by step, but once I’ve loaded cubasis into audiobus, there’s no more sound. Also when I open cubasis, and I open the little pop up menu on the right, there’s no Play button under the app icon. Probably just a dumb thing, but I don’t know what to do... maybe you can help. Cheers!
Inside audiobus you have to make sure Cubasis is at the end of the chain (far right) and make sure you have an app loaded up (far left) to go into Cubasis. Make sure both apps are loaded by tapping on them, and then go back to audiobus and check the animation to indicate that audio is flowing through the chain, and then do a final test to make sure you have sound coming into cubasis. Also in cubasis you have to make sure the track is armed by tapping the red circle.
@@MobileMusicPro thanks for your response! i noticed that i’m only seeing that problem for certain apps, so i suppose it just doesn’t work with those. works fine when i actually use groove box.
yeah! sometimes audiobus can cause some problems that's why I'm switching to AUM.
I made a midi drum track in Garageband. Is there a way I can record that into Cubasis 3 using AUM? If so, how?
Unfortunately you can't connect Garabeband to anything including AUM or Audiobus so you'll have to export the MIDI and/or Audio files from Garageband to the Cubasis 3 folder where you'll then be able to find them inside the Cubasis 3 media bay.
@@MobileMusicPro Thank you so much! You earned a new subbie. 😊
@@princessl.d.g. Appreciate you!
Something is broken... I can't get CB3 to load in AB3 and the "Audiobus" option in CB3's Routing menu is always grayed out.
Hi.. I can record VST directly into cubasis 3
Why Audiobus is needed?
Please explain
The main reason to use audiobus today is to connect apps that are not yet AUv3 :)
Thanks… please tell me the difference between AUM and Audiobus 3
@@paulkishan AUM and Audiobus 3 are both hosts for other apps. Essentially you can think of them kind of like modular mixers. Only add what you need. Personally I use audiobus to pipe in audio to cubasis from other apps that don't yet support AUv3.
How do you sync both?
You can't really sync like you can with ableton link, you have to basically set the same bpm in audiobus or aum and cubasis and then hit the record button on cubasis inside of audiobus or aum.
Hey 👋
I need some help and maybe you can be my knight in shining armor?
I have an Android Galaxy s22ultra plus and whatever, i hav no separate headphone jack. I also have a Shure Mv88+ 🎤 and cubasis 3.
So to my problem, when i record it's all good, i can get the direct monitoring via my headset that is connected to the mic 🎤 but when Iam gonna make another track (i play flute and guitar) i cannot get any sound out, could it be that the mic f@&$ the connection to my phone? The only options are built in mic and built in earpiece for listening at the same time as Iam playing.
I do not know what to use? My laptop exploded last week and i cannot afford a new atm 🤣😂😅
Make sure the red dot is enabled when you're recording, you should just need to select the proper input in the Routing tab on any audio track. Jamie has a couple of great cubasis videos specifically for android here ua-cam.com/video/TbeDVgw_sWU/v-deo.html and here ua-cam.com/video/F1dCYM4qfbg/v-deo.html You may also want to get some kind of audio interface as well with multiple inputs so you can record a mic and a guitar at same time.
@@MobileMusicPro thank you 🙏
I have the Shure Mv88+, do i still need an physical audio interface to connect to my phone?
@@JahrationAzul You may be able to plug it directly into your phone via usb.
Hello
can you please adjust your mic level to the level of your daw output, that would be nice for the ears of your chanel visitors.
whenever you switch from mic to daw there is a huge volume difference, and that's not so pleasant for the ears.

I already done broke my I{ad from 2016! 😂🤣 Got the new M1 model now..😁✌️
Congrats mate I'm super jealous!
Excellent info. Well done. However, the difference between the level of your narration and the music you recorded was extreme. Perhaps there is a need for the mixing tutorial you mentioned. Keep up the excellent content!
Mixing audio inside Cubasis, and mixing a recorded video inside video editing software are 2 extremely different things. We're still getting the hang of the video editing software, we do a better job in the newer videos.
is there a way to make cubasis record at 24/96? I have the ipad pro 4th gen
Yes Cubasis does support 24/96 if you have an interface capable of handling 24/96.
@@MobileMusicPro what I meant was internally. With all the power the newer ipads have, even 24/192 should be possible internally that is.
@@swifty1969 I have the 2018 iPad pro and it's 24/48 by default with no interface. Not sure what the newer iPads are capable of internally but they can for sure all handle 24/192 with a proper interface.
@@MobileMusicPro I don't get Apple. Why can't we record internally at the highest resolution? Instead, we're locked at 24/48. Apple removes the headphone jack but won't include low letancy Aptx HD and Ldac protocols for Bluetooth.
@@swifty1969 I mean you're not locked into 24/48 if you get an interface, apple did create the IAA and AUv3 formats so they do care about musicians. Some of their decisions remain puzzling though. But still apple devices remain the only portable devices to be able to properly handle real time audio processing with low latency.
I can get audio in AUM and audio bus, using my XR18 as an interface, but cannot get Cubasis 3 to recognize it. All I get is a distorted audio signal.
Boy that's a tough one. Audio interfaces are automatically recognized by Cubasis and there's some settings in the "Setup" menu like input gain and such. The only thing I can recommend here is trying to restart cubasis or restart the ipad as it's supposed to be plug and play.
@@MobileMusicPro I am now trying to use my Zoom H5 as an interface, and having the same problem. It’s like I can midi my keyboard in, and it recognizes that instantly, but the audio signal is distorted like talking through a tin can. Is it possible that Cubasis is picking up the IPad mic. If so how can I cut it off? I already know about arming the Chanel, and routing. Mono, stereo, inter app, and Audiobus, but I thinking there might be something else I am missing.
@@MaJelArt Hmm if it detects an interface it should no longer be using the default ipad mac automatically. And you can adjust the input gain of the mic that cubasis is currently using in the "setup" menu. I've never heard of cubasis going static like this as it's compatible with any class compliant interface and i've seen it used on a pretty large variety at this point. You may have to post the question in the cubasis forum here: forums.steinberg.net/tags/c/cubasis/7/cubasis-3
This isn't a cpu issue right? Like you're cpu is not maxed out while you're trying to listen to your track?
I noticed how my DSP would shoot up to 100% at times. How can I stop that?
The best thing you can do is to freeze your tracks. We have an article and video on the subject here mobilemusicpro.com/blogs/news/plugin-usage-explained-cpu-ram-dsp
@@MobileMusicPro Thank you. 🙂
Does Cubasis connect via Live link with Audiobus or do you have to manually set the BPM and start/stop recording?
You have to manually set BPM in both Cubasis and Audiobus/AUM because Cubasis doesn't yet support ableton link.
Audiobus starts at 10:37
I don't know why for the fucking life of me in doing exactly what you are doing and either the tempo is out of since, start points don't match or I get absolutely zero sound coming from any of my apps. I connected everything exactly as you did. I even used the same freaking apps to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the helpful videos.
Hmm, hard to help if you say you're doing everything the same, perhaps you could record a video and I could take a better look at what you're doing.
I am having a problem with this app when it comes to rendering my project files to get mastered
Once I get the file down to the wave format for mastering and listen back to it before I send it to the mastering program it has beat of the song out of sequence can any one help me with this please its pissing me off to have to go through this I have to just use cubasis 2 until I can get the situation fix..this sucks
Have you tried freezing the tracks that seem to be out of sync before mixing down the song?
@@MobileMusicPro no never did try that
Let me try it and let you know how it turn out
Thanks for the tip
@@MobileMusicPro I did the freeze on the tracks and it didn't help and ita always with my bass tracks..is it a bug in the program because I sent the project straight from my cubasis 2 to cubasis 3 so I am wondering if that has something to do with it .
@@linkylion9060 The upgrade should not affect the project. Would very much appreciate a screen capture video or even a video taken with your phone demonstrating this issue so we can send it to steinberg. It's quite easy to share video with sites like dropbox. Not sure what you would do to keep those bass tracks from messing up except to either freeze them, or do a mixdown with only the bass tracks unmuted which is effectively kind of like freezing them, and then bring those mixed down audio files back into the project.
@@MobileMusicPro ok I can send you a video via email if you would like so you can hear and see what I am talking about

Erm, what’s wrong with on board mic.
That works well too plus apple improves the mic with every new iPhone and iPad!
I just bought Cubasis 3 like 10 minutes ago and then this video popped up in recommended feed.. weird dude.
Hey man that's how it works! Synchronicity is real ;) We're not even through our first year yet so lots more to come!
These tutorials need to be a lot more thorough.
Appreciate the feedback. The tutorial videos are kept short for convenience and mass consumption whereas the courses will dive much more into detail with longer form videos.
I'd say we're more like mobile Warriors
I like that too!
Audiobus 3 sucks, trying to get it to work with sampletank and cubasis 3,no record button displayed in audiobus 3,ipad sucks for music creation, too many complications.Mobile daws have a long way to go to reach the ease of desktop daws, find myself stuffing around with routing in mobile daws and getting confused about which is audio or midi when it is much easier on a desktop, and the audio seems to randomly display on mobile,I don”t get it at all, just using Garageband atm,Cubase is too hard to set up ,so is audiobus and so is trying to get sampletank working as well,it’s dead easy on a desktop daw.
You might be experiencing iOS 14 bugs, sample tank unfortunately hasn't been well kept up and is inter app/audiobus only. I think what can clean up your workflow is removing audiobus and just sticking inside the DAW and using AUv3 apps which are just like VSTs on the desktop. I can recommend an AUv3 sampletank alternative which is bs-16i apps.apple.com/us/app/bismark-bs-16i/id388149926. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you clean up your workflow as you seem quite confused at the moment.
