Just like Led Zep, my favorite album from them changes all the time. I’m jamming and really appreciating Volume 4, but then months later Master of Reality is my favorite. So many top notch albums you just let them play through because every song is bad ass.

He did lead on the Therapy? cover of Iron Man, on the Nativity In Black cover album. I think he did backups on 2 more songs one on Nativity In Black II, N.I.B. - Primus, and Iron Man - Busta Rhymes.

@@NeolithGreyand Tony used massive amounts of fuzz box on his guitar. As a singer I can tell you that no amount of effect makes you a better singer it just enhances your natural ability. And this was in the age before auto-tune and pitch correct so you had to be able to sing.

As for Iommi, I wasn't ignoring him, I started down-tuning because of Sabbath and Type O Negative. I've been playing 29 years and only the first 8 months were in E Standard!

That element of soul and funk was what was completely lost on all metal bands in the 80s. That's why they never sounded like Deep Purple or Zep. OK, just listened to them - eww, they suck.

When you start getting to the genre of doom metal, then you'll almost immediately understand exactly where doom metal came from... Even though it wasn't even a thing in the seventies, even though Black Sabbath would have never called themselves that. To themselves they were just a heavy rock band... they either created or influenced every genre within heavy metal.
true story: I got this album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath when I was 11 years old, in 1979, because I stole it out of this car that a guy was working on in his front yard. It might have been a Mustang, maybe it was a Camaro or a Z28, I can't exactly remember...but I listened to that cassette for years. great frkn album
My first Sabbath album. It may be hard for these young reactors to realise how big and influential Black Sabbath were in the 70s. Love this album and song, love how it kicks up a gear in the last part when the heavy rigging starts up.

This is a great song. Ozzy's voice was really interesting on this record, and even more so on Sabotage. He was really pushing his range and his emotional investment on these two LPs. In my opinion he was maturing, or maybe he was pushing back at the lifestyle a bit. But they are my favorite versions of Ozzy's vocals by far.
He should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame as a solo artist as well, his playlist I have still, just of his hits and classic solo songs, is over 4 hours long. Ozzy is forever! 🎸

I'm 36 now but when I first began playing guitar at 15 Black Sabbath was one of the first I just listened to and I remember the day I heard this song and I was like "oh man that riff in the middle of the song that comes after the solo is HEAVY AS HELL" I played this song out. ELECTRIC FUNERAL too by them is another I played out. It's hard to believe I've been playing 21 years man time flyyyyyys. LOVED YALLS REACTION. Ozzys voice is great IMO but I get why some people get put off of it , you just gotta keep listening to him and you're like ya know.. Ozzy really can sing.

Well I can think of a few bands before that really changed music forever while also influencing both the bands you mentioned.
"A National Acrobat" & "Spiral Architect" are both fantastic tracks from this album. "Killing Yourself To Live" is a great track as well.
