5:49 Thomas, great review of the Q4 e-tron SUV and Sportback. I thought you said that you prefer a RWD to the quattro? No frunk means no added weight ahead of the front axle, which gives the rewarding RWD handling vehicle. No frunk means short overhangs. 17:50 Q4 e-tron SUV smaller turning diameter of 33.5 ft (10.2 m) vs MY 39.8 ft (12.1 m) vs Mach-E 38.1 ft (11.8 m) and shorter front and rear overhang vs the other two. 25:00 No one-pedal driving, TY. I like to put the brakes and my right or left foot to work or using the paddle shifters for the regen.
14:55 Dear car manufacturers: Please stop putting the cup holders in the middle of the arm rest. It's annoying and defeats its purpose. Excellent review as always!
@@burnx45 I remember my Dad's old VW Passat had this. You can see it here: assets.suredone.com/1517/media-photos/cp034140-rear-seat-arm-rest-ski-pass-cup-holder-console-06-10-vw-passat-b6-black-leather-3.jpg They come out like a drawer if you press at the front of the armrest. Unfortunately, the new Passat doesn't have it anymore but also like the Audi in the middle. I think it's just way cheaper. Also, the Passat hat a dedicated space behind the cupholder inside the armrest where you could put stuff in.
Get rid of capacitive controls, change the piano black to textured carbon fiber, improve the materials on the door surfaces and this would be a definite buy for me.
Ha! I don't know if it was intentional, but when Thomas talked about Audi going to animal free upholstery he said 'Mooooving' . The cows are happy for using their language.
I've followed Autogefuhl for years and should be used to Thomas always being first to review new cars by now, but still... Wow! Thanks for making isolation easier! 🙇🏻
I watched a few of your videos now. I think you make quite great reviews and you have a good style of presentation. you also drive to the speed limit, which is appreciated and gives you credibility. if you have a cameraman on your side, perhaps both of you could discuss different points of view (if he wants to, of course). I hope this channel continues to grow and not turn into many on youtube which are clickbaits now. all the best.
I just drove the Q4 AWD. It's built like a vault, and has a comfortable and quiet ride, but slower than the competition. You nailed the feeling, Thomas. What concerns me is that charging speed and range is somewhat less than lower priced competitors. The seat was supremely comfortable and there was plenty of headroom in the rear. Sadly, there is no federal tax credit available any more for the Q4. I'm leaning towards the Lyriq, with more luxury and less sport, and with better range from its 100 kW battery and faster charging. I do prefer the interior of the Lyriq, and the Supercruise option is compelling. The Caddy should come with about $4,000-7,000 in federal tax credits, putting the price on parity with the Audi. I also prefer the exterior styling of the Lyriq. PLEASE GET YOUR HANDS ON ONE FOR REVIEW EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA TO DRIVE ONE! I will put you up here in St. Augustine for free!
I will buy a Q4 equivalent SUV S-Line with 100 kWh / 750km in 3 years or so ! I drive today a 2016 Q7 S-line, the best car I have ever owned. I am soooo happy to see VW group moving electric and building so beautiful cars...
SUV for me. I’m fighting between the RWD vs AWD; I need to see if the acceleration in the RWD is acceptable for my daily driving. I just canceled my ID.4 AWD Pro S. Still need to know how much range penalty you get from AWD configuration.
Very Good video! I especially appreciate the fact that you recommend the rear wheel drive version over the all wheel drive. Sometimes people forget that emobility is about efficiency and range.
I cancelled my reservation due to the range. Will have around 200km range in winter @100% battery charge, and on top of that, it has a really slow charge rate at 125 when other manufacturers are already doing 350 charging. 1st gen electric cars arent gas car replacements yet, not in the real world, not in cold weather countries. Hopefully in the next 3-5 years they’ll get there. I’m looking at buying a hybrid now that i learned more about battery range in winter.
I was disappointed as well with many aspects. Realistic range and charging speed make it a non starter for my driving needs. I’m now in a long queue for an Ioniq 5.
Absolutely brilliant, better than the uk presenters! First class.. enjoyed watching it.. 👌👏 Ps you’re English is perfect too! Thanks for the uk version! Vorsprung ordered!!👊
Thanks for the review Thomas. For £50k here in the UK for the 40 e-tron I would expect better quality. No gas strut for the hood? Smaller virtual cockpit? Audi seem to skimp on quality at this ‘lower’ end of their cars atm.
I like the Sportback look. The range looks good, I think VW has a really good lineup for electric. I like the interior way more than the Tesla. Of course I have an Audi A4 with the virtual cockpit right now, so it looks very familiar to me. Oh I do like the controls for the climate. Heads up display looks great. I had one in a BMW a few years ago that I really miss. Great review. I think for the price point right now I would go for the ID4. Maybe wait until next gen of this model, or pick one of these up used in 3 years.
Great review. I've just ordered my AUDI Q4 (40) e-tron as the BIK saving as a company car driver is huge! I currently have an Outlander PHEV and even going for a car that is more than £10k more expensive I'm saving almost £70 a MONTH in tax! Gone for the Navara Blue and I have added everything (except the Matrix headlights - couldn't justify £20 a month for a light signature I'll never see). Really excited to try out the SONOS sounds system, AI & smooth drive. Was a bit nervous about going all-electric for the first time but actually when you look into it, there are a lot of fast charging stations and this will only improve (hopefully fast than the increase in other drivers on the road though!). I have a charging station at home (11 hours full charge I've heard) and the 300 miles (Yes real will be less) should get me to the office on a full charge (200 miles) so I can plug it back in. I also opted for the retractable tow bar as I will be attempting camping (plus roof box) with this car. Might do a video to demonstrate the range as I will be carrying/pulling a fair bit :o
Always a fan of your detailed reviews Thomas. The details you capture are second to none. Can you shed some light on the differences between 45 vs 50 etron. It looks to me, the mechanics including electric motor specifications are the same. The difference seems to be in software, which gives the boost function (25kw more output) in 50 etron when battery charge is > 88%. Do you agree with that or are there some other differences apart from visual (base vs advanced line)
Glossy black where you hands will touch every day.. makes no sense to me, poorly thought out. The flat electric shifter with touch MMI knob was the best and ergonomic implementation.
I have always been told rear wheel drive is bad for snow. I live in Denver, Colorado where in the metro area, we don’t get a ‘ton’ of snow during the winter, probably 2-3 times where it’s +8” of snow. But usually melts from the roads within a day. So my question, in terms of dealing with heavy slush, and fresh snow (say it starts snowing during the commute), how will rear wheel do? I have a 100 mile round trip per day drive to work and back and looking for an electric vehicle that can support that range (which this does) but curious if the rear wheel drive is bad belief is true or with modern stability features it’s just an old mode of thinking. Thanks for the video. Last question. Do you think Audi will do the same thing for 2022 with the Q5? Or is that just the basic E-Tron?
This is my absolute dream car. I’ve waited since day 1 of the concept for this. Sadly I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford it. Hopefully I win the lotto so I can live my dream
buy the book ask and it is given by esther hicks. search and listen to Abraham Hicks on youtube. You can have all you want, for you are the creator of your experience; but if you say you won't be able to afford it, then as the creator , you won't.
I don't know your budget for transport but in most Western European countries, it will be affordable for full time workers because of good resell value, low tax and low fuel costs.
@@MMM18092 I live in Australia and this car will start at around $80 000 and go up to about $100 000 That’s a guess but the current Q5 starts around there, and the full sized etron starts at around $140 000. I imagine they’ll want this somewhere around Q5, if not between Q5 and full sized etron. $80k-$100k is a lot where I come from. $500+ per week in repayments/lease payments.
@@bneyarb5037 500 AUD per week sounds a lot. I lease an E-tron and it costs me 1,000 AUD per month including service and insurance. Given the tax on ICE vehicles and diesel/petrol in my country, that makes the E-tron just a little bit more expensive to drive than a boring diesel SUV.
We used to carry our labrador in trunk of Tiguan. After we changed to C-HR dog has travelled in back seat. Travelling In back seat is better (more involving) for dog and so we don’t need SUV back anymore and prefer sportback more. I would go with sportback
i think i'd go SUV as i love having a rear wiper... but Sportback is appealing due to being a little more slippery and thus more highway range... tough choice!
As usual a superb video! Love the SUV version. Colour and everything perfect. If I had known this one was coming when I bought my BEV.... On the other hand I think we are going to say that for many years ahead the way new models are introduced...
I wonder if this is any quieter than the id4. I love how quiet the etron is, but that’s out of my budget, so I’m hoping this Q4 will be just as quiet as the etron.
Great looking Cars Thomas , Coupe for me though sir , I As for the weather , You had some torrential rain on the test drive but i think it's just a matter of time before the sensors on the cars can cope with that without going crazy 🤣👍👍
I don't understand "coupe" SUVs. If an SUV is supposed to be about "utility," giving it a more sedan shape means it just has a beefy bottom and less utility. A beefy bottom doesn't make for better aerodynamics. I don't understand why this all-electric car is so bulky and big in the front. Why not go lower? I'm disappointed that Audi didn't use a more electric design to make the vehicles more aerodynamic and lower. I'm not a fan of high riding, high-beltline vehicles or raised vehicles so these aren't for me. I hope Audi brings something more efficient into the electric world that isn't superperformance and very high priced.
As always a great review by the best in the business. BUT as always the one thing I am missing, is a more in depth review of the sound system. Could this maybe be a focus in the future? More than 5 seconds please :)
Thx for the review Thomas, nicely done as Always!!! -- My shorlist keeps getting bigger for my new car ... at the moment : - Mercedes C plug in (new model) (any chance U can do a real review one of these weeks? - Mustang Mach E - Skoda Enayq iv - Audi Q4 etron sportback -- btw the infotainment seems A LOT better then id4 and enyaq? -- different hardware to your opinion? Difficult choices :p
Regarding the regen comments, as long as we have manual paddles on the steering wheel, it's no issue. Similar to having paddle shifters on an ICE car, you can easily control what you need depending on the situation.

Great review, Sportback for me! Thanks
4:29 ...and people still say Germans don't have a sense of humour???
I like the styling of the Sportback best; very good looking car. Pricing would mean the 200hp rwd.
SUV over the Sportback...always.
Bravo Thomas ! Thank you ! So quick I didn’t had time to wish for this review but I plan to get this car so I’m so happy !!!
Great video Thomas! Very nice car
SUV AWD all day. Thanks for the review.
Great review. Too bad it wasn't an S-Line as the interior in that looks so much better, especially the quilted seats.
cheers!
Beautiful suv,, it's right up there with the bmw x6 and Mercedes gle 53 coupe,, Germany makes the best suv's in the world...
God i hope audi makes a Q4 e-tron styled Q3 e-tron. The Q4 is just a bit too big imo
they will do, but it will take very long unfortunately.
have a look at the Cupra Born ( almost same size as the ID. 3 )
how is the suspension on this one compared to the bmw ix3?
Nice videos...keep it up sir👍👍
As always a great review by the best in the business. BUT as always the one thing I am missing, is a more in depth review of the sound system. Could this maybe be a focus in the future? More than 5 seconds please :)
Thx for the review Thomas, nicely done as Always!!! -- My shorlist keeps getting bigger for my new car ... at the moment :
- Mercedes C plug in (new model) (any chance U can do a real review one of these weeks?
- Mustang Mach E
- Skoda Enayq iv
- Audi Q4 etron sportback -- btw the infotainment seems A LOT better then id4 and enyaq? -- different hardware to your opinion?
Difficult choices :p
Great video quality! You got a new subscriber :)
You should do review of the RIMAC NEVERA,
Croatian made the fastest electric car in the world !!
Regarding the regen comments, as long as we have manual paddles on the steering wheel, it's no issue. Similar to having paddle shifters on an ICE car, you can easily control what you need depending on the situation.
