Thanks for the good review, Thomas. 14:24 Handling over the frunk anytime. No, frunk means no added nose-heavy weight ahead of the front axle that gives FWD handling characteristics. Taycan doesn't have a frunk, either does it?
Me too and also tried the Ionic 5. Q4 the clear winner on the MEB platform but against the Ionic 5 it was very close. In fact if the Ionic 5 had a more squared off and deeper boot I might have changed my mind! For me as a company car driver the Q4 is also cheaper to lease than the ID4 or Enyaq so made the most sense.
Tesla Model Y/3, Hyundai Ioniq and Kia EV6 are eating these cars for breakfast. Way better tech, better reliability, better price! You only buy german if you think the badge on front of the car is important.
@@redwhite_040 you only buy tesla if you wanna have a sh*t car that its broken from the start, and hyundai and kia i never see an old one driving, specially i know hyundai from 2005 broke a lot but from the 5 years of use
Thomas, I live in an area that has winter road conditions, including snow. Would you please drive some of these AWD EV’s in the snow to compare there abilities to their ICE AWD competitors. Are they any good, it’s important to a large segment of the buyers.
I've did a test drive in - Audi Q4 - Mustang Mach E - VW ID5 - KIA EV6 - Renault Megane E Tech - Tesla model 3 If you put all the cars next to each other on paper, the KIA and Tesla wins. You get more value and car out of your money. The Mach E was surprisingly the most fun to drive, because of that engine sound feature. The ID5 was OK, but I didnt like the dashboard (if you can call it a dashboard) and the armrest feels and looks like you have those in cheap flights. Personally to me, the Audi Q4 won. Everything was just 'correct'. The dashboard, the exterior, the emotion when driving. I know it's quite expensive compared to the other ones, except the Tesla and Mach E, but yeah it comes to personal preference.
The reason this channel doesn't have more subscribers is probably because people think this is a German review channel. They don't know it's in English. Otherwise this channel is awesome. I absolutely love the content.
VW need to rip out that infotainment system and start again completely. Also get rid of the capacitive buttons and they could have a compelling car but as it is it'll make people pay extra for Tesla, either that or be left very disappointed. I can't have a car in this day and age with a laggy unresponsive screen, and buying a new car in 2021, no one should.
Totally agree. I tried all 3 MEB platform cars - really disliked the ID4 controls and interior. The Enyaq was better but still disliked the infotainment. Went for the Q4 in the end as just felt a better car all round and is actually cheaper for me on my company scheme.
As an OLD in numbers Brit, I really appreciate the way you use inches and mm. I am just waiting to collect my new Q4, it is somewhere in the country, so have watched every UA-cam video, this was excellent. Many thanks.
In the USA, there's a ~$10,000 price premium for an equivalent package AWD Q4 vs. the AWD ID.4. From a practicality perspective, the ID.4 is the clear winner. From an overall design and enthusiast's perspective, the Q4 wins. So, you'd have to ask yourself which you'd rather have based on those metrics. Having said that, while I prefer the more conventional controls in the Audi, I strongly feel that after a few days, you'd become very used to the controls in the VW...
I feel like if you’re going to have 80% of the interaction of your car being haptic and on a screen, it better be as dam fast my iPhone. So with that being said, I personally would spend the extra $10k for the Audi just to not deal with the Volkswagen horrible infotainment. That’s just my opinion tho 👨🏽🦯
A fabulously detailed and very informative comparison, Thomas - super review, fella...! For me, the Audi wins this comparison hands-down, for the interior design and improved quality over the cost-cutting iD.4, plus the more svelte exterior styling. 😎
My takeaway from the video was a bit opposite if yours: the Q4 seems to be the one with the more obvious cost-cutting. VW is not a luxury brand and the ID4 is not a luxury car; here in the US a loaded Q4 is also about $8,000 more than the loaded ID4 - pretty significant for getting not much more than a quieter ride (TBD whether the suspension is even better for me, here in the US we will only get the sport suspension on the Q4, so no dampers or adaptive suspension). I have been in many VW's and they almost always seem to have some weird noise coming in and lots of road noise, that's not a surprise. However, I have never seen so much hard plastic and piano black in any other Audi in my life, and Thomas indicated the ID4 has the more comfortable seats. With performance being the same, and for me the software doesn't matter all that much because I'd be using CarPlay for every non-operational feature... I just think Audi needed to do a bit more (ideally, an interior that actually resembles an Audi). For me I might get neither of these, the VW being a bit too trendy looking and the Audi cutting too many corners.
@@5DollarHoller That is indeed a big price difference. But one thing to consider, even if you use carplay, in the ID.4 many features of the car are controlled by the buggy/lagging software. So you will get exposed to it more than on the older VW cars. For me ergonomics is really important because it can cause a lot of stress while driving.
@@DavidNouls I've tried the infotainment, climate controls etc. on both the Audi and the ID 4. For me, the ID 4 feels a lot better in those aspects. For the ID 4, even though it lacks a physically controlled climate control, the big screen up front with its big, square icons, plus the ability to create shortcuts makes it very easy to control. On the Audi's screen, the icons are more like 50% text, 50% icon and 0% high contrast background. Opposed to several reviews I've read or seen, the infotainment on the ID 4 was very smooth the few times I've tried it. The interactions shown with the ID 4's infotainment system in this video are nothing like what I've experienced myself.
Great review as always. I’ve got an GTX on order. They’ve changed the spec a fair bit, can no longer get the GTX Max and instead have a lot of the optional extras in the standard GTX now (eg heads up display) and have got a heat pump. Also that blue dashboard (which is horrible) isn’t an option anymore, you can only get black which is great news. Can’t wait to get it! Audi is lovely though.
Thomas, thank you for such a detailed comparison. For the noise difference, it must be in part due to the dual laminated acoustic door glass in the Audi's front doors. I just got a Q4 50 and compared it at low speeds to my friend's new ID.4 ProS AWD (GTX). The steering in the VW and the car itself seemed a bit lighter and playful, Audi drove as...an Audi, seemed a bit more solid and stable. As far as materials, features and pricing here in the US go, I'd highlight that ID.4 now gets up to $7500 federal tax credit and additional State-based incentives ($2,000 rebate in NJ) that Audi doesn't qualify for. VW also provides unlimited 3y. DC charging at ElectrifyAmerica, while Audi - just the [lame] first 250 kW. Features: VW includes auto-park assist ('22 Audi doesn't) , wireless charging pad (also missing in the' 22 Audi), front massage seats and passenger seat memory (not even available in Audi). Audi's standard leather seats seemed better, but I wish they were ventilated. The door tops and esp. door inserts and the dashboard would definitely benefit from soft and seat - like color and texture, as in VW. I do agree that even after the last 3.1 VW software update Audi's virtual cockpit and its overall software is better. Given how easy it is to accidentally move driver's view elements by just sliding your hand over capacitive touch buttons, I'd also say that the real buttons and scroll wheels were also better.
Tried the Enyaq, ID4 and Q4. For me the Q4 is actually cheaper on my company scheme and I liked it better than the Enyaq - I prefer the interior and controls. The Enyaq does have the most boot space but ultimately the Q4 was cheaper (for me) so I ordered one.
@@ISuperTed Hope you will enjoy the Audi. Its a great car. In Israel if you spec the Audi to equal the Enyaq in terms of interior design, the Audi costs way way more than the Skoda. Wish they'd sell the Audi with the Skoda's spec and price. 🙃
I used to have an Audi A4, loved the interior. Now I have an ID.4, its not nearly as nice. You nailed the usability issues with the ID.4. I wish I had waited for the e-tron. The price difference isn’t THAT much, and you are getting way more premium for what you pay for it.
@@autogefuehl, that’s the one I’m getting in a couple of days. Maybe I’ll go with the RWD. But Pro S trim for sure (ventilated seats). Cheers from west coast of Canada.
Audi infotaiment is so lame... It is back to A4 A5 A6 series. No OTA upgrades, no shop still. So limited. Also Audi is always removing options vs adding sth new. Never ever Audi again.
Nice comparison - I have an ID4 Gradient reserved but am still waiting to test drive the Q4 e-tron 50 in Colorado. Your observations are what I’m expecting to experience myself.
It's one thing for your Tesla to consume 205 kWh for 1000km l, and another is ID4 320 kWh for 1000km. One is 2.3 tons for ID4, the other is 1.8 tons for Model 3. Unfortunately at the moment, who refuses Tesla Model 3 / Y = refuses to drive on the highway without stress.
There are Tesla's with NMC and Tesla with LFP, the price of the 2 disappointments in the clip makes them compete with Tesla NMC LR Model Y and it has no weight problems, neither charging problems in the cold.
We are a VW/Audi family. My husband still drives his Audi ice, we have a van again which is his toy and we still have our Eurovan which we always took on road trips and camping. The 3 kids are now 20-30 yo. I myself was driving an Audi before I purchased my ID4 in August this year. I love my ID4, no regrets. While Audi will always look more prestigious to me over VW, the $20k difference is just a bit much. I will enjoy my ID4 for now and maybe my EV will be an etron but very very close is a Volvo. We shall seem. My youngest who is 20, is too lazy to get a license and drive has my old 2012 Audi waiting for her. Hopefully soon.
ID.4 for the exterior. Q4 for the interior…but haptic controls and shiny black plastic have to GO! Also, the iPad look in the BW needs to go too. Just looks so much better built into the dash like the Audi.
I'm intrigued - about midway thru you mention the Mach-E as a competitor, but then leave it off at the end of the video. Well? And if it is, which handles better to you, the Mach-E or the Audi? Or the Tesla? Mach-E GTPE, well in Europe i think it's just the GT.
I test-drove them all and ordered a Q4. For me (in UK) I am ordering as a company car driver and the Q4 is actually cheaper to lease than an ID4 or Enyaq, so list price doesn’t matter. I would say the Q4 felt a nicer car to drive than the others, more refined and quieter and the infotainment (while not perfect) is way better than the other 2 to use. I don’t really like the steering wheel buttons but that’s a small thing - in the ID4 especially the software was terrible and really put me off buying one. The only other car I considered was the Ionic 5 which I test drove and really liked. However it’s boot was just not practical for me (too shallow).
As always you do fantastic videos!! Why Volkswagen won't import id6 or Q5 etron from China? These two cars (with the Enyaq) are great cars but for people with family they are not big enough...
Putting the shift forward to drive forward and backwards to drive backwards is obviously far more logical and natural. In fact, why did CVT's ever get this thing the other way around in the first place? I know you must adapt when you're used to this and then step into an ID.x, but let's say automatic transmission was invented today - what would you have chosen? The ID does this the right way and I hope it becomes standard.
Drive shoud be behind reverse in my opinion. Same with + and - semi auto shifting. + backwards and - forwards. My Transporter has it the opposite, + is forward and - is backwards. It's counter intuitive because when you accelerate it's more natural to pull the shifter towards you, and forward when braking.
I was very much interested in buying an Audi Q 4 50, but as I cannot get the full incentives in my country I ordered a BMW i 4 drive 40 where the premium is Euro 5000 more. The reason why you get less incentives on an ID 4 GTX or Audi Q4 50 is the higher consumption above 18 KW/ h ( WLTP )-
Will I pick the ID.4, maybe? I would definitely agree that the Audi appears to be the overall better package, but the issue I have is that the overall design appearance of the ID.4 is much more refreshing. Audi really has not taken a new direction. It looks quite boring.
Looks isnt what makes the car good or bad tho in reality. The id4's interior design and tech is quite terrible. Q4 offers a bit more relaxing and fun drive. Not really seeing many facts that prefer id4 in this battle other than the price and looks.
In Slovakia, Audi Q4 costs from 60-70k EURO for Q4 35 and Q4 40 respectively with some mid-spec trim. That's the actual price since our government does not offer any kind of incentives. It's still much cheaper to own a Diesel car in Slovakia. Q4 50 I didn't check as 40 is already ridiculous in terms of costs. It's a small SUV that does not feel very premium at all. ID.4 with similar performance/specs as Q4 40 costs 50k. That's a 10-20k Euro difference. I didn't have a chance to drive either of them. But I did check them out side by side in the showroom. I liked the Audi maybe 5% better, but there is no way that justifies the up to 20k Euro difference. I wonder in which country there is a 5k difference between the two.
These cars will depreciate very quickly, they only sell cars in my country because of business lease. So that means companies lease these cars for 4 years and then dump them again so they have a "green" image. If you buy these cars you can better wait a couple of years for better technology and Hyundai/Tesla have far better technology anyway.
@@redwhite_040 nope... i can sell my id4 1st edition for the price i bought it. i have 10k km on the clock too. vw cant make them fast enough. 8month waiting list. i spend perhaps 5euros charging my car a week. go figure
Yeah, gotta be Q4 of those 2! But what about Skoda? And - probably next year now - Ford’s new Explorer? I’m looking forward to the latter full tests and reviews.
Nice review/comparison with good insite and detail. I have a Pro S ID.4 2WD for 8 months and 10K miles now. I love it. Was a field tech with MB so I am quite in tune with designs etc. Regarding the higher road noise in the ID.4. With certain packages, the Q4 comes with acoustic side windows. This can make a big difference in the db levels in the car at highways speeds. Also, regarding the cluster in the ID.4, when in navigation mode there is a display providing guidance arrows in the right side of the display. I like the simplicity of the ID.4 cluster and that it moves up and down with the steering wheel position. Also, I recommend you check out the ID Light across the base of the windshield. It's truly cool and has multiple functions. Collision warning (in red), Navi guidance with strobing light for turns (in blue), wavy feedback for charging (in green) and side window not fully closed when exiting (in amber). With that said, capacitive touch for temp and volume not ideal mostly because they are not backlit however the steering control for volume is ok. I will never get used to the two window switches for 4 windows however! Update for the U.I. has improved performance for me. I am now talking with the Audi dealer to see what the price difference will be for a Q4. it looks like at least $10K but includes several features not available on the ID.4. I think VW was really serious about developing this platform as "World" car. it drives incredibly well. I really like the side mirror position, shape and size and integrated blind spot lighting position. The mirrors on the Mach-E were not ideal for me at all.
Skoda Enyaq is much better combination of interior and exterior design than the ID.4 and much cheaper than the Q4 e-tron. Had it for a couple of days and was very pleased.
I like the exterior if the ID.4 better than the Enyaq, which has the nicer interior. A combination of both would be my preferred choice. The Audi doesn’t appeal to me. Let’s see what Cupra will put out in this segment.
I'm glad the ID4 goes forward by pushing the top forward and backward to go in reverse. It's more logical for me & I used to do it wrong in my old Prius all the time. I agree with you that you can't see the temperature buttons at night. I also do not like the rear button for the rear windows. I used to have an A3 Diesel & love the quality of the Audi, but got an ID4. I'll take a look at the Audi again when I'm ready for my next vehicle.
You´re right there with the shifter knob only as compared to an automatic fossil car. But the first mentionend is logic to me, as you turn it forward, then it moves forward.
Cold climate is an important used case... so please show us how the heatpump works in all different cars if they lac one and how recharge works when EV have lost charge
These two would definitely be on the radar for my next car HOWEVER with limited storage and most important limited range My mind is still in the Telsa ring......
Audi always design great looking cars but the ID4 is a really nice, clean design. What I like about the VW is that it is understated. With the upgraded taillights, the car looks premium. Cars are getting very expensive so the Q4 is probably a bit of a stretch for most people in the highest trim.
I’d take the Audi if I was choosing between the two, the ID4 to me is a little too revolutionary, that red and blue interior was not a good look (obviously only a spec choice). Great review 👍🏼
I would have thrown in the ix3 in the comparison at the end. It’s a clear contender in the posh electric SUV segment. And for me the one that strikes best balance in terms of quality, road agility and packaging with a huge square boot space
A bit confused over your complaints about the autobahn noise level in the ID4: A while ago you did a similar test in a Tesla Model Y and said that "the noise insulation is quite good" - compared to what, a dust-bin?
It would be nice to see decibel meter results at specific speeds. Mind you Tesla reached 210km/h and it has a glass roof whereas the VW and Audi reach 185km/h and the Audi doesn't have a panoramic roof.
In german Car Press (Auto Motor und Sport) they always measure at different speeds. The ID 4 had 68db at 130km/h and the Model 3 73db (don't know if they have tested Model Y already). 5 db is a LOT...3db is already doubling the noise indensity. The Q4 is even less noisy...
Thomas good day as always great presentation. My impression Audi is very expensive for what it offer, VW maybe if they fix the quality of interior. Thanks again for your time
I own a big e-tron and my wife got Q4 50 a few months ago. While I like Q4 too, there are some "bad" things about it: - MMI - users are not implemented (yet?) so anything about that is a mess. myAudi app is really a poorly executed project for years now. Big thumbs down for this. - power - when battery is depleting you slowly also get less power. That's not the case with big e-tron. No idea why they decided to take away power parallel to battery depletion. - Charging - having ftrunk in big etron and position of the charging outlet are way more practical in Etron. Imaging having a full trunk and you want to pull out the charging cable from the trunk? - Due to chip shortage 360 camera was not available in a car worth 80.000 eur?? Only rear view. :( - capacitive touch on steering wheel is bad, not practical due to poor feedback and finding buttons - DCC suspension - don't buy that. Car is hard even in COMFORT setting. No way near proper air suspension of big E-tron. - the dashboard could be a bit "shorter" and higher positioned. Now the tall guys have to lower the seat to the bottom and back in order to avoid hitting knees at dashboard on a passenger seat. - Audi customer service (not from the dealer, from the HQ I mean) is none. They don't care about customer complaints at all. For such premium brand that's very disappointing. Despite all that: the car is powerful, fun to drive, looks beautiful. We still love it but Audi could and should do better.
Thomas it would be nice to list the base price of the models and the price of the models you test. In Greece the fastest q4 etron quattro at basic configuration comes at 89.000 euro. The 4x4 id4 with the most powerful engine which is slower than model y costs 54.000 euros in the basic configuration, the Skoda enyaq costs 50.000 in basic fastest edition. The Tesla model y starts at 61.000 euro. Take a quess how many q4 and id4 will be sold and how many model y will be sold. And in a few years the Chinese are coming. Super expensive German cars must adapt or die.
You are exactly right. The performance (both in term of efficiency and speed) to price ratio is embarrassing compared to Tesla’s. I can’t come up with a reason why one would chose one of these over a Tesla, and mind you I’m not even a fanboy. A few years ago maybe I could make a case for the German’s better materials, but it looks like it’s not true anymore since the interior is made of cheap plastic. Maybe a few details are better than the competition, but to me they still do not justify the much higher price.
You might be right. Also, the warranty is a problem. In Slovakia, the warranty for German cars is probably the most miserable one you can get. Although many of them are manufactured here. The cheapest Q4 35 that I've found locally comes for 60k, the least powerful engine, lowest trim. No incentives are available in Slovakia. For that kind of money, I can order Tesla model Y performance which does 0 to 100kmph in 3.7seconds (vs the 8.6 seconds for Audi.. 8.6! So slow! Freaking Diesel VW Multivan does 0 to 100 in 8.6 seconds..) and offers much better practicality and more space. Why on earth would anyone buy the Audi?
@@pietrom893 build quality, equipment which the Tesla’s doesn’t offer, better ride quality (Teals is very rough), lower wind noise, lower price. The Tesla performance is fun, but not important in real life.
@@Ewoodster what equipment? And price is not really lower at all, especially if you compare veichles with the same equipment. Build quality is indeed better on the VW (for now), even though quality of materials in the cabin has been on steady decline for a few years now. Also with “performance” I was not referring to the acceleration, but also top speed (which on the VWs is limited to 160 or 180 km/h), and most importantly efficiency of the motors, and this is far better on the Teslas. BTW I just want to make it clear that I don’t hate VW or am a fanboy! I’m just trying to think as a person who is on the market for an EV!
@@pietrom893 In Germany, the Q4 e-Tron is cheaper than the Model Y Long Range, has more features (like HUD, Matrix LED light, 360 camera, better sound system) and has a solid service network. I don’t even want to talk about quality, suspension and noise. The only thing (especially now, that Tesla is opening the SuperCharger network) that is in favour of the Model Y is, that it’s 1s quicker from 0-100.
Good comparison in terms of specs. I prefer Audi in terms of look and some other details but the price is something needs to taken in consideration as well. In my country basic version of Audi is around 5k euros more expensive than vw and difference just will grow higher after adding some extras, easily up to 10-15k. Here comes the real issue for me, is Audi that much better 😊? Have test driven Audi only so far and liked it much, but I need to test drive vw as well. In terms of look I prefer vw id5 and sport back from audi.
Good review, as usual, Thomas. I like the Audi, but does it handle better than the EV6? Can it beat the Cadillac Lyriq? I'm also eager to see the Ariya. Vinfast, and Ocean tested. Mach schnell! BTW, no mention of available auto pilot for these VW products? The Lyriq Supercruise is the best out there.
I mean, why is the range so low when you look at the numbers? I test drove a ID4 GTX the other week and it was about 90% with an estimated range of just over 200km. Is it really that bad? It's not acceptable for a car for around $70k in Sweden.
the roof plays a major role for noise...otherwise they look like ioniq5 vs ev6, biased, but none perfect. audi is better, but also much more expensive. besides the front where audi looks better, designwise both look equally attractive to me.
I think Enyaq and ID4 are comparable. Audi would be like the Genesis GV60. More refined, more upmarket. I actually like the look of the VW more than the Audi.
For me it’s ID4 from the outside but Q4 for the much better interior. Both should receive an update on max charging power. 100kW is already far behind competitors.
Car reviewing talks all about kW max charge but then real life Utility most ppl don’t ever charge it except at home at night because if they’re going on a road trip they’re taking the other car.
1. It is 125 kw, not 100. 2. A upgrade to 175 kw will come for all models which currently can charge with 125 kw. 3. The charging curve is important, not the peak power. Tesla can charge with more than 200 kw, but drops extremely fast and in the end is not much faster in total.
Imho: Exterior wise: ID 4, Interior wise: Q4 e-tron. Multimedia differences are caused by chip shortage. ID4 buyers should be offered a free chip upgrade once those are available again. Then my choice certainly would be on the ID 4.
I have seen that SONOS is doing the stereos for Audi now, any chance we can get some impressions on that? I know it's hard to review hifi in a UA-cam video though!
I find the use of high gloss black plastic on the interiors very annoying - this is such an impractical choice. It is a fashion at the moment with many manufacturers, but it really puts me off. I find both interiors rather busy and fussy. I currently own a BMW i3, the interior is lovely, even though this is an older design, it feels better than both of these offerings from VAG.
I tried both cars and have ordered a Q4 (40 S-Line). The XC40 has much better performance (not really a priority for me - the Audi is fast enough) and is similar in feel to the Audi in terms and quality, refinement and interior but for me the XC40 boot was too small. Both are really nice cars though. They have almost identical leasing cost (in the UK). I went for the Audi as it has enough space for me and has good leasing rates.

Thomas! We love you and your reviews. Been watching for a while now and always good to watch and entertaining.
Welcome!!
Thomas, I live in an area that has winter road conditions, including snow. Would you please drive some of these AWD EV’s in the snow to compare there abilities to their ICE AWD competitors. Are they any good, it’s important to a large segment of the buyers.
Agree, would be interesting to see
In theory, the EV AWD should do better than ICE AWD.
@@ΘάνατοςΧορτοφάγος Actual driving perhaps yes, but it's also about the battery range in winter conditions.
Think we can do that soon!
Any car can drive in snow if it has the right tyres.
I've did a test drive in
- Audi Q4
- Mustang Mach E
- VW ID5
- KIA EV6
- Renault Megane E Tech
- Tesla model 3
If you put all the cars next to each other on paper, the KIA and Tesla wins.
Love your reviews all the way in Texas USA .. thank you sir
👍👍
@@ISuperTed if you want good interiors, go for Tucson.
Supposed to be all fixed with 2023 models.
Thanks m8
@@5DollarHoller I found the Q4 suspension harsh and road noise intrusive. ID4 GTX is what I ordered
Thomas is the best vehicle reviewer on you tube.
It's so nice to have many choices to buy an EV in this size! And more on the way in 2022.
Given how easy it is to accidentally move driver's view elements by just sliding your hand over capacitive touch buttons, I'd also say that the real buttons and scroll wheels were also better.
cheers!
Great review. Waiting for the ultimate comparison: Enyaq IV vs ID4 vs Q4 ETRON
The Skoda Enyaq and even Kodiaq have great exterior looks. I like them better than the Audi Q3/Q4.

Updated 2024 ID4 is now a much better proposition than the Q4.

I prefer Q4, because the interior and infotainment system soft looks and works better. Also brand value in better in Audi
Audi infotaiment is so lame... It is back to A4 A5 A6 series. No OTA upgrades, no shop still. So limited. Also Audi is always removing options vs adding sth new. Never ever Audi again.
Same for me (I have ordered one). Tried the ID4 and really did not like it to use. The Audi isn’t perfect but way better than ID4 (or Enyaq).

@@lorenzmuller4000 is that true??
9:00 just like Thomas I wonder how the designers thought blue and red would be a nice combo 🙄
When comparing the exterior appearance of both vehicles, it would help if they were the same colour.
You're on crack if you think the ID 4 looks better than the Q4.
@@ziczakegypt6632 my opinion. If you don’t like it, move on.
Love the two-way, back-to-back reviews. But this should have been a 3-way... Skoda, Audi, VW.

Great video as always, Thomas. Which car to go for? Polestar 2 rwd or Q4 e-tron 40 rwd. After configuration Audi is € 5000 is more expensive.

Thomas, great review. As was unable to get over range anxiety. Opted for a 2022 Audi Q3 with the larger engine. Love it.
They use the same old battery tech. Tesla already has NMC technology which doesn't have problems with charging at low temperature.
Awesome video review 👌👍 huge difference of the interior the Audi is 5 star
I prefer volkswagen id4 gtx. I love how it looks
I love how you looks too ❤️
Its a lot less pretension. The grill on an electric car, just screams of fake.
In Bulgaria
US
These cars will depreciate very quickly, they only sell cars in my country because of business lease.
8month waiting list. i spend perhaps 5euros charging my car a week. go figure
Great detailed review. Very helpful.
Great vid, what is VW thinking with the blue patches inside. Capacitive buttons on the VW are understandable, but it cheapens the Audi.
It's a very practical and nice car indeed but god who came up with this design😂
Skoda Enyaq is much better combination of interior and exterior design than the ID.4 and much cheaper than the Q4 e-tron. Had it for a couple of days and was very pleased.
Skoda Enyaq in my opinion is worse than Kia Ioniq 5, I was testing both

Audi always design great looking cars but the ID4 is a really nice, clean design. What I like about the VW is that it is understated. With the upgraded taillights, the car looks premium. Cars are getting very expensive so the Q4 is probably a bit of a stretch for most people in the highest trim.

Tesla is cheap made to be compared to vw group, and even costs more
In german Car Press (Auto Motor und Sport) they always measure at different speeds.
The ID 4 had 68db at 130km/h and the Model 3 73db (don't know if they have tested Model Y already). 5 db is a LOT...3db is already doubling the noise indensity.
The Q4 is even less noisy...
@@josefv-y8m Not true. 10db is doubling the noise intensity. But 68-73 is 5db, which can create discomfort at autobahn.
can you do audi q4 etron prestige model VS model Y comparison. specifically want to hear the door closing sounds

Thomas good day as always great presentation. My impression Audi is very expensive for what it offer, VW maybe if they fix the quality of interior. Thanks again for your time
I own a big e-tron and my wife got Q4 50 a few months ago. While I like Q4 too, there are some "bad" things about it:
- MMI - users are not implemented (yet?) so anything about that is a mess. myAudi app is really a poorly executed project for years now.
- capacitive touch on steering wheel is bad, not practical due to poor feedback and finding buttons
- DCC suspension - don't buy that.
Thanks for the extensive feedback !

Love it - complains about the blue/red/black styling combination while wearing a blue/red coat & black hat..... 😂
Hi, great review. Would it be possible to know the brand of the blue jacket? Many thanks!
Gaastra m8
@@autogefuehl Danke!
The Skoda. With the brown leather interior, looks more premium than either of these jokes.
close, but Audi is Audi.
Where is Skoda, you moron? Skods looks cheaper than VW, and what it is, skinned VW. 🤣
@@Enko063 Skoda enyaq is the same car and to be honest the best looking of the 3 in my opinion
I don't like the Skoda, at all. As always the design of Skoda is.. I don't know.. feels cheesy.
Skoda is a poor man´s Audi.
Space for dog box gets reduced every year. Just to create a sexy slope. It’s a big problem for dog owners. Touran shape was great.
What brand is your jacket Thomas.
I mean, why is the range so low when you look at the numbers? I test drove a ID4 GTX the other week and it was about 90% with an estimated range of just over 200km. Is it really that bad? It's not acceptable for a car for around $70k in Sweden.
Does anybody know if the Q4 has the new trifocal camera for the autopilot?
Thank you Thomas for a great video....mvh Magnus Lemhage Skövde Sweden 😀
the roof plays a major role for noise...otherwise they look like ioniq5 vs ev6, biased, but none perfect. audi is better, but also much more expensive.
besides the front where audi looks better, designwise both look equally attractive to me.
I think Enyaq and ID4 are comparable. Audi would be like the Genesis GV60. More refined, more upmarket. I actually like the look of the VW more than the Audi.
Our Kia EV6 review is now here: ua-cam.com/video/1rpS311emAQ/v-deo.html
for me the Audi Q4 e-tron 50 please. But I would try to change the steering wheel if possible with some normal buttons
I would like to have both cars😍
Thomas, did the GTX had "Doppel Verglasung"?
Is Audi stepping away from Bang & Olufsen sound system in favor of Sonos?
Imho: Exterior wise: ID 4, Interior wise: Q4 e-tron. Multimedia differences are caused by chip shortage. ID4 buyers should be offered a free chip upgrade once those are available again. Then my choice certainly would be on the ID 4.
I have seen that SONOS is doing the stereos for Audi now, any chance we can get some impressions on that? I know it's hard to review hifi in a UA-cam video though!
I saw a review of the sonos already and test it out myself. It's good but not the best. A Harman Kardon system is better...
Thomas you need to review an i pace
Great comparison, thanks!
Whould you take the eq4 over the volvo xc40?
Cheers!! Both attractive for sure, also the C40: ua-cam.com/video/xtcOStE9ypY/v-deo.html
Please compare enyaq with MG 🙏
