Pete the engines point out something’s that humans wouldn’t consider blunders sometimes ,but on the other hand Magnus would find a lot of inaccuracies in his own play that the engine wouldn’t even consider a mistake or inaccuracy. I’m not near Magnus but my average is about 2 to 3 inaccuracies and 2 or 3 mistakes per game according to stockfish but I consider myself making about 3x more positional errors or bad plans overall even if the position doesn’t evaluate much change like if it’s in a closed position. Magnus's comments are often being made fun of instead of taking lessons. Neither Magnus nor the other players are robots. They all are human improving their skills each day. One of the main characteristics of human players which differ them from computers is the emotion which computers don't have. There are some moments in which even the best chess players feel weak and ruined for very simple reasons such as sleeping few hours, not feeding well the body, arguing with a friend or a lover , being withness of a scary thing in your daily life or the decease of a very close friend or family member. If you want to play powerful and achieve good result, you should play chess in your best moments. So i would respond to the question "Why am i so weak at Dynamics in chess?" because today you are not feeling well yourself.
5:10 Queen to A4 at this point an infiltrating move would have made Carlsen to play defensively. A check at d4 or central pawn grabbing at e4 would have unsettled Carlsen.
Nobody's perfect, I guess (although you're pretty close). Your strong points far outweigh this 1 less strong point. Too hard on yourself as usual too, I think. But maybe that's how you always continue to improve too, idk. Thanks, good game Magzy! Ps. This could just be a late (for us) April 1sr joke too, lol.
at 6:50 Qg5 is winning?? threat is Rxf6, pawn takes, queen takes - if queen block then either rook is hanging. if king moves then u can play Rb3 and check next move if instead black plays Rg8, then Qh6+ rg7 qh8+ rg8 Rxf6 - same exchange as before but this time the black king cant move, so after queen block you take on D8
I like it. Though black would just get mated if he plays Qf7 with Qxf7# (backed by the pawn on e6). So Qg5 Rg8 would just result in black getting mated after Rxf6. Maybe black can defuse the attack with Rh7? Let's say ... Qg5 Rh7, Rxf6+ exf6, Rf1? I think Rf1 would win back the sac'd rook for white at least if not checkmate. Nice catch with Qg5!
At 7:22 what if Magnus moved his pawn to d6 instead of e5? Because then if the opponent captures the pawn with his pawn then Magnus can check him and the only move is to block with queen and then Magnus can checkmate with f7? If the opponent instead captures the d6 pawn with the rook then after Carlsen recaptures the rook then he will still be able to deliver check on the newly undefended f6 pawn. I am assuming there is a glaring noob mistake that I am making. Edit: Lol, I just put this into stockfish 10 and of course it says to make the move that Carlsen moved.
He certainly can take the pawn, but it would weaken his position. Example: 10....Bxc3+ 11.Bd2 Bxd2+ (if he moves his bishop you take the knight so it's forced) 12. Qxd2 Nd4 13.Nxd4 cxd4 14.qxd4 and you have the pawn back with a good position. If 12...Nb8 holding on to the pawn, white has much more space and developed pieces. Black has a weak king and no pieces developed. So white can finish development or just play Qc3 attacking the c pawn and rook immediately.
You can, but after something like ...Bxc3+ Bd2 Bxd2+ (else Nc6 falls) Qxd2 Na5 Qc3 hitting h8, white has great play on the weakened dark squares and can also recover his pawn (Qxc5) if he wishes
Wherein Magnus Carlson demonstrates not only why he is a world champion chess player but that he is also a world champion trash talker. BTW, I'd give him knight odds... because it wouldn't make any difference to the result.
@5:02, why not rook-f take pawn f7? Queen forced to take, rook-b to f1, black rook h8 to h7 defending, free rook. Queen vs rook ending clearly winning. Am I missing something there?
Guys, I'm pretty new to chess so I'm confused at 0:52. What's the point of that move? I know all the high-rated chess players play it, so there must be something I'm missing.
My guess would be a few things: It essentially lays claim to G5; which might be a good place to have a piece in many games, it opens up H2 in case the king ends up on that side. Alpha Zero likes the move too, so it seems pretty solid.
After Bxc3, Bd2 will force an bishop exchange since the knight on c6 is under attack. Black needs that bishop since it is controlling the long diagonal and most importantly protects the king when he plans on castling.
To attack Black's king side after Black castles shor with pawn h4-h5. If Black takes with the G-pawn, the H-file will be open for White's rook and queen.
