Updated beginners start procedure for the ATR-42/72 600 in Microsoft Flight Simulator

- Following updates to the ATR series of aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator yesterday, it became obvious that the startup procedure from "cold and dark" has changed - so I have updated the checklist, and recorded a new startup procedure walk-through.
To download the updated checklist, head to my shop at ko-fi where you can download any of my checklists, and chip in a small amount if you wish:

It's worth noting that this is a FUNCTIONAL start procedure - I don't get involved too much in programming a route into the MCDU, running any of the tests, or monitoring many of the pressures and so on that a real flight crew would do - we're doing the absolute minimum.

Not sure if this is a recent change due to the most recent update, but you cannot have the Gust Lock disengaged while attempting to operate the Prop Brake; it must be re-engaged when starting Prop 2/Engine 1 after hotel mode startup (don't forget to re-engage before takeoff) - I believe this is real-life accurate to the operation of the ATR42/72 but might be worth a mention in your checklist! Fantastic video though, got me off the ground for a test flight and now I'm planning my first flight.
My altitude indicator won’t work
One issue I have found with the atr is, once you shut it off and try to start it again, it will not. Not sure if you have delt with this or not
The approach mode is 100% broken. Only have issues holding glide slope in ATR. Its a shame.... And by the way holding the hydraulic button caused the issue with the ready button, simple click worked instead.
Its a "short click" on the AUX Pump button only, in addition you can bring up the SYS HYD page to monitor .../ Finally figured it out today ;-)
Thanks John. I bought you a cup of coffee, but still need a bit of advice. Running this plane on an Xbox S and no matter what I have tried I cannot get the front wheel to steer from a cold & dark. If I start from the runway position all is fine . . . I can’t figure this out. Thanks.
I HAVE TO SAY YOU DO A GREAT JOB WITH VIDEOS AND YOUR CHECKLIST.
What about the broken EFB? It does not load SB correctly
I still seem to have a fault warning on the blue hydraulic, I have followed everything exact, so I'm not sure what's happening.
Jonathan: Thank you for this video. I hadn't flown the ATR since the most recent update, and was unaware of the revised start-up procedures. I couldn't get the starboard prop to rotate and had to scrap a flight at KBOS while communicating with Boston ground on Vatsim. Somewhat embarrasing, but your video has now solved the issue completely. I very much appreciate the time you spend on these lessons and evaluations of the various aircraft. Take care!
Thanks for this update! These are always very helpful. THANK YOU for figuring out the prop-brake issue!
Thank you for this video. I stills a bit of confidence than I might be able to wrap my head around this plane. If only “flown” small VFR craft and I feel so out of my depth with all this.
Fantastic video - thanks a lot!
Thx Jon, just what I needed to know…nice & short !
Thank you Jon, good work as always !
Thank y o u so much for the video and checklist. This has turned into my favorite aircraft to fly.
With this set of instruction, I might have the baby step I need to get into airliners. It's not so intimidating. Thanks for this!
Great video! Short and to the point!
Your videos are so amazing. Thank you so much for all your work and sharing of knowledge
Excellent tutorial Jonathan 👏 Many thanks.
