Love this little rig, (really love the colour too) small, rugged, and old school, this is the beast you want when you don't want to spend 120k on something that has more bells and whistles than a whistle convention, then you still have to pay another 40+k just for a few accessories
I had my doubts about Mahindra but Im seeing plenty in Western Australia currently ,Ive spoken to a few owners and they love the basic design and doing exacty what is required for their business I am impressed and with some of the add ons they look the part. Alot of blokes and blokesses what a workhorse not a showpony.👍👍Roothy yours look bloody terrific!
Let’s see if it’s going to be reliable past 100k kilometres . That’s the question to be answered. I have a 24 year old hilux 470k still going perfectly. Uses no oil blows no smoke. See if that shit box does that
@AndyL940 there's a transport mob in the Hunter that have a few with 600 k and one with 800 k , I've got one, only 80 k so far, I freakin love them. 8:54
John. You living my life there and I wanna be like you when I grow up. I love the fact that you got a Mahindra cause I have been doing things with my Thar. 💯🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 Fan
We've worked this one mildly down bat 4WD I(industries in Rutherford - with a chip and pipes it's making 300hp really easy. It's as easy or easier than most to make mods too - all Bosch electrics anyway.
Good luck with the Oricom airal. Mine came apart only 50 km up the Tanami Track . The joint above the screw in section must have been glued in with wood glue. I did capture it disappearing over the bull bar on our dash cam. My supplier suggested I stick it up with silastic, don't bother. There's not enough meat in there to use anything. Stick it in the back of your shed, it doesn't fall to pieces there.
Hi Roothy , fantastic Mahindra you got, i have a S4 single cab. Only problem i have is an oil leak i suspect from the crank seal on the gearbox side. The vehicle only has 10 000 km from new. Any idea where i could get a workshop manual?
One of the things I like about the Pik Up is that it's a bit old fashioned rugged - they've got a new ute coming that's much more mainstream. Google Mahindra Global Ute.
All good until you need parts. Great ute let down by company & dealership's..have a single cab ute pickup. Stuck at Coen fnq 1 week waiting for a fan belt. Mahindra Cairns didn't have one . Had to access one outside mahindra company. They will never compete with mainstream (toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford. Etc ) until they fix this problem. I'm sure Mr rooth will not experience these problems as a salesman for the brand. But for the general punter just get in line and wait. Ps currently waiting for part to fix oil leak . It has been 2 weeks and I'm not going to hold my breath.
Fair call, probably pretty right for most vehicles these days too - however whatever happened to rule number one? Travel with a spare belt and hoses? And as to the belt, did you try an industrial bolt/belt supplier? Belts aren't brand specific, they're length and cross section stuff.
Provided it's a "V" belt you can always get a pair of panty hose and create a belt from a pair. Round the pulleys, pull like buggery to tension it, tie off in a knot, cut off excess, you're on your way You'd be surprised how long they last. No good for serpentine pulleys though. I got a "Motor Mechanic" nth of Maryborough going once by this method. He'd never heard if it and thought I was crazy when I asked the wife for a set of her best. We got the alternator, water pump going, we bypassed the A/C, just need the basics operating to keep going. May help someone in desperation.
Just get your spares from Toowoomba mahindra , they've got all the shit in stock, express post out that day, I'm in grafton, gold coast mahindra are bloody hopeless
Mate, not sure if you've driven the Canning but it's no harder than driving off the beach at Straddle - just a long long way away and as remote as you can get, but a doddle to drive.
John, you missed a good week over on Moreton last week. Couple of showers but there was some absolute dreadful washouts. Not many fish but I did get a 2.5+ Sweetlip.
Hmmm, someone else who hasn't driven one for twenty years - now they're much the same as every other small turbo diesel, and when tuned like this it makes an easy 300hp -
After chugging around in old Toyota's for years, clambering along off road, yearning for more oomph on road, this in it's tuned state would feel like a rocketship. So long as it's doing the job, who cares. If you want real power, wait in line and order the new BYD Shark.

Gotta admit, that's a sweet looking rig 👍
Came for the man, stayed for the rig, enjoyed the Land Rover background along the way.
Love the vehicle AND your enthusiasm enjoy many trips in her ! ! ! !
Looks good mate, can’t wait to see it out bush
That antenna seems a bit close to the paint work mate. A few good corrugated roads and u might need some touch up paint
Well spotted, it';s already done the shake and touch but no dramas -
Looks great roothy, nothing wrong with a basic kitted out 4wd that’s way cheaper then a base 79

I've got Ben and the boys building me one right now. Seriously can't wait
Yep, got the right team on the job there - you'll love it!
Like the series in the background.
You should be proud of it Roothy what an awesome setup mate. I Bet there are lots of jealous Mahindra owners around, Safe travels buddy
Loving it mate
I rigged up a rocker winch control in my old '90 GQ years ago, great addition, run Maxxis 980's now have the RAZR AT's on the Triton.
Looking good mate.
Loving Mahindra especially in that nice green, much more then other 4x4 with exhaust system, does come with enlarge manifold, chip, turbo upgrade?

I see your a fan of Urchfab, the musy pea green looks great on milo 2.0
Cheers for the vid ❤
If a Jimny and a 79 series had a child, it would be a mahindra
Hahaha - can almost see that!

With the water tank, spare tyre, canopy and rooftop tent, have you upgraded the suspension much, you still have to load up all your camping gear yet
Looks mint
Classic
Blast from the past.😮
Thanks for sharing cobba
I see a Mahindra out here in Meckering quite a lot. I think one lives here!
Would be interesting to see how they mounted the rock sliders with the exhaust…
Awesome
What a weapon!
very nice

Ahh call India or maybe chat gpt?
Ring Toowoomba mahindra, talk to Dale, very knowledgeable and has helped me a lot
Lovely rig John from Steve near Chester England 🏴 where the Roman's once lived.
Why have Mahindra discontinued the pik up if they are as good as you say?
Was going to buy one but don't want a 2 or 3 year old car.
Check out the new Global model!
One of the things I like about the Pik Up is that it's a bit old fashioned rugged - they've got a new ute coming that's much more mainstream. Google Mahindra Global Ute.
They haven't discontinued the pikup, new global pikup due 2027/28 in Australia.
She's looking sweet Roothy. How's the weight looking after all the add-ons?
Definitely noticeable but not so much on the highway - gearing and motor is very good.

How are you John 😎
Excellent for a old bloke who's hammered his body anyway!
Go wheeling again with Graham.... would be great ....
Reminds me of a cordial orange
You've changed
It's called age! hahaha
Keen to catch up with you when you get to WA. I'll show you my weapon of a 69 series 💪🏾
Do not take that down the canning. It won't make it
You wouldn't know shit mate 😂
Mate, not sure if you've driven the Canning but it's no harder than driving off the beach at Straddle - just a long long way away and as remote as you can get, but a doddle to drive.
Have you seen the roads in India? Think before you type.
Picks of mahindra on the canning in mahindra forum, I'd take my mahindra anywhere I'd take most anything else.
👀🤙👍
245/75/16s - the right tyre size for touring
Better sick to riding Harleys… less distance to hurt yourself. 😂
Never stopped riding! And never will until I can't!!!
@ I in the same boat. Last of the 998’s
John, you missed a good week over on Moreton last week. Couple of showers but there was some absolute dreadful washouts. Not many fish but I did get a 2.5+ Sweetlip.
If you're not on Moreton your missing out period right!!!
You know it John. Why is your new car not painted Milo green?
Would be better leaving it stock.
I bet your favourite position is Missionary to 😂
I do miss the tray back - but can't have everything.
They come underpowered from factory , and with all that extra weight from front to back , it will be unbearable to travel in
