8:37 that's from 2020 not 2021
Yes
All years, not just 2021
@@XXJE001 lol
@@XXJE001 but the crash from grojean is from 2020
@@XXJE001 yes but the vid said it was from 2021 that's what he meant
Grosjean's crash is still one of the scariest i've ever seen.
The worst part is hearing the description from him on Drive to Survive. He said something along the lines of he was about to give up from escaping until he felt a hand from a track official or whatever they are called.
@@dontebullard7423 By the time the medics got to him he'd done all the hard work to get out. It was the thought of his kids that gave him the energy.
It was contact with The Torpedo that caused it. Watch the 2016 Chinese GP to understand who i'm referring to
@@corbinselanne7990 The accident was Romain's fault though. He cut across Kvyat very suddenly and Daniil couldn't avoid it.
@@corbinselanne7990 don't disrespect The Torpedo. This was not even close to his fault, and he was extremely apologetic and was near crying when it happened because he saw the fire and knew he was still likely inside. Grosjean knows it was his fault or a racing incident, but for crashes like this it does not matter, what matters is that he survived and they both continue to race today.
I remember watching the grosjean crash live, I think everyone thought they were watching a man die.
Yeah me too, it was the first F1 race I watched live for a long time. Then boom, there goes a Grosjean.
I too thought he died.
He did too, then remembered he has a wife and children.
One of those crashes where everyone remembers where they were when it happened
Yeah me and the wife saw it live and my wife totally broke down.
That Grosjean crash is truly unbelievable. I know everyone keeps talking about the halo every time there is an accident these days, but it genuinely seems like we've missed at least one or two potential fatalities since its introduction.
100% even if the halo didnt save his life per-se, what are the chances he’d have been aware enough to extract himself without it.
There’s no way they were getting him out of there.
we've seen lives in the double digits saved by halo
@@jasmine.rchrds no we haven't, Grosjean was the first one i would say was definite 100%, the rest are maybes, its certainly reduced injuries but the hyperbole about double digits lives saved is just that hyperbole
This is the only one I have no doubt about. Guy would've been decapitated or knocked unconscious in a best case scenario, but then burnt alive in that case.
@@motornautSean Galael during Hubert’s fatal crash too would’ve been awful. A flying tire would’ve gone directly to his head if there were no halo
The Indy crews are always on site before the car even stops skidding.
Not long waiting for part two, that's the spirit!
Insane and incredibly dangerous the way the tyre got sent to the moon at 2:47, could have landed anywhere
Stefan Wilson has a new one
He won't be in this year's Indianapolis 500 because of injuries sustained in a practice crash
And Kyle Kirkwood
I'm surprised Formula 1 approved a track design as late as the 2020's with an unprotected slat-metal fence sticking outward towards the racing surface. Grosjean's survival was miraculous, but how the track design allowed that nightmare to occur in the first place is unacceptable from F1.
it wasnt the track designs fault. there are so many barriers like that in f1. it was a freak isolated incident were somethings went right and some things went wrong.
@@JohnCena-wv1le Counterargument, all crashes are freak incidents and barriers should be made to protect drivers from them
5:59 i was actually there when it happened, i was in turn 4 and saw it on the jumbotron, fastest id seen people go silent
@0:51 I'm going out on a whim here and I'm gonna say that tire changer is no longer employed in INDY car.
8:37 Mate. It's 2020.
7:48 big one
Grosjean's crash was in 2020 and it's not only a miracle that he survived but he's still racing
Grosjean getting out real quick under his own power in the middle of a ball of fire is insane. Thank goodness he was not knocked unconscious.
crazy how the “pop” when he hit the wall was so delayed from the actual impact because of how fast verkay was going 3:29
Not to say it wasn't a hard impact but the delay is actually only due to the distance between the camera/mic and the source of sound. If you watch cricket (or baseball) from a distance you'll notice you can see the ball is hit before you hear it be hit.
Penske actually attributes the Malukas/Windom accident as a reason the Freedom 100 is no longer run
Colton Herta was very lucky.
David Malukas, nasty
Kirkwood and Stefan Wilson's biggest crashes have now happened at Indy 2023.
Grosjean's crash in 2020 still the BIGGEST and SCARIEST one ever.
The scariest accident was at Watkins Glen/USA in 1974, when Helmut Koinigg went off a rather slower section of the track, crashed into a detached crash barrier and was decapitated by it.
No
Gorden Smiles fatal crash
Grosjean crashed during the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, he never raced in F1 during 2021
Grosjean was 2020 not 2021
I love David Croft's commentary
Pretty sure the rahal accident was the only one in that race, it was a bizarrely clean month, practice included
There was also a crash in the pits, on lap 34, ironically it was Wilson.
@@PyroBun_2844 ah yeah. Don't think they needed the yellow for that one though as it was in the pit lane
Conor Daly em Monaco espetacular 👏👏👏
Thank goodness they use halo protection now.
who was the driver involved in Malukas' crash?
Chris windom
David Malukas' wreck is what Penske attributes to a reason they dont run the Freedom 100 anymore
Wait, has the red car at 2:34 already lost his rear wing before the crash happened?
Yes
@@Av1cenna56 I’ve seen that crash quite a few times, and never noticed before. Do you know what happened?
@@Fons.s Less Drag
He had lost it weaving like a jerk earlier on and still defended his position dangerously as if he wasn't going to get a black and white meatball flag, the idiot
How he wasn't banned for that I'll never know
I've seen this crash so many times and had never noticed that! 😱. F3 is heading back to Monaco this weekend with a 30 car grid... hopes its a bit better behaved 😅
2:31 is that guy casually driving without a rear wing?
wtf your right
And he almost caused someone to fly into the water
Yeah. its why he got all the blame dodging around on a straightaway
There are several high-profile drag racers that won't race with Armco barriers on the track. yet Formula 1 does it all the time. with all the money they have, safer barriers should be installed
to be fair....a top fuel dragster is going about twice the speed of an f1 car
@InvisibleTeeth you're not being fair you need to watch Tim Mcamis
@@Posirep I'm talking about promods top fuel vehicles are not remotely close to any other kind of automotive sport or equipment
4:39 RHR missed a race after that crash if I remember correctly.
Nope, he raced the next day!
finished 8th the next day.
How about Dixon's insane flying crash at Indy in 2017?
These d rivers have guts
I think Crofty thinks we can't see the fire
It was also for radio.
@@CJMVector321190 exactly right.
Gordon Smily maybe scared me a little too much
Can’t wait for all the whoas and ohhhs during the race from the clowns in the booth.
And Canapino?
Where's Marco Andretti??
6:56 🤭
Halo definitely saved Grosjean
2:17 did the red car not have a rear wing? was that allowed?
Suranovich had accident before that crash with Daly. But despite having his rear wing gone, he still defended the position.
Indy lights need Halo
Where is Enerson? Or Canapino?
they will be in part 3
It's Kyle Kirkwood not Kyle Krikwood
The crash
why is the thumbnail indy nxt cars?
because David Malukas raced there
Grojean wins, and will probably win forever
Haha not kirkwood s crash anymore!
Is 2020 the crash of Romain Grosjean
grosjean was 2020
🤘🤙🤟🦵👋👍👑❤️
Bring back Paul Tracy
hunter-reays crash would have been so much uglier without safer barriers
stephan wilson's really didn't age well 💀
Thats garrys mod
Indy 500? not all - bad title
Indy 500 Entries'
well kyle kirkwood has a new worst crash now
Why in GOD'S name was Rahal's car released with an unsecured wheel?? Unbelievable-
it was a mistake, we see it a lot of the time
@@FormulaArcticChampionship sorry, there should be "0" mistakes in that level of racing - no excuse
@@stevebigansky9372 sorry their not robots
@@FormulaArcticChampionship the sport in dangerous enough already without some MORON leaving a wheel loose
@@stevebigansky9372it happens in every series on the planet. theyre humans, not robots. How many times do we see legendary teams like Ferrari make these types of mistakes? all the time.
I dont mind Crofty and his shouting but when a race starts and you see fireball or a bad accident... surely you stop shouting...
Why can't Americans even drive in circles without crashing? 🤡🙈🤡
