Funnily enough, I used the trilogy to prepare for a mock trial in Grade 12 where I was going to be the defense attorney. I even used some lines from the games against a witness (well... sort of). In the mock trial, I asked him how dark was it that night and he replied that it was pitch black. I asked him in response that if it was pitch black, how could he see anything? Another question was "How do you know it was the defendant?" to which the very same witness replied with, "Because he has short hair." My follow-up? "So? There are women with short hair. Are you saying they're men, too?" Irony abounds at the end. I got 100% on being the defense attorney. Lost to a prosecutor named "Wright"
Its funny because the one time you actually had to flash your attorneys badge to progress in the game i was stuck on for like 15mins because at that point i just assumed it never did anything
To give some more context to the whole 'Edgeworth is dead to me' thing, that wasn't just Phoenix being dramatic. After the end of AA1, Edgeworth apparently left the country covertly, just disappearing without telling ANYONE. And all he left behind was a note that read, and I quote, "Prosecutor Edgeworth chooses death." Y'know, like a SUICIDE NOTE. So most of the tension between Phoenix and Edgeworth (and Fransiska, who blames Edgeworth's depression on Phoenix beating him so many times) is that for most of the game, Phoenix thinks Edgeworth is ACTUALLY DEAD, and when he comes back, he's really fucking smug and Phoenix is understandably pissed the Edgeworth made think he was ACTUALLY F*CKING DEAD!
I don’t think Phoenix ever thought Edgeworth was truly dead. That would be a really shitty move on Edgeworth’s part. Plus, in the games Phoenix straight up says “…that’s when I *decided*… the Edgeworth I knew was dead” If he really thought he was dead, this isn’t something Phoenix can just “decide” on. It’s a very deliberate word choice, and it does make Phoenix come off as a bit dramatic (and rightfully hurt). But it’s on brand for his character; he thought he could save Edgeworth and make him believe in the ideals he used to believe in as a kid. When Edgeworth didn’t accept his help the way Phoenix had hoped for, he felt betrayed and that “the Edgeworth he knew was dead.” Which then allows Edgeworth to come in and help Phoenix in turn- Phoenix who had been clinging to some noble, but unrealistic ideals about being able to save people. The Engarde case is Phoenix's low point because he struggles with the very thing Edgeworth is able to guide him through: he put his trust into the wrong client and feels powerless to save Maya, and is in a lose-lose dilemma where an innocent person will be killed regardless of if he gets Engarde acquitted or not. In other words, Phoenix, who wants to be someone who rescue innocents, will doom the very people he wants to save. Edgeworth is the one who reminds him that they are just humans, not heroes. He is the one who tells Phoenix he needs to be careful about who he trusts, and to pursue the truth. It is because of Edgeworth that Phoenix can face up to his feelings of powerlessness and find the truth. It's impactful because Phoenix's anger and feelings of betrayal at Edgeworth stem not from genuine grief, but rather an attachment to being the hero who can save people. It is this flaw that leads Phoenix to his low point, and makes it fitting that Edgeworth, the one who Phoenix "couldn't save," is the one who saves Phoenix from his misguided beliefs.
I don't think that is the case at all. Phoenix didn't think that Edgeworth was dead, but the way Edgeworth had abandoned everything and betrayed his own values hurt Phoenix so much that even when he comes back Phoenix is still mad and doesn't even forgive him. The Edgeworth he looked up to so much was "dead". Remember that Edgeworth was the reason Phoenix started studying law after all.
Cmon Phoenix isn’t dumb, there’s no way he actually believed Edgeworth died. If he did he definitely would’ve tried to investigate instead of being mad at a dead guy
I think he did believe Edgeworth was dead because he was surprised when von karma said he was still alive probably , he told maya and Pearl that he was “no longer with us” which isn’t really something you say about someone who’s still alive, and when Edgeworth reappeared he literally said “I thought you were dead” (or something along the lines of that anyway)

One of the retroactively funny moments in the series is when Phoenix first meets Maya, and Maya says that according to Mia, Phoenix will be an experienced and reliable lawyer in 3 years. 3 Years later, Magnifi's trial happens
Godot is based on a play. Waiting for (you'll never guess) Godot! A play where 2 guys sit around Waiting For Godot. And then a kid walks up to them and says: "Sry m8 he's fukd off, he's not showing up" every day. And then they realise that they were wasting their time and shit.
We need a sequel explaining the Apollo trilogy 🥹 Also, if you can and like them, playing and explaining the Monkey Island series or the Kyle Hyde games would be awesome
I just want to clarify that the real reason why Phoenix wants to become a lawyer is because suddenly he read in the news that Edgeworth is a prosecutor attorney. Which to him is weird because the edgeworth he knows is someone who aspire to become a defense attorney. He tried calling edgeworth but edgeworth didn't respond, so in a desperate and dumb way of thinking, phoenix decide to become a defense lawyer thinking that someday he will face edgeworth in court and can talk. Yeah, pretty weird and dumb reason to become a lawyer.
As a huge Ace Attorney fan, I give you my thanks. You summed up the Ace Attorney games perfectly without any issues or missing key details. Amazing animations and drawings by the way and would love to see a Miles Edgeworth Investigations explained along with Apollo Justice as well. Awesome job!
10:05 This is so accurate though. You could see the most obvious contradictory evidence and then the game will be "Lol no. Wrong dialogue choice that shows Harry Anous is lying about seeing Kellen Broadlite kill that guy. Electric chair :D"
Very good chronological summary of the story! You absolutely nailed it and the animations are on point. The hard “t” at the end of Godot is killing me though…😩
Your videos normally help me cope with my anxiety lol. I really like watching them just explaining my favorite games to help distract me from my actual life. Thanks for uploading!!
14:00 I mean… in Apollo Justice, Phoenix literally gets hit by a car, flies 30 feet in the air, hits his head on a pole, and walked it off like nothing happened. Even Apollo was shocked by this, but then Trucy’s like “I dunno, my dad’s always been built like that”
I fell down into the rabbit hole of watching his highlight videos once i discovered that Phoenix was in a fighting game. Its so funny seeing Nick throw hands and how all of his animations are references to the games is really cool
15:58 it gets even weirder because for like 50% of the case we assume Iris is Iris but is actually Maya being possessed by Dahlia who as a backup wanted to have Maya freeze to death, and didn't realize Iris and Maya switched places so she wasn't possessing her twin sister but Maya all along?
Ever wonder if Maya really DID commit all of those murders, and other people just confessed instead because they were so moved by how determined Phoenix was to reach a "Not Guilty"? All joking aside, 2-4 might be my favorite case. Best way to raise stakes and make a Guilty verdict a good thing!
2:00 HOLD IT! I just realized a plot hole! Quite the literal plot hole at that. When the gun miss fired and shot Von Karma, it made a hole, so how is it possible that they passed out due to oxygen if there was an open hole in the elevator!
They may have already passed out due to the lack of air, and the tiny amounts that entered through the small whole woild not restore their conciousness immediately
I love the animation in this, and the way you explained it was the cherry on top, I’m saying this while I’m playing the investigations collection, so this is a breath of fresh air
watching Barry Kramer's playthrough of this series, you start to realize that EVERYTHING is a clock! ...nah, but seriously, i really dig this video's take on everything...especially how it uses in-game Backgrounds and Dialogue, yet the Characters are redrawn to keep in-line with the 'style' of the rest of the video...
fr the artwork in the video is amazingly well done. Most people would've probably just used the pictures from the game itself, but no, this guy went and created ahnd made prictures of every single event of the game. Amazing work.
Chase sounds close to hysteria while explaining the entire Ace Attorney trilogy plot, and I do not blame him. The PW Trilogy is truly wild to the people who think the game is seriously just about lawyers.
The joke for Godot's name is a reference to the book "Waiting for Godot" because in the book nobody knows who Godot actually is, and the Godot in the game just showed up someday and nobody knows where he came from. There's even a line in the Mask⭐DeMask trial saying that there's people who spend their whole lives "waiting" to see Godot.
Never forget that most of the events in the story can be tied back to some dude failing in a cooking competition. (No I’m not joking if you know, you know)
My mind goes to “godot” being named after waiting for godot, where 2 characters wait the entire book for said person to arrive. Armando was in a coma for a while and people were waiting for him to wake up, so waiting for godot
Ema came first. She was introduced in the fifth case of the first game, and put into Apollo Justice later (because the DS version of AA1 came before AJ)
3:14 HOLD IT! The system in the fey clan don’t work like that, there is actually a test made between the daughters of the main family to see who has the most spiritual power, the winner becomes master of Kurain village and mother of the main family. And this is one of the reasons Mia became a lawyer, seeing the unhealthy rivalry Misty and Morgan had, she quit the village has she was scared of seeing the same thing happen to her and Maya.( And btw he was never inspired by Mia he was inspired by Edgeworth as he was studying to be a lawyer even though he was in art school(It’s complicated) but he did think Mia was cool so he came back to her to become her apprentice and help her discover that truth about what happened to her mother)
"And leaves the country of Ja-CALIFORNIA!" You got me so hard with this one. XD. Great vid, mate. Love your stuff. Edit: Also, dunno if you've played any of the "Tales Of" games, but they seem like they'd be up your alley. Vesperia and Symphonia are my favs.

From non canon books written by an ex-empolyee that the western fandom is convinced is canon but they suck and aren't canon (True Madou Monogatari or Shin Madou Monogatari by the way), remakes that add new plot elements so you can't tell which version is canon (the first three games, Arle's story of ARS), a game that is amazing in every way EXCEPT THEY GET THE PERSONALITY OF ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS WRONG (Madou Monogatari (SegaSaturn)), Sega getting the rights and adding mysteries that they do not answer (Amitie's magic hat, is the Crimson Spirit a victim of a prank that sealed him or an evil warlord that deserved it, what is Ecolo) A multiverse... Its a wild ride! I'd love to see you cover it
You gotta love the inconsistency in the adaptation of characters names Luke Atmey : Look At me Phoenix Wright : rises from the ashes like a Phoenix, as well as wright for right Godot : "Godot" originates from the Samuel Beckett play Waiting for Godot. This is furthered by Luke Atmey's comment that "some people spend their entire lives idly waiting for his appearance", a reference to the aforementioned play, in which two men wait for an acquaintance named Godot to arrive, contemplating suicide if he does not show up, effectively "waiting a lifetime". Godot himself also references the play when he states that "There wasn't anyone waiting for me when I woke up". Samuel Beckett stated that "GOD-oh" was the correct pronunciation for the character in his play. Despite this, the name is often pronounced "gə-DOH" in the United States, as is the case in the English dub of the anime adaptation. In Japanese, the name is pronounced "Godō" (ゴドー), which is also the case for the Ace Attorney character. In-universe it could be explained by the original name of the Eagle river/mountain - "Godou" (吾童), which can be read as "Godot", although Godot spells his name using katakana. Shu Takumi himself wrote that this "depends on your point of view". (From the characters wiki page)
Yani Yogi's gun was the weapon used to kill Gregory Edgeworth. When Yani accused Greg of stealing his air and started fighting him, Yani's gun fell out of his holster, which Miles picked up and threw back at the 2 men in order to stop the fighting. The gun discharced the moment all 3 people inside the elevater fell uncontious, hitting Manfred von Karma in the shoulder. Manfred did not have intent to kill Greg ontill he was shot and the doors opened, revealing Greg uncontious inside the elevater. Before Manfred was shot, he was wondering the halls of the court aimlessly, because he recieved a penalty. After he was shot, Manfred became super angry and so picked up Yani's gun after putting on some gloves and shot Greg with it. When Phoenix pressed the metal detector against Manfred's shoulder, Manfred admitted that he was shot, but that he was shot by a diffrent gun due to him handeling evidence in correctly. Manfred then argued that so long Phoenix can't prove that the bullet came out of Yani's gun that he can't be the murderer. However, thanks to Maya snatching the bullet that was found in Greg's heart away from Manfred as she was being tazed, Phoenix was able to prove that the bullet in Manfred's shoulder and the bullet in Greg's heart came from Yani's gun, which resulted in Manfred confessing to the crime. I mean, the reason why he wrote that note instucting Yani on how to kill Robert Hammond and to frame Miles for the crime was to manipulate Miles into believing that he killed Greg and to guilt-trip him into confessing in order fully secure immunity for DL-6 as the statue of limmitation were about to expire and with Miles confessing right before that happened would've resulted in everyone believing Manfred was un-involved.
If you want to understand the pun name Behind “Godot” It’s a cleverly taken apart name from DieGO ArmanDO! Also, I’d love to see you talk about the Apollo Justice Trilogy next if you want to continue the series.

@@frozenduck23
OBJECTION!
And thats what caused him to lose
If he used a different gun Phoneix wouldn't be able prove he killed Gregory Edgeworth
We need a sequel explaining the Apollo trilogy 🥹
Also, if you can and like them, playing and explaining the Monkey Island series or the Kyle Hyde games would be awesome
the "whatever this thing is called" is called a cravat :)
OBJECTION! It’s actually called a jabot :)
It's called the pompous neck napkin
Despite what Edgeworth himself says, it's actually a jabot
Further objection. . . .it's actually some unholy combination of both a cravat And a jabot. Edgeworth how much did you pay to have that custom made
I just want to clarify that the real reason why Phoenix wants to become a lawyer is because suddenly he read in the news that Edgeworth is a prosecutor attorney.
Oh shit the game where you talk to ghosts with wind powers let’s go
It is!
On an unrelated note, this was created by the same person as Ghost Trick!
Thanks i'm glad you enjoyed the video!
10:05 This is so accurate though. You could see the most obvious contradictory evidence and then the game will be "Lol no. Wrong dialogue choice that shows Harry Anous is lying about seeing Kellen Broadlite kill that guy. Electric chair :D"
1:26 to be fair the man actually didn't decide to commit murder till after he was shot then found unconscious people and a loaded gun.
Thank you for adding Big headed Pearl 9:34 😂😂
The duality of ace attorney and splatoon, both have big headed characters named pear
The real "Herr Forehead" but female
Very good chronological summary of the story! You absolutely nailed it and the animations are on point. The hard “t” at the end of Godot is killing me though…😩
Your videos normally help me cope with my anxiety lol. I really like watching them just explaining my favorite games to help distract me from my actual life. Thanks for uploading!!
Thanks! Im glad i can help in any way
5:06 "Miaworth isn't real, it can't hurt you!"
Miaworth:
11:35 GODOT's pun/name comes from dieGO armanDO, the T is just cause funny reverse of what he loves (tea), at least, that's what I think
It makes sense.
I'm glad you found a way to include footage of Javi "iHeartJustice" Shenanigoon absolutely beating ass with Phoenix Wright in Mahvel
10:48 To be fair to Phoenix here, Miles basically left a suicide note.
13:55 yes your honour, phoenix wright is way above human. He can be run over by a car and the only consequence is that he will have twisted his foot
14:00 I mean… in Apollo Justice, Phoenix literally gets hit by a car, flies 30 feet in the air, hits his head on a pole, and walked it off like nothing happened. Even Apollo was shocked by this, but then Trucy’s like “I dunno, my dad’s always been built like that”
Objection, this video is great.
Thanks!
1:01 and who apparently also squished his son's eyes
14:07 YOOOO IS THAT IHEART JUSTICE PLAYING MVC3 AT EVO!!!!!
I fell down into the rabbit hole of watching his highlight videos once i discovered that Phoenix was in a fighting game. Its so funny seeing Nick throw hands and how all of his animations are references to the games is really cool
A bravely default summery would be fire to be honest, your videos are amazing man, keep it up
15:58 it gets even weirder because for like 50% of the case we assume Iris is Iris but is actually Maya being possessed by Dahlia who as a backup wanted to have Maya freeze to death, and didn't realize Iris and Maya switched places so she wasn't possessing her twin sister but Maya all along?
Godot is the name of a programming platform. Also, if you splice his name and twirl it around, it can also mean "to god."
0:16 no,I don't think I will
Man I was planning to type a MvC3 joke and you beat me to it IN THE VIDEO. Great vid you bastard
Haha, thanks!
Ever wonder if Maya really DID commit all of those murders, and other people just confessed instead because they were so moved by how determined Phoenix was to reach a "Not Guilty"?
All joking aside, 2-4 might be my favorite case. Best way to raise stakes and make a Guilty verdict a good thing!
random chase kip upload on one of my favorite series?! im all for it.
2:00 HOLD IT! I just realized a plot hole! Quite the literal plot hole at that. When the gun miss fired and shot Von Karma, it made a hole, so how is it possible that they passed out due to oxygen if there was an open hole in the elevator!
they ran out of oxygen before enough entered trough the hole
Thanks!
16:27 Yep there's no mistaking it, this is a Chase Kip video
YOUR HONOR, IT WAS UNNECESSARY FEELINGS I SWEAR
I swear they had at least a bit of chemistry going on there-
fr the artwork in the video is amazingly well done. Most people would've probably just used the pictures from the game itself, but no, this guy went and created ahnd made prictures of every single event of the game. Amazing work.
Godot’s name actually came from Diego Armando. The last two letters from both his first name and last name, with a T at the end.
Dayum ! That was quite the funny summary of the story XD
4:01 Love the detail of the coffee slowly draining. It's the little things.
Chase sounds close to hysteria while explaining the entire Ace Attorney trilogy plot, and I do not blame him. The PW Trilogy is truly wild to the people who think the game is seriously just about lawyers.
My man would freak at the ace attorney chronicles series. They add fireworks when you win a court case
In the last one they just add straight up fire
The joke for Godot's name is a reference to the book "Waiting for Godot" because in the book nobody knows who Godot actually is, and the Godot in the game just showed up someday and nobody knows where he came from.
There's even a line in the Mask⭐DeMask trial saying that there's people who spend their whole lives "waiting" to see Godot.
Never forget that most of the events in the story can be tied back to some dude failing in a cooking competition. (No I’m not joking if you know, you know)
"Town bicycle" is insane!!! 😂
Great video by the way.👍🏾
After xenoblade 1 and 2 you gotta cover 3 too
My mind goes to “godot” being named after waiting for godot, where 2 characters wait the entire book for said person to arrive.
And this is one of the reasons Mia became a lawyer, seeing the unhealthy rivalry Misty and Morgan had, she quit the village has she was scared of seeing the same thing happen to her and Maya.( And btw he was never inspired by Mia he was inspired by Edgeworth as he was studying to be a lawyer even though he was in art school(It’s complicated) but he did think Mia was cool so he came back to her to become her apprentice and help her discover that truth about what happened to her mother)
love the game grumps reference in the thumbnail
"oops! who left this YAOI paddle here?"
The ending with him talking about Phoenix’s sexy stubble and then yelling SUBSCRIBE was so abrupt it made me laugh really hard.
Great video as always.
Thumbnail goes unbelievably hard
Ty!
As someone who has never played the Ace Attorney games, I was not expecting a plot twist 10 seconds into the video.
6:48 im sorry mr kip but why does he have sephiroth wing hair 😭😭
Fact: The small neck accessory Edgeworth uses and Manfried uses is actually a carvat
Omggg his art style changed so much since the last time I saw him😩🪙🌞😼😛
LMFAOO this was entertaining, ur art rly captured the essence of ur script as well
"And leaves the country of Ja-CALIFORNIA!"
You got me so hard with this one. XD. Great vid, mate. Love your stuff.
Edit: Also, dunno if you've played any of the "Tales Of" games, but they seem like they'd be up your alley. Vesperia and Symphonia are my favs.
Thanks, I've heard of the Tales of games but i haven't tried one yet, i gotta put it on my to due list for sure
YESSSS YOU FINALLY DROPPED A NEW VIDEO
Yo-kai watch would honestly be a decent game to cover. Pretty good story across the trillogy.
I still find it crazy that Maya gets arrested every game she happears in person
You should cover Madou Monogatari/Puyo Puyo!
From non canon books written by an ex-empolyee that the western fandom is convinced is canon but they suck and aren't canon (True Madou Monogatari or Shin Madou Monogatari by the way), remakes that add new plot elements so you can't tell which version is canon (the first three games, Arle's story of ARS), a game that is amazing in every way EXCEPT THEY GET THE PERSONALITY OF ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS WRONG (Madou Monogatari (SegaSaturn)), Sega getting the rights and adding mysteries that they do not answer (Amitie's magic hat, is the Crimson Spirit a victim of a prank that sealed him or an evil warlord that deserved it, what is Ecolo)
A multiverse...
Its a wild ride! I'd love to see you cover it
It wasn't just ANY raging river! It was a river that only one person has ever survived jumping into before, at extremely cold temperature!
You gotta love the inconsistency in the adaptation of characters names
Luke Atmey : Look At me
Phoenix Wright : rises from the ashes like a Phoenix, as well as wright for right
Godot : "Godot" originates from the Samuel Beckett play Waiting for Godot.
Since you already made videos on XC1 and XC2, and video on XC3 would be fire imo
4:32 "town bicycle dahlia"
i mean you are not wrong but.... bro 🗿
you know it's a good day when Chase Kip uploads! who needs upload schedules when you have pleasant surprises like this!!
9:40 Awkward Zombie's comic Guilty Until Proven Guilty.
Nice of you to release this conveniently timed recap right before the Ace Attorney Investigations collection comes out. Great work!
Thanks!
5:57 Not to mention both killers using The Thinker wore purple.
He's the man behind the slaughter!
Your art style keep improving, keep on the good job ! I have been following since the Mother series video.
Thanks for sticking around with me!
10:41
"J- *C A L I F O R N I A* "
Great vid, m8. I love your content, and I would love to see you covering the lore of Soma, or maybe one of the DS MegaMans. Love u.
Thanks!
Hes back!
I am!
6:38 Ah yes, the good ol' "Counter-Blackmail the Blackmailer from Beyond the Grave" technique!
Gets em' every time!
7:05 I need this as a sticker
Its funny because i just got a comment saying that Godot is a reference to the name of a play so I dont know what to believe anymore
@@ChaseKip it's both
Finally, someone documented the 1st Trilogy.
The video looks well-done. No wonder your past videos has millions of views.
