The cars are junk, half the reason I watched f1 was because of the cars and their exotic designs and high revs, I haven't watched since they went to V6 turbos. my mini van has a V6, hardly impressive. V10s that rev up 19,000 RPMs now that's impressive. The racing is a little more competitive today but the cars are so damn unimpressive. Might as well watch Indy car. You think they could combine some of todays technology with some of yesterdays technology to make an ultimate machine. I'd like to see them go back to refueling too, it adds a little more drama in the pits and you can shorten the cars so they're not as long as a limo.

I wonder how much quicker he would have been on full slicks instead of the silly grooved tyres the FIA made teams run. If I remember rightly this was the wonderful BMW V10 engine that revved to 20,000 rpm and they had qualifying engines, which only just lasted for the qualifying. The race engine was fitted in overnight for the race next day. Wonderful decedent racing. Montoya was great and did not take any crap especially from Mr Schumacher. Perhaps not the best driver but very good and a joy to watch. He took a completely new line at Monaco which I believe he won.

At least the drivers drive the cars now compared to the computerized shit they drove 10 years ago. Traction control, launch control, computer controlled engine braking. Less driver skill was required back then. Halfway through a corner they could just floor the pedal. And at the starts they just had to hang on and let the car sort it out.

    •  8 років тому +70

+George Day Dude, I think this is bullshit. These cars didn't have DRS. Say what you want, but to me DRS doesn't count as "car speed". take away the DRS and let's see how many seconds 2015 cars are slower.
