I think Mike is giving us the type of music he and Tom actually wanted to play but did the "make sure it was radio savvy" I'm blown away by how damned groovy this band is
People ask why, after a certain point in his career (basically after the two Wilburys albums), Petty had Campbell co-produce everything he did. This is why.
Great Mike. The purest rock and roll! You are in the history of the biggest names in rock. Come to Brazil. I'm your fan, I would love to be able to go to a show. Hugs.
EXCELLENT Song MIKE CAMPBELL and The Dirty Knobs.Man Ya'l are just FANTASTIC. Cannot Wait to see YA'LL LIVE.Love this Song and Many, many others.ABSOLUTELY PHENOMANAL..!!!! Walter B.Memphis. ☝️👍🎙🎸🌟🎼💯
I've been listening to a lot of Dirty Knobs lately. In my exploration of all things Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, I got the sense the Tom was somewhat in awe of Mike. I can see why. Mike Campbell is amazing.
The Dirty Knobs just have a really great sound. Their sound is unique it’s rock-n-roll I also hear rockabilly music. I like the band because they seem committed and they all as musicians seem like they enjoy they’re gigs. And they are a very ,very talented band and Mike Campbell is an excellent front man. Mike’ Campbell ‘s voice is really rockin” it’s a good voice for this band.. it’s his own voice .🙄🥰
Fir me Mike Campbell is a great American song writer and an impeccable musician! This song and video to me really says who he is as a musician! It’s a killer song and performance and I love the energy Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs give to this song.🥰
This is a great song, I love it, a great rocking tune. Well done Mike and the Dirty Knobs on performing this song, I think Tom would love this version you've all done.
So good, guys!!! This song makes me feel like we're comin' back, out of the pandemic, near to a new normal!! It's so upbeat! Love you, Mike. From Kris in Oregon. 💖💖🎸💖💖
This song is one of countless reasons why Mike Campbell will always be my guitar hero! His unique style was what first attracted me to music when I was a young kid. Looking forward to seeing my hero next year at the Troubadour!
I felt like a real guitarist when I first figured out how to play this - I still do - i recognize the song! If I had an amplifier too I’d play along 👍🏻🇮🇪🎸
Awesome and added to my playlist. Out of curiosity, how did you guys come up with the name, Dirty Knobs? I only ask as a lot of things come to mind with that phrase. Lol 😎✌❤
I'm going to say it's a reference to the tone and volume knobs on electric guitars and amplifiers. If the connection from the power going through the amp to the knobs isn't clean, the instrument doesn't sound right coming out of the amp. Knob is also a euphemism for penis. So, there's that too.
I think a comment was made when the band was created..years ago..that it referred to the kni s on an amplifier. Plus it sounded totally nasty. Like Mudcrutch. ..who would name a band that?
WOW!!!! Love hearing you guys doing these awesome underappreciated tracks!!! There’s soooo many good ones, but wondering if you would consider doing these? Keep up the great work Out in the cold The damage you’ve done Supernatural radio
Dare I say it, but Mike and the Dirty Knobs' version of this song may be better than Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's verson. I wish I could find a CD with Tom Petty and the The Heartbreakers' live version of Makin Some Noise!
I personally have been so engaged in watching the news lately that I do feel this heaviness and melancholy that I normally do not because I hardly ever watch the news. And through these images of war my heart goes out to the the People Of Ukraine and the soldiers in these difficult times. My band and I produced an instrumental song in Chicago last week to pay tribute the Ukrainian People, and indirectly, I think in doing so, it has drawn me into following this war more closely because we are getting a lot of comments from Ukrainians who are directly affected by it. If you click on the icon it will take you to our channel if you would like to listen to it. I sort of feel that art and music, etc. play a part in helping people to reflect inward and possibly as a collective become more engaged in a more peaceful frame of mind and way to react. Thanks for listening - if you do - it sounds somewhat like Pink Floyd and Michael Kiwanuka.
There's way more of a pleasant tone and dynamics to Tom's voice than Mike but he's a very talented dude in the vein. He should've stayed away from this song unless I could sing it for him
Please dont stop making noise!!
My IV cannot run out. Let it keep feeding me that beautiful noise!!!!
Mike is much like Alex Lifeson, he KNOWS PRECISELY where and when, nuff said
You rock Mike 🎸 I’ve seen ya live 7 times in the past. Even though I’m just a fan,I actually cried when Tom left us. Keep the spirit alive
I picture Tom smiling listening to his brother Mike carrying the torch.
Beautiful blog. I agree.🧚🏻♂️🎸✌️
Brothers from different mothers.
I think Mike is giving us the type of music he and Tom actually wanted to play but did the "make sure it was radio savvy" I'm blown away by how damned groovy this band is

Fantastic
Always enjoy hearing Mike play slide guitar.
Mike has just taken off where Tom left off and sounds like great rock and roll continues. Thanks Mike and The Dirty Knobs. Sounds GREAT!

People ask why, after a certain point in his career (basically after the two Wilburys albums), Petty had Campbell co-produce everything he did. This is why.

Didn't really know he sang, great guitarist and great voice

If feel the need for speed. Maybe some day to Savannah Georgia.
Lots of venues to play. I'll be there.
This is a great song, I love it, a great rocking tune. Well done Mike and the Dirty Knobs on performing this song, I think Tom would love this version you've all done.
Nice work on this song. Loving the sound of the band!
Far out! Love it! Rock on! Rock on! Rock on!!!
One of my favorite TP&H songs. Nice to hear it.

Finally !!!!!
Killer tune, dig that ending with the main lick and drums
This song is one of countless reasons why Mike Campbell will always be my guitar hero! His unique style was what first attracted me to music when I was a young kid. Looking forward to seeing my hero next year at the Troubadour!
Oh, I love it!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
F-yeah!!
And here we go Running Down a Dream.
Here's a hoping we'd soon be dancing at the Zombie Zoo, if you know what I mean😎🎸🎵
Really enjoyed this cover , the knobs rule
I Concur!! They are the bees knees!!
Damn that tone
Yes you guys are too freakin cool! Love to you Sir Campbell and Tom forever
Badass sound Mike! ❤
I love it!! 🎼💘🎸
Nice riffs, beautiful voice Mike! let me be your support act!
Next best thing to the Heartbreakers
Fantastic!!!! Amazing!!!
Gret voice !!!! Great band !!! 👏👏👏
I hope you will still do some soft ballads once in a while mike...maybe a whole album of them.. ??
Drums are on fucking point!!! Beautiful
You boys are drowning out them wonderful vocals and lyrics
Looks to be mic skill/technique. Mike often turns away from the mic, which muffles his vocals.
I felt like a real guitarist when I first figured out how to play this - I still do - i recognize the song! If I had an amplifier too I’d play along 👍🏻🇮🇪🎸
Absolutely beautiful!!
I wish you come touring germany 🥰❤❤
Great Mike. All the best from Bavaria
Love it! ♥️♥️♥️
Awesome! One of my favorite Heartbreakers songs.
Good version
This song is the BEST ! Its total BADASS! Mike Campbell is such an incredible guitar genius! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊

eyo! lotsa love from a teenaged fan over here!! sounds great! I've been covering Heartbreakers songs lately too lol
Great performance!! But can you please mic up the cowbell it's barely audible
He sounds so much like Tom Petty.
Can some PLEASE listen to Marty Stuart's "Time to Dance" and get back to me?
Is that Senator Cruz from Texas on guitar, on my right ?
Why cant dirty knobs play or record mikes version of boys of summer.
Dare I say it, but Mike and the Dirty Knobs' version of this song may be better than Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's verson. I wish I could find a CD with Tom Petty and the The Heartbreakers' live version of Makin Some Noise!

Mike channels Tom. Better than Lennon/Mcartney.
There's way more of a pleasant tone and dynamics to Tom's voice than Mike but he's a very talented dude in the vein. He should've stayed away from this song unless I could sing it for him
His voice is just fine with this song
Remember he is not Tom Petty.
