You can get the ford performance intake from LMR i think they were a recent addition to the site… like within the past few months recent. They finally made the coolant passage for the heater core metal. Only took them over 20 years 😂
Yeah but those new re-issued Ford intakes are still made by Dorman, they're an improvement over the regular old Dorman intakes but they still lose about 10 Horsepower and lb-ft of torque compared to the OEM. That's still better than the 20 to 25hp loss by the regular old Dorman intakes. A nice happy medium.
This is a great video @Socoolds455 Thank you! I still have my old oem intake kickin around in my shed and they coolant passages defintely look crusty, crumbly, and decayed like the one you repaired in the video. I managed to source myself a new OEM intake which I installed on the car about 6 months ago, but at least now I know I can repair and put my old intake back to good use if the new one ever fails lol! This is a great tutorial, I feel confident I can manage to do this repair to mine as well.
I've known people that have had the heater core hose plastic nipple on the back passenger side of that intake fail and blow off. The coolant crossover is just a 50% fix. I've seen some people put a copper pipe sleeve in that, but at the same time that constricts flow narrowing that passage.
Yeah, I've seen the thread in a copper fitting trick too, I was lucky enough to find one with a good nipple. I don't expect it to last forever, just long enough until I go to trick flow heads and intake...
Yup that’s the exact repair I did when the heater hose nipple snapped off, lasted 2k miles. Now I’m on the search for a OEM PI ford intake not the new revised one. I’ll wait the whole winter if I have to👍🏽
I have to do this to my Lincoln. I paid 258 dollars for the Autotecnica. It has the metal inserts for the coil screws, the damn weather has been to cold to do anything. I wish I had ur garage
I been looking at thease intake's for a long time and i wonder if you can hack saw the font part off (What you were fixing) and smooth out with a file. Then take the aluminum cross over and bolt it direct to the engine. Can use a flat gasket or rv or both.
I have the Doorman for now and it drives fine but for power I will be getting the ford one later on when I have money but the doorman works fine just horsepower lost but the car still drives people watch all these videos and make people worry
Well, this is a performance oriented channel, I stated in the video that the Dorman is fine for your average daily driver commuter car. You notice the difference in a performance application.
Do you really need the plastic tabs for the aluminum cross over? It seems to be an unnecessary sandwich. Could you not just cut off the two plastic tabs and just make a gasket to place between the cross over and the block? And then find some spacers to make up the gap difference on the alternator bolts?

Glad I could help!
Great video brother! I’m saving this for when I have to fix mine or when I go to junkyard 🤝🏼
Does Edelbrock or professional products make an alluminum intake for non improved heads

More videos about your car please, very entertaining, I want the same for my police interceptor.

I just seen a video on UA-cam on the LMR channel that Ford started making the intakes again.
They're decent, an improvement on the Dorman design, but still a 10hp loss over the OG PI design unfortunately...
@ yeah I seen the results but I found me one of the OG intakes
You can eliminate those whole front tabs on the intake and bolt the aluminum crossover directly to the heads..
I ordered a intake from 1A Auto for my lincoln
Possibly have a link to the gaskets
Mahle part # GS33745, available at multiple retailers.

Yes you can!!
Ford should make an all alluminum intake non- improved replacement. They could make up $ for law suits!!!!!!

Yes you can delete them..
Mustang intake
Ford or FRAUD should be brought before Congress. 😅
Wow, what a crap design.
