    So cool to see in this condition. My dad had the exact exterior. I believe he had a ‘83 and sold it in 1990. It was the coolest car to all my classmates when my dad picked me up. Love to see cruising videos with this bad boy. 👍

    Awesome videos. Wish i was in Arizona. I got an all original '83 Camaro crossfire willed to me thats been stored and untouched since '92. Lets just say it has a few issues and no one here (Northwoods of WI) that knows anything about this car and I'm not really a mechanic. All ur crossfire vids are awesome. I wish you had more. I would actually pay for videos like you've posted or to get walk throughs on issues. My biggest issue now is it stumbles right at 1000rpm. Doesn't matter if im driving or sitting in park. It only does it at 1000rpm though. Thinking maybe its the ecm.

    What a great video! I just picked up an 82 CE vette. Had a few TPI cars years ago, this is my first crossfire. I still have a 10.1 454 with LS-5 heads and a custom Clay smith roller cam in my truck that’s carb’s but I am really looking at seeing what I can do with this cross fire vette. It runs great now but I want to see what I can do to improve it while still keeping it stocking and respectable. Your vid’s are extremely insightful and very well done. Hats off to you sir.

    Joe, great video, again, I'am catching up on some of your older videos. How do you think the 8746 ecm would work on my 82 vette? I have a EBL, but I could never get it working right. I like the idea of plug and play, I'm not at all a big computer guy. Thanks again

      No valves are going to be burned. The Chrysler ELB cars of the 70s/80s ran leaner than 16:1. The 8746 is leaner in open loop. During closed loop operation, a stoich 14.7:1 is still maintained.

      No problem! Glad they helped. I would consider making a harness for the IAT. I would have to make them per request though. I don’t know how much of a demand there would be for them to justify making a lot of them right off the bat.

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Рік тому

      Yes. As I stated in my videos, an 8746 will work in an L83 car, provided you have an L05 PROM. It would be easier for you to find a 7747 out of an L05 truck or van.

    Hey Joe great channel. Love the TA and your no nonsense approach. I my self have an 82 vette that is stressing my brain. I have been having fuel problems for a little while now. I can crank the car cold and it runs fine. I can drive around town or just a little drive to my buddy's house with no issues. When I turn the car off, it won't crank. No fuel is going to the injectors. After 30 min or so it will eventually crank back up. Is this a ecm problem or prom? Don't even know how to get the prom flashed. The GM dealership says they don't even have the old technology to do it anymore. Your thoughts would be helpful.

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Рік тому

      When you say it won’t crank, the starter isn’t doing anything? No click from the solenoid? Or is the starter dragging and cranking slowly?

    • @marcusdouget7710
      @marcusdouget7710 Рік тому

      No it turns over just fine, but I have no fuel going to the throttle bodies. From a cold start I get fuel and it runs fine. After I shut it off and try to recrank... nothing.

      It will work without the IAT sensor if you use a 7747 ECM. The 8746 requires an IAT or it will throw the light. The two ECMs are interchangeable otherwise.

      Sure thing. I will tell you right off the bat though the 5055 ECM is long out of production, and no aftermarket companies reman them. That’s why the 7747/8746 is the way to go, and HUNDREDS cheaper than an EBL/HAM.
      The part number for the IAT is 21091001 and is made by Walker. It comes with a new pigtail as well. One sensor wire goes to ground, and the other wire goes to pin C12 on the 32-pin connector on the 8746.
