    I enjoyed watching the video. On your a/c not venting properly, I actually repaired mine on my own in 1982 for my 1980. At that time, I owned the 1980 California Vette, which came with the 305 motor. The 1980 was the first year for California emissions came standard, in California cars only. The car had sensors connected to a computer then, which would set off the check engine light. Typically the O2 sensor. Mine the wire actually got disconnected somehow, took me a long time to find it, and actually I didn’t find it. A mechanic was doing some work on it at the dealership, Don Mealy Chevrolet in Orlando, and he asked me if I had an issue with my check engine light staying on, and I said, yes, and he said he saw that the oxygen sensor wire was disconnected or would touch intermittently, and for months it would come on and off until he found the loose wire. But back to the air conditioning, venting improperly, I forget the name of the part, but it’s where all the little hoses connect to it, under the AC control, he had to replace that little rubber part under that control mechanism where all the hoses connect to, and that should fix your issue on your air vents. I fixed that on my own car back in 1982, it works off a vacuum and that part goes bad after a while. It’s been so long ago. I don’t remember what I paid for it, but it was an easy repair for me back in 1982 I basically switched the part out with the new part, and it fixed my issue with the venting. It was a common problem with that part. I noticed on your Vette, your lights stay up, do you like it that way better ?

      I think my a/c vents are now working properly, but I need to have the system recharged. And the exhaust a previous owner installed needs to be replaced, so I will check the O2 sensor. However, the check engine light is no longer on after the factory Quadrajet carb was professionally rebuilt. The headlights were up because the fiberglass piece behind them had delaminated. I fixed that so it's no longer an issue. Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻

    OUTSTANDING!!! Has been great to watch the videos over the past few months and seeing the meticulous care you have put into this Corvette. A lot of good reference material to look back on as well. If I didn't have my 76, I would be 1st in line. Whoever does purchase will be very fortunate... CHEERS!!

    Another great video showing the quality of your work and it's results on this beautiful 81 Corvette. I would think this would be a huge bonus to the future owner having the ability to view the videos all the work that has been performed on this Corvette.

    Hello from Germany
    I have been the proud owner of a '80 Corvette since December 23.
    I think it's really great to see your videos and you've helped me a lot. In this video you can see that the check engine light is on. do you know why??
    Greetings Karl🙂

    • @76vette
      @76vette  4 місяці тому

      I think the carburetor the previous owner had installed was causing that issue. With the rebuilt original carb that does not happen. Or it hasn’t happened yet. Time will tell. 😊👍🏻

    Another great video! I’m not ready for the 81 series to come to an end. I can’t wait to get mine on the road again soon. How long at a time do you leave your car up on the QuickJack? I’m always leery leaving mine up even though it would make things a lot easier

    • @76vette
      @76vette  4 місяці тому

      I have several more videos scheduled and planned. Since the QuickJack uses mechanical locks instead of hydraulic pressure to keep the vehicle up, I don’t worry about it being up for an extended period of time. I’ve no idea how long each stretch of time the 81 was up on the lift, but I’m guessing at least a couple of weeks. You can always use jack stands as an added safety precaution. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

    • @michaelriley3110
      @michaelriley3110 4 місяці тому +1

      Not so much worried about the QuickJack itself or safety but the car being up and possible stress on suspension, especially on the backend

    • @76vette
      @76vette  4 місяці тому

      @@michaelriley3110 Ah. Many years ago, my dad used to store some of his vehicles on jack stands for months on end so the tires wouldn’t develop flat spots. I don’t think it affected either frames or suspensions. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @michaelriley3110
      @michaelriley3110 4 місяці тому +1

      Alright thank you. Maybe I won’t worry about that so much then 😉 at least not for it to sit up a couple of days

    I just bought a 1980 last month, and I'm very excited about it, and of course it needs some TLC. One thing I'm really interested in are the lifts you are using. Where might I find such a thing? Thank you!

      I have owned a QuickJack portable lift for a few years now, and hands-down it’s one of the best investments for the DIY mechanic IMO. For more info visit their website, www.quickjack.com 😊👍🏻

    Hi.....I'm curious as to why the rear of this 81 sits so high. Was anything added to the rear suspension? None of my C-3's (Two 80's and a 81) didn't ride that high. Thanks!
