This tree is in great hands by the Master Surgeon: Dr. Saunders.
If Nigel planted every cutting that he rooted, Ontario would be the amazon by now😂 Thanks for the gr8 Video Nigel!
So true lol!
Happy Birthday Nigel! 🌳🌲🌱🌴🌵🌾🌿☘🍁🍂🍃🌻
Nigel "Big Cut" Saunders.... Any day is Ficus fun day! You got some great loot! Awesome show Nigel!
I've been waiting to see this tree featured in your videos all year.. happy to finally see it great job Nigel and as always great content. Following this tree over the years and seeing it's progression has been awesome thanks Nigel for making these videos and teaching us.
Every day could be a ficus Friday with Nigel, like every Sunday should be mothers day 😊
Nicely pruned, can't wait to see what this tree looks like in a year!
💚💚💚
What great birthday gifts!!!
Those cuttings are already set to be fantastic trees
I'm reading the World of Ficus right now.
I won't spoil the ending then!
Love the drama on these big cuts!
Trees looking in good in the updates!
What wonderful people to send you those gifts. 🎈 Birthday
all those ficus are really loving that green house. they all look fantastic! ty nigel for sharing.
Happy birthday Nigel🥳🥳🥳
this tree has come so far! i remember that horrible wrapping root you had to get rid of and at the time i wondered if the tree would even survive. guess i shouldn't have underestimated a ficus in the right hands. :P
Drastic changes for this ficus Nigel but I do think the tree look much better now!
Amazing. You seem very young in mind. The book is amazing and Jerry is an awsome guy. Humble and very Quick to answer any questions you have about the book If you contact him.
34:41 I'd love to see an update on your eucalyptus. You're in a climate much like mine and I was wondering how you approached caring for it over winter. I'd like to get one myself but I'm not sure how practical it is in our sort of climate
Oh boy, the Rumphii has been cut. 😂😂🤓
My BF offered me the exact same tools kit and I’m more than happy to work with them, that was a game changer for someone like me, passionate but tool-less!
I love this ficus, such a nice nebari!
Wow Nigel! Good for you! I think the sentiment is that a Master of bonsai should have a master set of tools!
Nice job! looks much better!
Cheers,
Chris
Awesome gifts Nigel! Happy birthday 🎂
Those are nice tools
Glad that you got so many present with all the work you're putting into the channel! 💚
so many fantastic ficuses
Thanks!!
Hooray Ficus Friday Sunday! LOL Loved seeing the goodies from your viewers. The idea of putting the Buddha's head with a ficus growing around it is very unique. Yes, you did do some major "surgery" on that Too Little Leaf Ficus. Nice trip to the greenhouse to see the ficus. Always like your ficus religiosa (Wonder if that lower branch would revert to a "banyan branch" if you trimmed the tip and put it in the ground under the tree). The Avatar tree is FANTISTIC! (A neighbor brought some eucalyptus seeds from Colombia. We've planted some and have noticed one sprout so far.)
Happy Birthday🎂
I'll take ficus Friday any day☺️ I had a willow leaf jump in my basket recently. I'll have to look at your archive. Very nice birthday haul!!
Great video. Pruning turned out perfect! 35:22 lolol this killed me! You said you didn't want themes on specific days, I'm assuming this is why haha
Big steps forward for this tree. It will be interesting to see it develop over the next few years.
My partner got me the same tools last Christmas which was my first ever set of Bonsai tools. They've served me well this year but I am so pleased you have them to now Nigel, I can feel more like the master of Bonsai now although I do lack the Bonsai expertise and knowledge that you have 🤣
Difficult tree, I think. I am looking forward how it will develop!
Aww sorry to hear about ur Plumeria. Just yesterday i was thinking about it. When u started ur Plumeria i also started 3. And was planning keep copying what u do with it. But sad urs didn't survive. Though mine r still surviving and growing. 😃 Seems like Plumeria like the environment of our part of the world
Wonderful !
Throughly enjoyed your showing us your beautiful trees. I. Definitely will subscribe. Watching you be seemingly nervous about cutting a branch. I was about biting my nails enjoy growing. And thank you for sharing
Great video. Thanks nigel! Maybe do a ground layer on that "vierd" branch on the regliosa? And develop some long roots and make them into to "air roots" i forgot what its called silly me 🤣
I said the same thing when I was there the other day Christopher!
@@BlueJayBonsai Big brains think alike 🤣👍
Happy birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 🎂
Thanks Suresh!!
Thanks!
I gotta admit Nigel, you look great for 60. If I hadn’t known I would’ve thought you were in your late 40’s perhaps.
Wow, thanks!!
Nice work on the too little ficus Nigel! I think I will make mine windswept as you suggested, next time I work on it. 🐦💙 Those are not roots on the Bengalensis - they are alien tentacles! 👽👾🛸🐙
Lovely gifts 🎁 💕 unfortunately i think my parcel to you must have been lost in the ether 😞
Hey Nigel, I hate to be contradictory as it seems rude. As a past toolmaker I can say that modern stainless is often harder than carbon steel with better wear resistance. As a result they can be harder to sharpen creating the illusion that they don't hold an edge. (Stainless with high carbon and high chromium create very high carbides, some stainless is low carbon.)
Yes I've experienced this also. I've noticed this on my fabric scissors. My old pair from fourty years ago was easy to sharpen, my new pair is a nightmare to sharpen
I'm not sure rootmaker pots work like they are supposed to on a tree that likes to form aerial roots and in a high humidity greeenhouse. ;-)
Enjoyed the video as always, thanks Nigel. Just a thought about the hanging branch on the religiosa- it would probably take root if you kept it on the soil? Depends on whether that would appeal to you :)
A good possibility!! I'll have to come up with a plan for the branch! Thanks Smath!
How to send you pictures of my Plumeria bonsai ? From a cutting I did it !! Had flowers 🌳💕
Which Ficus species would you grow on that Buddha head?
I have same head with Ficus on it ]]]] What a world . I ll send you foto
Wondering why your little leaf ficus isn't bleeding white milk profusely like my tree does when I take the tiniest little branch off?
What you are doing with lot of rubber trees
You got a link to the tools you got from Scott? Need some big stainless tools👍
I found them on evilbay 🤣 Just ordered a kit.
Ficus Funday?
👌👌👌👌👌👌
as I watch you doing major work on this Ficus I can't help but feel anxiety over the painfully slow growth that takes place over winter. and I find myself asking will it sprout new buds where you hope it will or will you have to wait until next summer in hopes of new vigorous growth?
Birthday august 5th?...so is mine.
Good day. Tell me, please, I want to buy a young Ficus benjamina "Too Little", but on the Internet I cannot find a site where it is sold.
I am in another country, so Google search does not show stores from other countries. Could you write a web page of stores that sell Ficus benjamina "Too Little"? thank you.
I don't believe you can buy a plant and then have it shipped over seas. Try "Miami Tropical"?
@@TheBonsaiZone This is especially true throughout most of Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Very strict rules.
Why is my ficus losing its leaves, I saved it one e now it’s doing it again . CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE
Some leaf drop is normal and not to worry. If you have a LOT of it then it's likely either a watering problem, a temperature problem or a light problem. If kept indoors it's most likely a light problem
👍👌🙂
