Eskom spent R65bn on diesel over five years - Gordhan

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has told parliament that
Eskom has spent a cumulative R65 billion on diesel over the last five
years. Eskom has been using diesel as it fights to keep the lights on
to minimise load shedding. Energy analyst Clyde Mallinson weighs in.

We are paying for the diesel used by ESKOM, nevermind the loss of electronic and house hold items because of over and under voltage problems. Generators are meant for emergency only, not sustainable!

More businesses have closed the past 12 month's/more solar and alternative means to keep residential lights on. They burning diesel like crazy to keep the lights on. The coal fleet is tired (exhausted) - cannot be sustainable and its operating at 58% i think?
