I read the word, every day, morning, and evening prayer. One major hurdle I had to overcome was my thinking that I wasn't hurting anyone. Once I realized that my thinking was wrong, and that by viewing the videos, I was an accomplice to the porn industry; it made resisting it a little easier. But I also had to put on the full armor of God.
Go with God and be safe from evil.
Update. As of 05/21/24, I have not succumbed to the temptation. I might have this whooped.

Yes the men and women made the choice to take part in the industry. And in doing so, they are robbing themselves. It all starts at the strip club. Is my abstinence from porn going to make a difference, probably not, but I have over 40yrs of being a willing consumer of the filth. I started at 16 and I am 56 now. For many years porn consumed me.

I was convicted by the Holy Spirit and haven't watched porn for almost a year now. It's much harder to stop it from replaying in my mind. I want to get to where it doesn't even enter my mind anymore. Lust has long term effects not just physically, but mentally as well.

@@dmlx4209 You can't do it by yourself, no. The Holy Spirit has to work through you. It won't take the urge away, but it will give you the strength you need. It doesn't happen overnight. Just keep praying for deliverance and don't give up.

Yesterday I relapsed, God knows. It’s been 3 years already fighting to quit porn. The more I fight it the harder the fall is, and it’s all my doing. Years and years of consuming, and these last 3 years of fighting lead me onto developing very, very immoral and disgusting fetishes. I pray to God that he gives me strength and wisdom to overcome myself in Him. It’s the only way; cursed is the man who puts his faith on his own strength. Brothers & sisters, for real, do not dare to trust yourself. Human flaws can’t be overcomed by human means.

Building good habits and renewing your mind as the Bible says is key. I've come to realize it's important to memorize scriptures regarding God's promises and speak to them in our prayers. I've been dealing with the same issue, but involving pornography. I've backsliding further than I have in yrs. past, because of entertaining images from long ago.
When that thought comes just start doing something to take your mind of it like when the thought comes start exercising or go play a game or go for a walk or something that will just make you forget about the lust because your focused doing something else so in time the thinking will just start disappearing got to also have faith in God it starts with God first!

I have been in the darkness with out-of-control lust. I have done things which I am not proud of. It became addictive and I would act out daily. I would get the buzz of the chase. I would get a hit off the orgasm and then go into a deep downer and the only way I knew was to repeat the cycle. I am now celibate through choice and feel so much better and cleaner. If it’s coming and flowing from your heart (Holy Spirit) to repeat then do so! It’s all about love when praying and letting the words flow as you feel. What they say in the Bible about repetition is more so Don’t fill in empty words with repetition… like if you don’t know what to say …then just pause, don’t keep repeating what you’ve already said just to continuing praying. Really needed to hear this. Been really struggling with this sin for very long time. I pray for strength and wisdom to overcome this and my eyes just keep dragging me back to lust and also thinking of lustful things. Some nights I pray God would take my eyes away to not see anymore.
Try doing this also: you kan quiet down and "kill" lust and sin (Col 3:5, Rom 8:3). You need to "crucify the flesh" (Gal 5:24) by saying "I crucify lust and all other flesh." Then you command fear, bad memories and other flesh to be quiet and ask God to give you strength. Command your flesh to be quiet like this until you have peace.
Pray for a great outpouring of MY SPIRIT to come during this time! Pray against the plans of the wicked, that they would not advance but be snuffed out! Pray against the spirit of Haman, and that they would fall into their own nets that were meant for MY people.

In order for Christ’s power to work in us we must be in submission to Him, even when we are weak. When we are weak, we are allowing ourselves to humbly depend on a God who is able to align our will to His. It is an opportunity for us to participate in the divine plans God has for the world.
Yeshua, I pray for the strength and discipline for all those who follow you, including myself, or those who want to follow you to be able to tame our mind, bodies and eyes. Help this be so, so that we don't fall out of favor and from out from under our protection from you.

2. Rather than fight the temptation, do not put yourself nor allow yourself to be in the tempting position in the first place. Evade. Run. Flee.

I needed this. Ive been slipping and even though subconsciously i knew i needed God to put this in my feed so i can remember how to be strong in this and sometimes thats knowing to run away from what you cant fight with will.
I think I always knew that God was the only way to stop my sex addiction

The ultimate cure is finally listening to the Holy Spirit and realizing exactly what you have been doing and how your life has been outside of the Lord’s blessing. Nothing worked for me until I was literally shaken to the core by the Holy Spirit
This may sound odd but I am struggling with this with the woman I’m married to. She committed adultery with the same man many times. I asked her to move out and we separated, I filed for divorce. Since I filed I learned that she stole from me as well. I know she is not the kind of people I should be around. She knows my sexual desires very well and continues to use them against me. It has worked a couple of times. I justified it by telling myself she is my wife. But the truth is I know her motivation yet I was allowing it to work because of those two things. I put myself in bad situations and I allowed my eyes to lust for her. I replied to her flirtatious texts in the middle of the night. I looked at naked pics of her she sent me.
Until this divorce is completed I must be stronger than that. I must pray and I must not put myself in compromising situations. I must not allow my eyes to list for her. Her motivation to reconcile is not because she loves me but purely because she misses the lifestyle she once lived.
She continues to talk to this man, she works with him and she lust for him.
Please mighty God give me the strength to remove myself for these situations.

It's always funny with these realisations because you find out your struggles and inner turmoil's are all down to your own antics and habits. No more fighting with Lust, my eyes are to be taken so seriously and I should not gaze upon anything carelessly. Though I've started today I must say, life is quite different now... But I want to Love the Lord to the best of my ability so this sacrifice is fine with me!

Hi Matthew, prayer alone can not change things....you have to be willing to change some things in your life for deliverance to come.
Faith without works is death....I got free when I do away with evil company, I mean everything that triggers lust, pornography etc.
I had to delete some contacts from my phone, left Facebook, Twitter etc.... do away with secular music and replaced them with spiritual songs, mind the movie I see, books, and even the company I keep... from people who say vulgar things to people who say things that edifies me...the list goes on and on.... and most importantly, I start reading my Bible, alot..... filling my inside with God's word and as I do this it fight the thought and urges when they come.
These are practical ways.....to overcome....You must change something, something must give way else...You will keep being under bondage for years and nothing will happen because you are not taking any practical steps to change.
This is SO TRUE. Been weak.

Been struggling with this addiction for over 10 years. Everytime I fail, it hurts more everytime. I’m tired of failing god. I pray for forgiveness my sins and my wrongdoing, and I pray that Jesus will come into my life and help me overcome this evil desire that I can’t remove on my own and break away the chains that have been holding me down for so long, I PRAY THIS IN JESUS NAME, AMEN🙏
my own spouse, who considers himself a Christian loves to justify cheating and pornography by blaming the woman. he will say things like "well if she doesn't put out who can blame the man for looking somewhere else!" or "they close their legs when they want to punish you!"
i've told him multiple times that if you do something stupid or cruel or heartless you shouldn't be surprised if a woman closes her legs.
he also has a porn obsession. he doesn't consider it a bad thing. totally normal. at first i didn't care. i was wrapped up in the same mindset he was in (that part about the company you keep is true!) but then i was born again and suddenly saw it for the poison it was. i tried to talk to him about it. he wouldn't hear it. he became cold, became more obsessed with porn. became very crude and disrespectful of ME - i don't like being groped or grabbed in a dirty way, i don't like being leered at and drooled over and i don't like dirty talk. i never have (he knew all of that about me when we met).... he thinks those things are funny and complimentary. but they turn me right off and make me want to LEAVE. it's not "LOVING" behavior. he doesn't want to work at gaining true love and affection.
and you know what? all these years later, after being born again i realize our relationship was NOT built on love. it was built on LUST. I want to work together, create and build things together that will last. i want to work together to raise our sons to be kind and respectful, strong and intelligent.
but i find myself doing it alone. when i say these things he literally turns his back on me and walks away. accuses me of nagging at him.
I feel like i am in a deep well with no escape because at this point divorce would also be a sin. right? i don't know. i want to leave, that is for sure. i want a home where i am not pawed at and fondled when what i really need is a simple hug (those never happen btw.) i want to move forward in life and reach my actual potential. i am too old to have babies, i am middle aged, unattractive and moody. sex is not even on the list of my priorities anymore! it seems to be the only thing on his list.
i have no intention of ever remarrying btw.... he cured me of that!! just like i have been cured of my own lust. i have the right kind of friends. i am pretty good at resisting the devil now or fleeing things i am told to flee. right now i want to flee... it is so hard to find reasons to stay with him. the only ones i can come up with ... i like my home. we are financially stable. yeah that's about it.....
but he has become something i don't know how to deal with. he refuses to go with us to church. stays home and watches porn instead. he refuses to spend time with his kids doing meaningful things. prefers to play on his phone or watch tv instead. and when he's "in the mood" it's just gross and repulsive. i always feel like i am a poor substitute for what he REALLY wants. and i feel that way because he spends more time ogling naked women than he does talking to me - when we do talk it always turns into an argument.
these days i just avoid him unless we HAVE to do things together. like pay taxes or discuss the family budget. even our kids find ways to avoid him. he doesn't realize his behavior has pushed people away. when i tried to tell him he blames THEM for not accepting or respecting him. "i'm not gonna change!" i can no longer talk to him about any of this because he gets angry, defensive, brings up MY past behavior (all the things i used to do but stopped doing.... yeah that's his weapon of choice.)
so please pray for this man. i am TIRED.... frustrated and fed up. i am ashamed and embarrassed to be with him in public. Angry and disappointed in my younger self for being so blind and stupid. but, hopefully our kids will see this mess we've created and learn how to avoid it.
Your husband looking at porn is adultery and you don't have to tired yourself out! The Lord made a way for me to get out of my marriage with my ex because he also looked at porn. Which I didn't find out til after we were married. I was on the brink of killing myself because I couldn't take it anymore! So we got divorced and I now have a better and getting better everyday a relationship with Jesus Christ! My ex also said he was a Christian doesn't mean he wasn't one but he wasn't going to change and took porn over me. Porn is cheating just like sexting or flirting with someone is cheating! Don't stay where your not wanted! You deserve better! You deserve the plans God has for you! When someone has an addiction that person has to be the one to realize they have an addiction!
Youre not alone. Trust me I think so many men have been warped by porn or twisted ideas that the wife owes them sex no matter what. Separation isnt a sin if you live chastely( cant control what he does).
I dont really have advice except to pray and dont keep arguing with him, dont be a part of the sin as much as you can avoid it.
