In Brazil, going to the cinema is expensive, but the law guarantees that you can bring your own food, which is why many people buy snacks in other stores and just buy a ticket at the cinema

It is fine to bring your own food in the UK as well, despite people thinking you're not allowed lol. Most don't bring their own food in reality but you can.

    • @Joao-pb4ep
      @Joao-pb4ep 2 місяці тому +7

In theory you right, this is considered tied selling, but in practice it's not that simple. Most of cinemas will stop you and say "you cannot enter here" and refuse to elaborate further, in reality they can't, they and you know that. But the point is to make you waste your time and resources finding someone to be accountable for that, and in the end they could say some other shit. And as long as they don't say the actual reason (not being able to get inside with food from other places, which would be an illegal reason) they are not liable (as far as I can tell they are, but it's harder to legally prove it was because of food, but I'm not really sure if you wouldn't be able to sue them, but for everyday routine this is really a fucking waste of your time and no one will do that).
In the end people just "smuggle" the food inside bags and eat inside, because it's faster and won't give you a headache from the discussion, mainly when you are late and the movie is about to start.
      :/ People suck.

@@Joao-pb4ep I've never had this problem. I try to go to the movies once every 2 months or so, even if I go to different theaters (I've been to 4 places this year). I always bring food in my hand without hiding it and they've never stopped me.
I think this may change depending on your city.

Brazil and Apple has a really long history of overpricing for many reasons. It's shameful actually, people choosing get in debt for years just for having a IPhone, I'm talking about 24, sometimes even 60 installments.

I got lucky when had to switch the worn battery from the iPAD PRO 10.5, now in 2024. Since Apple didn't have one, they sent me a brand new IPP, with the M4 chip (also 256 GB wifi + cel) from 2024 (yep, it's the latest model). I only spent 232 USD for the replacement, in the iPlace store. If I had to buy this new iPAD, instead, I would pay right now 2363 USD if I use Apple's official website. In the best scenario, I would pay at least close to 2000 USD from local sellers. That's crazy expensive, considering the minimum wage here is less than 267 USD. A regular person would have to save for 1-2 years to buy one of these devices. Perhaps even more, if we are talking about more expensive models, or the iPhone. And that is if such person pays in installments, not in full.

Agree, except services and food are also not cheap, because these too have a lot of taxes. They may not be as expensive compared to other countries, merely because we are food producers. Also just comparing dollar price is not really the most accurate representation to compare prices, because the dollar value in relation to e.g. the reference salary is different in each country.

Sorry for being boring, but as someone from Nokia's home country 🇫🇮 (our national pride, kind of), I'd summarize Nokia's story as follows. Nokia Corporation was founded in 1967 and it produced rubber boots and tyres. In 1988, it split into Nokian Tyres (in the top 10 in the world) and Nokia Corporation with the latter switching their focus on the mobile technology (the boots' section has continued on their own too).
Nokia Corp partnered with Microsoft in 2011 to use Windows as the operating system, but that flopped and they sold their mobile business to Microsoft in 2013. The deal prohibited Nokia from making their own phones.
In 2016, HMD Global (founded by Nokia's former employees) purchased the Nokia branded feature phone business from Microsoft, while Nokia Corporation and HMD signed a licencing deal for the smartphone and devices business. However, that deal has come to an end in 2024, so from this summer/autumn on the manufacturer HMD no longer makes the Nokia branded smartphones, tablets, TVs, or other Nokia branded home electronics (apart from the basic feature phones); they'll carry HMD's brand instead from now moving forward.
Nowadays, Nokia Corporation itself produces the telecommunications infrastructure, but it has started to struggle recently, despite striking deals with the 🇺🇸 US government.
I have a Nokia T20 tablet (Android) myself and its Nokia app changed its name to HMD this spring. I assume they call it a HMD T20 now which is ridiculous in my opinion, and I don't see them having success under that name. 🙄
I'm not a fan of that club (I cheer for 🇪🇸 Atlético), but a few days ago 🇪🇸 FC Barcelona even announced a partnership with HMD, so they are trying though.

Ana did not explain the phone thing correctly about brazil. Basically in Brazil is still very common to see IPhones, however not the latest ones, people still buy old Iphones such as the IPhone 8, 9, 10. Other than IPhones we have lots of samsung, motorola, and xiaomi. Most of the times, we do not buy the latest phone since it could cost up to 10 minimum wages. So here is very common to have low-cost phones that have less features and quality. Normally an average price phone here would cost 150-200 dollars.

Ana, not only very rich people buy 2k Iphones here in Brazil. As they are perceived as luxury itens, lots of people with less money make a huge effort to buy one so they can get a sense of belonging within some peers. Usually these people makes 500 dolars a month, and they pay these iphones in 12 to 24 installments.

Some parts of the video concerning Brazil need clarification. It's not accurate to say that "most people don't even earn minimum wage". Actually, the average wage is about twice the minimum, though it's still low. But it's worth noting that Brazil's got a much bigger informal economy than European countries, so a lot of what people make is from informal work and doesn't show up in the official stats. Another important point to mention is the huge gap between different parts of Brazil, especially between the north and south. The south is the wealthiest, and in many ways, it's not much different from southern Europe when considering indicators like the Human Development Index (HDI) and purchasing power parity (PPP). While poorer areas up north and in parts of the centre-south are still behind the national average, rich neighbourhoods in São Paulo and some cities in the south have HDI and PPP that match some of the wealthiest regions in Europe, including Scandinavia, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.

Brazil has a lot of abusive taxes, and $1 it's R$6 (brazillian money), so it's 6 times more expensive for brazillians.
Besides, minimum wage is much lower than oder countries.
For example: the iPhone costs $2000, but in the local currency it's 2000 x 6= R$12000. The minimum wage in Brazil is R$1400 per month, so you have to work 9 months to buy an iPhone. It's insane!

I don't know where Ana is from but saying that most Brazilians don't even make minimum wage is completely out of the box.
The national Minimum wage is the very lowest that you'll be paid for full hours. Then there's the regional Wage depending on the state (which is higher than the National) and finally you have the wage according to your class if work.
I never met anyone thar actually gets paid the national minimum wage salary.
