Child's Play is a 1988 horror film (directed by Tom Holland and written by Don Mancini) about a criminal named Charles Lee Ray (played by Brad Dourif) who is able to transfer his soul and consciousness into a doll (a "Good Guy" doll). This movie was followed by several sequels: Child's Play 2 (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017). In 2019, there was a reboot of this movie also titled Child's Play (in which Mark Hamill did the voice of Chucky). Then in 2021, a TV series called Chucky began (on both SyFy and USA Network).

The first movies made it clear that Charles Lee Ray was based in the city of Chicago, Illionois. But the series is not only set in Hackensack, New Jersey, but has also revealed that Charles Lee Ray grew up in Hackensack, NJ, before moving to Chicago. In October of 2022, I decided to explore Chucky's town of Hackensack. For me, the most interesting thing I saw there was a street called Clinton Place, where almost every house had an amazing Halloween displays (including different themes such as the Wizard of Oz, the Addams Family, the Nightmare Before Christmas, killer clowns, zombies, witches, Hocus Pocus, and even the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters). I also really enjoyed Johnson Park on River Street. Please watch this video to see for the town for yourself!

I have lived in Hackensack for 10 years and have been aware of the Chucky connection since Bride in ‘98. This video made me aware of Clinton place and I will check it out this year. Amazing I have never seen it as I DoorDash in town.

Grew up in hackensack, Clinton place is a staple in everybody’s childhood there. One of the Best places to go trick or treating growing up. As far as the lack of Chucky decorations, I think that comes with the lack of awareness of the setting of Chucky. It’s not decorated as so because I’m sure most of the residents aren’t aware that they’re town is the setting of Chucky. The hackensack medical center is taking over the whole town as one of the best hospitals in the US. they keep buying people out so that’s what the city’s most known for.
Do you still live there? I would have thought word would have spread about the Chucky show there.
I'm glad to hear hackensack medical center is doing great. I guess Chucky's surviving victims have a good hospital to go to

I grew up in the 90s in the town across the river from Hackensack. That street was ALWAYS a big spot for Halloween decorations. We used to drive by the houses every year or so. I feel like they also did it for Christmas, but they were DEFINITELY the street to go see Halloween time. I guess the residents stillckeep up with the tradition.

@Joelikesmoviesnstuff I always enjoyed that aspect of Childs Play although I feel like they never really portrayed the city accurately. It isn't really as suburban as the films/tv show show it to be, more of a city. Don't get me wrong, there are nice residential that are a bit more suburbs, but overall I felt like they were Moreno showing central/southern NJ
