- On this last episode of Driven to Eat Derek D and I visit Cubbys BBQ in Hackensack NJ, really solid pick for BBQ regardless of where you come from. Series never really took off on the channel so this might be the last episode but I do enjoy highlighting my favorite spots so, maybe i'll kick it back up in the future. Thanks for watching!

From Memphis TN now in GA for 45 years so I have BBQ sause in my veins. Used to work for a company in Paterson NJ and ate in N Jersey a lot. Please don't stop this series. There are so many great places to eat close to you. Have you tried Virgil's BBQ just off Time Square?

You should try Big Pinks BBQ in Bridgewater, NJ. It’s an ugly food truck that makes the best bbq I’ve ever had.

It’s not a good idea to cook ribs until the meat falls off the bone. That texture indicates the meat is over cooked and dry

If you're in St Louis you need to hit up pappys smokehouse for their ribs. You have to get there when they open though since they do run out.

Have to mix the Mac and cheese with the mild chili. Unless you're feeling froggy, then get the spicy chili. That and a full pulled pork, it's a meal big enough for 4.

I go way back with Cubby's. Back in the day they'd have the local car club come by and it looked like you stepped back to the 50's.
When they first started they were just a hotdog place. I see the dogs are still as good as I remember them. A few years later they introduced the BBQ and that took off. One thing that was mentioned earlier is the costs make it a once in awhile experience. Though when I do I Soo enjoy it. Great video guys.

Foods great! Not a big fan of the steak options due to price/flavor. The sandwiches are my go to. Some how I’ve never tried the ribs x_x. I’m the type of guy to order a burger at a seafood resturant, so then again not super surprising lol.

The sad thing is, a pulled pork sandwich from buc-ee's in Texas is probably better. I say that being a hater of BBQ in Texas, even in Texas there is only a small % that get it right.

Buce-ee's is not a gas station, it's a destination my friend, and if you haven't tried it you're not adding much to the conversation.

Cubby's was ok back when there was zero BBQ in NJ. After Mighty Quinn's came and all the other people doing Central Texas BBQ, Cubby's became irrelevant. People only go there now because they've "always gone there." So many better BBQ places now - Mighty Quinn's, Carlito's, red white and que, Fink's (your hometown Rob!), kimchi smoke.
Food is awful and way too expensive. Coming from the south this was a huge disappointment! If you know better don’t go. It’s not real BBQ.
