You have very solid content. No flashy garbage. Not a very big channel, but let’s face it , it’s often the smaller channels that give the best info. I’ve always though also that the BSS was kinda overrated and the range of motion is super limited. This version makes much sense, and you explained it very well. Thanks!
I did these last year during the lockdown because all I had were 8kg kettlebells and I added a pause at the bottom which was effective because it kept me in the 15-20 rep range. Crazy enough now that the gyms are open I’m doing them now because they are that effective along with leg press and belt squats
Thank you! And I very much agree. I veeeerry seldom ever program a rear foot elevated split squat for any of my clients, but this one can be applied to a much wider training population.
Yep , this is a superior single leg squat variation and much harder than the Bulgarian split squat too, due to extra range of motion. Even doing these with 11 kg dumbbells is pretty challenging for me, and I can do 15+ bodyweight pistols per leg. What would you say is a good level of strength to work towards in this exercise? I can do it with 20 kg dumbbells but it starts to get really tough at that point.
Thank you very much for this helpful video! One question, I keep hearing that to get max glute focus in BSS you should move at a diagonal ie lean forward, but you state that leaning forward should be avoided? Is a deficit BSS moving at a diagonal useful?

Thank you SO much! That's very kind of you to say, and I'm glad that you find the information helpful!
Finally somebody told this...

Excellent! I'm glad that they worked for you! That's a whooooole lot of reps!
Great lift. I like these more than RFESS. The rear leg also has the toe-off component which feels like it carries over more to gait, solid video

I tried this variation. Let me tell you. This sh*t is way harder than other variations. So it's a must .. going to give a go for a while
