Avatar beating SpongeBob in 2008 proves how legendary that show is. It was even able to topple the otherwise unbeatable sponge.
I wonder why Avatar wasn't nominated in 2006 or 2007, also Korra was never nominated not even once!! I feel that the Avatar fandom is the only one that can beat SpongeBob and did that too, the ONLY time that was given the chance to do so. KCA are kind of rigged that way in the favor of SpongeBob.

It always confused me how SpongeBob’s lack in quality from the past years didn’t break his streak (aside from when Aang told him “My turn”). when Nickelodeon gives you the ability to vote for each category online, I always assume that SpongeBob isn’t going to win it, at least not easily, because the same people who are voting are the people who will occasionally dog on the show’s lack of quality throughout the past few years. In all honesty, this doesn’t anger me, because most of the time, SpongeBob competition doesn’t really hold a candle to him, and while I will treasure the show forever, feels like another show should take the trophy home with them

Season one of spongebob aired from 1999 into 2000. It just barely manages to squeeze into the 90s cartoon category.

Both used to be funny, clever, and at times touching in their early days.
Now, they're both a shell of themselves, and have gotten bland, forgettable, and the humor is more forced

I suppose it IS worth noting that prior to 2003, it was Rugrats that kept winning the award, and that show was Nick's biggest show BEFORE SpongeBob. With that in mind, I think it all just depends on what Nickelodeon's most beloved show is. And considering how SpongeBob is only getting bigger and bigger... yeah, I think they may need to give SpongeBob a lifetime achievement award of sorts every year so that other shows can have a chance. That's just how I feel though.
Also, I love that they're becoming self-aware of the fact that SpongeBob almost always winds the favorite cartoon award. Like, good lord.
Yeah no it's rigged. You can't tell me that Avatar only one ONCE, and almost no other shows like Gravity Falls and Adventure Time have gotten to SEE a blimp and say that it was a fair vote.
It's also possible that the majority of the kids who WOULD vote for those don't watch nickelodeon and/or don't pay attention to the kids choice awards. I know full well that I voted spongy boy each year until I just lost interest

They WERE pissed. So much that in 2009, they outright canceled Avatar:The Last Airbender. Just imagine a year if My Little Pony Friendship is Magic were nominated and won. The interaction between Twilight and SpongeBob would be like when Sideshow Bob won his award, and he and Krusty called each other names, until Bob was given a sedative.

Don’t get me wrong, SpongeBob is definitely my favorite show of all time alongside DBZ but by this point, I think they need to start excluding him from the competition if he’s just gonna win every year to give other shows a chance to win and instead give him his own category of some sorts.

Fun fact about Avatar, the person who voiced Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen) also voiced Pablo from The Backyardigans (In all of Season 1, he was replaced with Jake Goldberg in Season's 2-4, for the remainder of the series).

Who remembers when Ed Edd Eddy and Kim Possible had their chance at the 2003 and 2005 KCA. I still love spongebob to this day, but we have to give credit for Disney and CN for stepping their game back in the early 2010’s as Gravity Falls and Adventure time was close of winning the award but last time I check they actually had the most votes because I too voted for two of those shows back then when they also had competition.

For special matters SpongeBob SquarePants has won 20 blimp awards and he surpassed and beat out almost every cartoon series with the most episodes except he lost to avatar in the KCAs 2008 but his winning streak kept on going. The long-running Rugrats cartoon won 6 blimp awards which was great but the cartoon series Rugrats got dethroned by the new long-running cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants and it won 20 blimp awards which is excellent and he became the most iconic Nickelodeon character and hero ever. Rugrats will always hold a special place in people's hearts and a special place in my heart as well and it will always live on. Congratulations to you SpongeBob SquarePants and popularity and winning streak!

Idk if this is true, but I heard a rumor that Alex Hirsch was in attendance for the awards in 2016, and was informed that Gravity Falls had received the most votes, and yet the win still went to Spongebob.
Considering what network Gravity Falls aired on, it wouldn't surprise me if this is actually true.

To be fair, Avatar was truly in a league of it's own at the time it aired and really stood out against the other cartoons, including SpongeBob, in regards to it's storytelling and overall execution. Plus, if I remember correctly the KCA happened while season 3 was going on, which was nearing close to the show's end, so there was certainly an increase in hype.
Another thought is that many cartoons pitted against each other might have overlapping fanbases that will have to pick one show over the other. This could lead to a decrease in votes for the candidates, and when going against Spongebob's massive, loyal, and ever growing fanbase that could almost guarentee the sponge another victory.
You know, it did sound like it was rigged just for 2022 all to just promote the series, but then again they have re-aired episodes from the past so I wouldn't agree that it was rigged. They should make a separate award or set of awards that only apply to spongebob like favorite character or something incase if they do want to give spongebob a break from earning awards and allow other shows to be able to get favorite cartoon award

Even though I don’t watch the Kids Choice Awards anymore, I do give congrats to SpongeBob winning like usual. Whether the award show is rigged or not, SpongeBob is just that famous of a character currently going on.
Honestly, doesn’t it sound pretty odd to how SpongeBob wins Favorite Cartoon all the time, but not any of his movies? Like, I heard this year they added Sponge On The Run for Favorite Movie, and it didn’t win. The same goes for Sponge Out of Water in 2016. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the 1st film won a blimp. Which would definitely be a good thing, because that’s the best SpongeBob film by far. And I think some of his games have won blimps too. Such as the original BfBB and CFTKK, I think. Either way, this Sponge will never be stopped, won’t he? I can’t say for sure, but if they added The Legend of Korra for either 2014 or '15, it would’ve probably defeated SpongeBob. Korra was a really good show. Still to this day, I wish it was nominated… Not just to defeat SpongeBob, but to get the love and congrats Avatar got back in the day.

@@RB01.10 Yeah, SpongeBob was in his prime so many years ago. Nowadays, the show is okay, but it doesn’t capture the same feel compared to the first 3/4 seasons + first movie. In a way, the modern seasons are kinda like watching a soft reboot of the show.

You already used this joke, but I also agree SpongeBob winning every year is dumb. You have so many other options that are better than this show (and we have already established that streaming shows are applicable to enter this list). I like SpongeBob, and I'm very thankful for the show improving itself after seasons 6-9, but they could at least improve the nominations (is Alvin and the chipmunks still running on this channel?). It's not like SpongeBob is even trying anyway, the writers and animators were pulled away from this to work on the spinoffs the majority of viewers didn't ask for.

With the most(ly)respect, SpongeBob needs to end. It was great in its early seasons, but NOW it’s mediocre AT BEST! Nickelodeon needs to make more original cartoons on the same level as Gravity Falls and Steven universe if they want to compete (artistically) with Disney, Warner Bros, ect.

Typical. It's like if Cartoon Network had their very own equivalent of the Kids' Choice Awards, and in the 'Favorite Cartoon' category, Teen Titans Go! would've won EVERY. SINGLE. STINKIN'. YEAR! 😠 Let that sink in for a moment or two.
Obviously, SOMEBODY should reach out to Nickelodeon themselves (or someone who works there at the very least), and ask them the 100% definitive reason why SpongeBob keeps winning these blimps.
But, as for me at this point, I've full-on lost faith in these awards because of this sheer level of GREED. 😔
There should be some kind of rule about having a cutoff for number of times one can be nominated for the same award every time, like how there’s a two limit term for being the president.

As much as I love Spongebob, I wish other cartoons could win too.
I feel like at this point, in order to make it more fair, they would have to exclude Spongebob from the Best Cartoon catagory.
Don’t get me wrong, I like that yellow sponge as much as the next person, but what’s the point in nominating other cartoons, what’s the point of this category even existing, if they’re just going to give that award to SpongeBob every year.
They either need to make a new, entirely separate catagory for SpongeBob, or disqualify him from the Best Cartoon catagory for at least a couple of years.

It's impossible for something like that to win so many times in a row (except the Avatar incident)
Plus shows like Adventure time and Gravity falls should have been sure winners
Plus you said if yourself Vail, we only had a few episodes last year's due to The Patrick Star Show and Camp Coral
If anything the winners for this year's should have been either Loud House because of it's Loud House, it's adorable and enjoyable
Or if not Camp Cretaceous, it's expands so much on the Jurrassic Park universe and the characters are just so good, along with the story and animation, especially when it's by freaking DreamWorks!!
