Something people who don't drink a lot of coffee won't realize is that when you do the sneak a cup thing is that the second cup will be much weaker and sometimes watery. It's because most the dissolved solids and almost all the oils will be in the first cup. Either toss a bit more grinds in when you sneak a cup or have patience!
I've had the Cuisinart one for many years and I love it. I love this machine, and think it makes the best coffee when compared to previous brands I had tried. The 1-4 cup brewing option is good when you don't want to make a full pot because it adjusts the brew strength so you are getting just as good a cup as when you brew a full pot. I also like the variable shut off. The bells and whistles on this model are actually things I use, unlike most appliances, where I usually don't go for the extras. You are right about it maybe being a little more difficult to fill, like many coffee makers. The solution I have found is that I have those OXO Good Grip measuring cups that are silicone. I fill the large one with water, then you can kind of squeeze them when pouring, to make the spout as small as you need it to fill almost anything without spilling. I have never spilled when filling my coffeemaker this way. Plus I can pre-measure the water, that way when I fill, so I don't need to see how much I am filling.
I usually just use the measurements on the carafe, possibly adding a half cup to account for evaporation. It depend on the machine how you will need to fill it, but the carafes are usually accurate enough to make a good cup of coffee.
I have the Cuisinart and I fill the carafe, and put the lid back on before I fill the reservoir. If you don't put the lid on, the water isn't properly directed and it will get everywhere.
I have the same Cuisinart he was using in this video & me & my husband love it works great every time plus we love ALL bells & whistles it comes with. Also makes great coffee.. ALL & ALL it's a great coffee maker. I forgot to put the coffee pot lid on & boy did it make a mess where my filter was & was wondering why it was not making coffee than saw the mistake I did lol. I also fill my pot to make around 7 cups & that is how I know my pot will stop don't need window to see water level works great.
For the heating plate, I would argue that a higher temperature is worse as it will “burn” the coffee more and you don’t need coffee to be that hot. You won’t be able to drink it until it has cooled to less than about 145F anyway, so I’d say the 12-cup Mr Coffee won the heating plate test.
Correct! Coffee that stays too long on the heating plate tastes very bitter and the hotter it is, the bitter it gets. MV Donalds coffee is such an example or coffee from school cafeterias.
“Coffee's notes shine between 120°F and 140°F, which is why we prefer this temperature. The subtle flavors noted by the roaster will come out within this range, creating a delightful cup.” - Driftway Coffee … so you’re 100% right lol
With my Black and Decker model. Its very easy to set the clock and timer. Even though its very slow at brewing. It has a timer I can set the night before. So when I get up it will be hot and ready. Its held up nicely and has performed well over the years.
I have this exact Black and Decker coffee maker. I have never had any problems with it. It keeps the coffee at a good temperature. I can set it at night and have hot coffee ready when I get up in the morning.
I am a Mr.Coffee fan. I have had my little 5 cup drip for about 8 years now and it still works great. A simple one button on/off no auto shut off, nothing fancy. Love it, I use it a couple times a day nearly every day.
If you ever want to venture out I highly recommend a Bunn coffee pot. I can make a full pot between three and four minutes. Bunn is the only one that has the water reservoir that holds it at 200° so you never turn the coffee pot off. That way when you’re running late you can get coffee out quite quickly. I have had mine for 12 years and it’s my second one I’ve ever had to buy and I am 52.
@@mommashawna707 And then you actually have 200 degree water pouring over your coffee, just like god intended. 140-170 degree water is not going to produce great coffee.
We've had a Cuisinart for more than 5 years of daily brewing, and it still works perfectly...although I now realize we're a few thousands days past needing a new charcoal filter. My gripe has always been the decanter. Whether filling the reservoir or pouring a cup, you have to do so SLOWLY or liquid pours down the front of the decanter...all over the counter.
I'm so used to the coffee makers here in Hungary. Most of them have a tank on top with a screw on cap and you put the coffee between the tank and the pot and the boiling water goes through it. They don't use paper filters. I would've never thought they're built so different overseas.
@@cbryce9243 he’s talking about a moka pot, they’re Italian and you can buy them from Walmart or target. They make great coffee if you know how to use them
I am not a coffee drinker, but I have one for my family when they come to visit. About 10 years ago, I bought a Cuisinart coffee maker combo with a hot water dispenser. I only use the hot water dispenser. It's still working just fine and I replace the charcoal filters on a regular basis. I feel like some day this machine will fail and then I will want to get something like again, but I haven't seen anything like it on the market. Has anyone seen a hot water dispenser/coffee maker? I know I could just heat up water on the stove, this dispenser is so much handier and it's so fast. Thank you James for another video!!!
@Suebe1962 Some Ninja coffee makers have a hot water dispenser that does not use the same tubes as the ones for the coffee. Thinking it’s the Ninja DualBrew Pro model. Pricey but a great feature
@juliealston1417 Since I posted, I did find the exact one that I got from a discount site that works with Amazon and purchased it as a backup. But thanks anyway.
I had a cuisinart coffeemaker - didn't even last a year. My Mr Coffee replacement (at 25% of the cost of the cuisinart) has been trucking along for almost 5 now.
I would've liked to have seen the clean-ability of each unit. Some coffee makers are a PITA to clean properly, and an easy-to-clean reservoir and basket is pretty important for the lifespan of the unit.
I've been using my Cuisinart 12-cup coffee maker that has a built-in bean grinder, for over 4 years now and I still love it. I can just load the machine with beans the night before, set the timer and by the time I'm heading into the shower the next morning, the grinder kicks on & starts brewing. Exit the shower & I get fresh ground brewed coffee ready to go. I also like that the lid of the carafe comes off entirely so it's actually easier to clean the pot properly though some people may feel otherwise. Taste-wise, I find setting the brew strength to High and using a really dark, black blend of roasted beans that comes from Indonesia or Singapore, gives me the kind of caramel, buttery taste that I really enjoy. Plus it gives me a buzz that lasts me through the entire morning, second only to an espresso. If I drank an entire 12-cup pot of it, I'd probably be able to fly to work.
As one who rarely drinks coffee, that's close to the price range I would buy one for, if my mom hadn't given me hers. I don't need anything fancy, I usually only drink one cup evefy few months. Today was that day and the coffee I had left, I've put in the fridge and will heat it in the microwave a few days later when I want it. Coffee tastes alright, but it makes me sleepy since it's a hot drink, so I reserve it only for days off work.
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
I've had my B&D CM2036S thermal coffee maker for 10 years and it's still going strong! Love the fact it uses a thermal decanter to keep the coffee hot for up to 7 hours without the use of a hotplate, which always burns coffee the longer it sits on the burner.
Good to know. We might have to get one! We have their juicer and it is great too. I like how it takes all the pulp out and all you get is juice. I use the pulp in quick breads. 😍 Breville!
This is the first time I've left a comment. I always watch on my fire TV. Love your reviews! I have watched them for the last two years, and went back and watched ALL of them! Crazy, huh? LOL. Keep up the good work!
The modern one shown here is made cheaper because the hotplate and the brewing part share the same heating element, so no need for individual switches.
I have an older model Chrome Cuisinart Coffee Maker. Like you said it has a small area reservoir but mine has a viewable water level indicator. What I love best that it beeps to let me know when the coffee is ready.
I've owned several versions of the Mr Coffee, including both of the ones you reviewed and the programmable 12cup model. The 12 cup ones make a better cup than the smaller 5 cup every time. However, the size and price make it a huge value model for a secondary machine at the office etc.
i have the cheap mr. coffee, got it over ten years ago and it did come with a reusable basket, the thing about the reusable basket is i feel is a con cause you have to wash it out....which is probably why i still have it after all these years.....i use paper filters cause im to lazy to clean it and if your making the coffee before you go to work it sits there all day
I love my vintage Pyrex percolator that you use on the stove, but on days I have to get up and be out the door early I have an older version of the black and decker shown here and it still works great. I like the automatic start feature for early days.
@@bilbojenkins5276 I have a moka pot and honestly it makes so much better tasting coffee then a drip coffee pot. My parent's don't care so the drip coffee pot is for their.use while the moka pot is solely mine..
@@GittanKitten I bet it makes equally tasting good coffee like my moka pot does💯☕😋 So go you for being authentically yourself with your coffee maker you love using...
Woohoo,I think this is the first time I have a product that got reviewed. I have the Mr. Coffee 12 cup. The lid on mine works perfectly fine, not sure what that was all about. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I will occasionally make some. It's fine. I use it more for making tea, hot cocoa, cold/sinus relief drinks, and oatmeal. For those, it works fantastically. Cleaning is easy, too. I brew like half a pot of apple cider vinegar and then two full pots of cold water. Good as new. Negatives:. If you are very aggressive with removing and jamming back in the pot, you can bend or even knock off the plunger. There is always atleast 2 drips when removing the pot before finished.
James is by far one of my favorite UA-cam review channels. I absolutely love his sense of humor his sarcasm the method in the way he talks. I will watch his videos even if I’m not interested in the product! And as a sidenote, should I ever go to Las Vegas I think he needs a female sidekick every once in a while just to balance everything out 👍🏻😅
@@pennytrui1149 I know all of the time and effort it takes to make these types of videos, so that’s why I will watch them even if I’m not interested in the product just to give him support
I had the Cuisinart for something like 8 years before it started leaking somewhere inside and had to replace it with a similar model. I'm a fan of its features and the adjustable temp. I've used a mr coffee basic model while staying at an airbnb which gets the job done but I still like my cuisinart
Had a Cuisinart a similar length of time that began to leak. Replaced it with another by same brand for those same reasons. If it lasts longer than 5 years, got my money’s worth.
Thanks James! My 10+ year old Black and Decker just died, your timing is impeccable....on a side note, Cuisinart is too hot on high, it will destroy the flavor.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the unbelievable amount of effort you put into your videos. You think of everything! Having been in production for nearly five decades (I've even voiced or edited commercials for some of the products you've tested), I know what a pain it can be to write/direct/shoot/edit your own stuff, and you make it look effortless. Thank you for all you do...I'm a fan for life!
Like your variety of coffee cups - I know people here in New Orleans that fill the grounds to the top. That coffee snarls as it 's poured. Good video. P.S. - my aunt Mona Rouen would put aluminum foil over the spout of her percolator after brewing so the air wouldn't get to the coffee and oxidize.
I've had the B&D coffee maker for quite a while now. I'm very satisfied with it. I wished you included how long the warming element stayed on and when they shut off (automatically). Great video though.
A "pro" in the Cuisinart column I can add is that the one I have was passed down to me from my mother who passed-away in 2009, so it's been in full swing for 13 years under my ownership, and still going strongly. Unfortunately I can't give an accurate assessment as to when she had purchased it, but it definitely has stood the test of time for that $100 purchase.
Just a note to anyone using drip coffee makers.. never use the heating plate or let the coffee sit on an active heating plate when its done - coffee burns - those plates DO burn the coffee, making your coffee vastly inferior. Do yourself a favor and either turn off the plate / machine when the coffee is done or remove the caraf from it. If you need to reheat the coffee later, use a microwave, it is much harder to burn coffee that way and will taste a LOT better.
I personally would go with the Cuisinart. If it truly has an adjustable auto off at 30 min, I would definitely pick it. I don't like my pot to be on any more than 30 min after the brew. I don't need a coffee maker yet, but will soon, and will definitely look at the Cuisinart along with similar options. Thanks for your review. I love this channel. This channel, TTC, and project farm are the best review channels I have found.
I've got a similar version of the B&D and we like it. Mine came with the reusable basket which is nice plus it has a brew later function. The only thing I don't like is it only allows one time for the brew later so we have to set it for weekdays then Friday set it later for weekends. Other than that, it's going strong at over a year now.
For many years I used simple Melitta manul system. Boil water on the stove, pour it over the grounds in a filter in the cone, wait until it finishes dripping, and you've got tastier coffee than any of these machines. Costs less, too. If the coffee in the carafe cools down ... that's why you have a microwave. During the pandemic I got interested in high end coffee - burr grinders, specialty beans, scales, the whole shebang. But ... I still use the same Melitta cone! It can do anything from pre-ground supermarket coffee to $$$$ beans and crazy technique.
Same, I went down the Weird Coffee Person rabbit hole and while I drink a lot more espresso now, when I do pourover it's still with my $1.50 Melitta knockoff I got at Daiso. Of course now it's with a grinder which cost hundreds of times as much.
The one major flaw with all these pots is that the grounds basket is NOT separate from the water reservoir. Which means there will be splashback of coffee and grounds into the water reservoir. Which gunks it up and over time makes your coffee taste nasty. They are really hard to clean as well cause the water reservoirs are very narrow. Always get a pot that separates the grounds basket from the water reservoir.
Just wanted to mention that I have this Cuisinart one since at least 8 years now (or maybe more), I use it on a daily basis and it's still works like new. Of course, the hard-to-read clock is a con but I never rely on my coffee clock in the kitchen since, like everybody, I have easy-to-read clocks on my MW and oven, and it's currently around 75 bucks or so on Amazon
I drink a lot of coffee. My biggest gripe about almost every coffee pot I have ever used is that it dribbles down the pot when you pour it. About 2 years ago I got a Cuisinart coffee maker and this one does not dribble. I love that about it but it only makes 10 cups versus the 12 that I prefer.
My drip style which is a Mainstay from walmart and is programmable i have actually cycles the plate warmer once brewing is done. It cycles on and off for 2 hours then shuts off completely.
My problem with coffee makers is that the heating pad always corrodes from the element underneath and disintegrates over time. To counteract that issue, I bought a Bonavita Connoisseur, which does not have a heating pad, but appears to have tripled in price since I bought mine. I am very happy with it, though.
You should stop using the keep warm feature. That's what really destroys the heating pad. Once you make the pot of coffee turn it off. If you want to reheat a cup do it in the microwave.
@@5argetech56 All the ones I ever owned never had the "keep warm" feature, and I always pour my coffee into a thermal carafe anyway (which the Bonavita comes with). I'm saying that the element corroded with the absolute minimum usage in all cases. At first, I thought it was something I was doing wrong, now I know it is just a flaw in the design of these things. But thank you for trying to help me out. Btw, coffee reheated in the microwave is gross. :)
@@PoofyPuff1 I completely agree with you about microwaving your coffee lol never never never! I do love my Bunn coffee maker, I am 52 and it’s the second one I’ve ever had to buy, I did try to get a couple different ones in between that were returned and I went back to Bunn. My dad was a coffee-holic before it was the thing to do. Lol he only drank coffee and water and he would drink several pots a day, he swore by Bunn and would never even think of a different coffee maker. So when I moved out that’s what I bought and I love it for the main reason is it has a reservoir that holds water at 200° at all times so when you pour in cold water your coffee comes out instantly, there is no waiting I can make a full pot of coffee between three and four minutes and they do have the one that has the carafe, it doesn’t even have a burner on the bottom. I have never owned that one but I have read reviews that rave about it because the burner itself burns your coffee essentially as it sits there. I do believe that’s the one I will go with next whenever mine finally dies. I will be sad when this one goes because I had bought it for my dad and he passed away before he could open it on Christmas 12 years ago so it’s extra special to me, I know it sounds crazy it’s a darn coffee pot but coffee was my dad‘s life and I bought it for him, you know.
@@mommashawna707 I was researching Bunns and the reviews said the new ones are not the same as those old ones! I am also 52 and I have been through more than 2 coffee makers, but hopefully this is the last one I'll ever buy. This one is actually for another member of the household. I make my coffee using a stove-top espresso maker aka "moka pot".
@@PoofyPuff1 first of all how crazy is that that you’re also 52. I am really not into the numbers thing or anything like that by any means I just thought it was crazy. Well hopefully mine will keep on going for many years to come because I like my coffee quick, I really do and that may be because we’ve always had one in the family wherever I’ve lived from my parents house to my house so I’m not used to waiting, call me impatient because I probably am lol My daughter is a barista and she has a Bunn but she also has her fancy machine that cost thousands of dollars at home. She has bought us all of the different kinds of things from French presses to I don’t even know what they’re called, my husband will fool around with them on Sundays but a normal work week we just want it here now. I’m also not a person to get into the fancy drinks I mean I’ll drink a white chocolate mocha but that’s on a very rare occasion. I’ve only done a little research into the new ones of the different kinds and have watched a few blogs and I haven’t heard anything bad except it doesn’t have all the bells and whistle‘s but I’m glad to hear that you have found reviews that have said otherwise because now I will look for them to know which one to avoid at the very least. But who knows there may be different ones that come out until we need one you know. Anyways I hope you have a wonderful day.
You're now the second UA-camr I'm subscribed to who has done a coffee related video today, a day where I happened to drink some coffee as well (I only drink it every few months, for just one or two days, though) 😂
I have a Ninja coffee maker and I like it. It can make a full pot, one cup, large up, or tumbler. It has lasted a lot longer than my other coffee makers.
I have a Ninja too. My favorite thing about it is the removable water tank. We put filtered water from the fridge in it. The cleaning cycle on it is really nice too.
I've had three coffee machines in the last two years. I bought a Hamilton Beach Flex Brew...slowest machine ever! Then got a Keurig...downfall with that one is the filter clogs and you have to buy new ones every couple months and the one cup at a time is a deal breaker. Current coffee maker is a Mr. Coffee 12 cup. This one is faster than the other two and is way easier to clean.
A Bunn coffee maker will make 10 cups in 4 mins. It’s the only one that has a reservoir that holds water at 200° at all times so when you pour cold water in the hot water immediately comes out. My current one is 12 years old and going strong!
i had one of those small mr coffee machines, not the same model, but an older one and i was really happy with it. it was a good size for me since i live alone
Love coffee, but making a full pot is a waste for me. Ended up getting a Bunn My Cafe MCU single serve machine and just love it! It's pricey though. Enjoyed your review thank you for posting.
Bunn is the only way to go! My dad loved his coffee like no other, he only drank coffee and water so he would have several pots a day and he’s swore by Bunn. So of course that was the first coffee maker I bought when I moved out of the house. I am 52 and we are on our second one that we have had for 12 years now. I do think I will go with the one that has the carafe next time because everything I’m reading is saying that the burner is actually bad, it continues to cook your coffee and ruin it whereas the one with the big carafe doesn’t have a burner. It may be more money but they last so in time you are saving a ton.
DLX1050B is my coffee maker and I absolutely love it. It works, makes good coffee quickly, and the timer is invaluable. One day I'll have a coffee maker that connects directly to my water line so I never have to fill the water again, but until then, this coffee maker is cheap and amazing.
I switched to an AeroPress and a kettle two years ago, and I have never looked back. I also got a very nice burr grinder, a hand crank one, and between that and the AeroPress, I have made the best coffee I have ever made.
Another pros for the Cuisinart is that is has a long life. We have the same model which we purchased 7 years ago and have had no issues at all with it.
We’ve used the cuisinart every day since 2017. We’ve alway been really happy with it. We set the heating plate on medium day one and have never changed it. I really LOVE the reusable mesh filter, I cannot say how awesome it is to not have to use a paper filter every day.
I'm quite happy with my Mr. Coffee programmable which was also about $30.00 USD. I don't find the cooler holding temperature of the Mr. Coffee to be a con. With 185° coffee you have to wait a few minutes to start sipping it anyway. Is the same genius who put clocks on coffee makers the same one who put wheels on suitcases?
My all time coffee maker is the B & D Thermal pot. If something went wrong with it there was an outlet very close to me and would replace an item for free. Best ever IMO!! Thanks for the reviews and your time. Anyone that is on YT knows about the scams. ☺☺
Usually I'm amused at the products you review, which usually aren't for me (except the awesome dog videos!). This however is up my alley! Another solid review. Could you do some tea makers as well?
My coffee maker is a bit old now... It's a Rival 12-cup and is white. It has the water level window on the side It didn't come with a metal mesh filter tray, but I did get one long ago that fits real nice in it. No special displays or setting or timers. Just an Off/On switch on the front bottom that lights up when ON. So it's a simple maker for 12 cups. And that's all I need anyway, although it would be nice to have the feature to set an amount of time for it to auto shut off. Or to set a specific time of day/night on the clock would be better for me. Then I can have it go off when it's bed time or if I have a time set I'm going out.
My old Rival Maker (12 cups) has a pretty good heating plate for being old. It keeps a good temperature in the pot and if I leave it off for the night with coffee in the pot and turn it on in the morning, it doesn't really take too long to reheat the coffee, considering it is old. Even if the pot is at the 11 cups over night, it's not too bad of reheating time. If I were someone having a time limit (in a real hurry) for reheating the coffee on it, it wouldn't be a great amount of time for the reheat. But I don't have to worry about going somewhere so soon after waking up, etc, so for me the reheat time is alright on mine.
I love coffee and the best maker is the Ninja! Hands down, the flavor of the coffee is superb! The model I have does both hot and cold brews plus brews different types of teas. Teas brew at different temperatures and the ninja adjusts to each type.
National Coffee Assoc says the perfect water temp for brewing is between 195°F and 205°F, which none of these approach. They are even way way further below that temp for the first cups. But, if it tastes good, I guess that is where the rubber meets the road.
Very very few very expensive drip machines approach proper brewing temp. If I want a hot properly brewed cup of coffee I use a French press. Even for my daily though drip is to cool for me so I use a percolator.
I have a similar Cuisinart model to the one you reviewed - interestingly, mine has a very readable clock - and the one plus that it has over the others is that you can set the auto-shutoff up to 4 hours. (and, of course, it can be set to auto-start in the morning, etc) - yup, it was expensive, but it's solidly built and looks very nice on the counter.
We do have a Mr Coffee for brewing 8-10 cups of coffee. Used daily when I worked/commuted. Now, mostly use the Keurig. I make my lattes and such using Gevalias 2step frothing method. DH gets various coffee pods. Currently has a Guy Fiero container of mixed pods that he’s been using. No coffee after 10AM. Depending on weather and mood or f I’m sick, I’ll opt for no caffeine drinks, or decaf blends that I’ve heard has caffeine but in much lower dose. Some faves: Twinings English or other herbal tea mix and I also like the Alpine hot apple cider. Quick and easy peasy to make.
I like that the Cuisinart has a temperature setting. Maybe if they had that on the single serve version I wouldn't have switched it for a Keurig. I need it to stay hot after I add the creamer or it feels like I left it sitting too long.
I've got a Walmart mainstays brand. 5 cup almost identical to the 20 dollar Mr coffee. But it was only 10 bucks. No auto shut off. Reg. Filters. You can pour a cup while it's still brewing. Works great. Also have the 20 dollar mainstays k cup and it works great as well.
Also use the $10 Walmart machine and it does just great for my needs. Simple, fast, cheap, and the coffee it makes is good as far as I am concerned. It also makes just the right amount of coffee for me. I do not need to brew 8 or 12 cups and end up throwing most of it down the drain because it never got used. Four or five cups is perfect. If I don't end up drinking all of it, not a huge loss.
One thing I can't find out looking at the product pages is are the pots glass or plastic? The 3 cheap ones seem to have plastic looking pots. That alone will affect the taste of the coffee for some people.
I just bought the $10 Mainstay one from Walmart. Works pretty good for a little 5 cup pot. I've had a keurig but refilling the little cup got old and the pods are too expensive.
We had the Cuisinart one. It lasted about 6 months. I ran a clean cycle and it didn’t survive the process. I ended up running to Walmart for cheap Mr Coffee. It lasted about a year and a half. We now have the Keurig Duo. Absolutely love it. Will never Buy another Mr Coffee or Cuisinart again.
You should try the Breville thermal carafe coffee maker. Has several settings to select from, brews fast, and the carafe keeps the coffee hot most of the day. I despise glass carafes with hot plates which start burning the coffee very quickly. If you're not a fast drinker, having a thermal carafe that really holds the temperature is a big deal.
A timer and heating plate are features I used all the time. So I would set the timer and fill the machine the night before so I had hot coffee waiting for me in the morning. My partner loves coffee so if she was living with me I'd have to buy a coffee machine!
As far as temp goes, I'd rather be able to down my first morning coffee as opposed to having to wait a longer time for it to cool to a suitable temperature. Just my opinion though. To each their own.
1 thing we look for in purchasing a coffee pot maker is the rust resistant heater pad. I had to throw away 3+ before getting wise to the idea that there even was such a feature. I like my $10, 5 cup coffee pot. It works very well. Has no timer but I tend to make coffee at least a day ahead of time because of the summer. Maybe in the fall/winter might switch back to hot coffee. You're awesome keep making awesome videos. Been watching for awhile now & it's neat to see you with your twins & pets.
The Cuisinart has several other adjustments, like temp control of the water and how fast the water is sent through the grounds. These are fairly hidden, even secret, button combinations.
We had the cusinart for a good 6-9 years now. My dad had it for years before he passed away in 2017 and my brother has had it since. It's always worked really well. I have the Mrs Tea since I hate coffee and love tea. I wish they'd bring that machine back. I love mine to bits and will be super upset if/when it dies.
It's expensive, but the Breville Precision Brewer Coffee Maker is the best on the market. I've had it for about 5 years now, and with a good grinder it makes great coffee. Most coffee makers are very simple, with a heating element which forces water to rise to the top and drip down onto the coffee. The issue with this method is the temperature of the water is usually too low (and variable) for a good extraction. When he does the "Pause and serve" and get 140 degree coffee, that's a huge red flag that the water is not being dispensed at the right temperature. There are other issues with cheap drip makers, like the hot plate, and the uneven distribution of the water dripping. These things make a big difference in the end result. Although the biggest upgrade anyone can make to their setup is grinding fresh beans. Getting a decent grinder and a $20 pot would produce better coffee than any pre-ground bean in the best coffee maker. I suspect this is why these reviews find all of the coffee to be about the same quality.
This may seem like a weird take, but hear me out on this: I actually think that the temperature and brew pause of the 12 cup Mr Coffee can actually be seen as a big positive. First, I'm someone who likes a good warm cup of Joe, but when it's too hot, I feel like I'm waiting forever for it to be a nice drinkable temperature without having to take little sips. So, a cooler machine might actually be a pro for a coffee drinker like myself. Also, while the temperature is low, the consistency from that first cup to that second is amazing. You know what you'll be getting everytime you grab a cup. It won't suddenly be 20 degrees hotter and more difficult to drink right away because of it. You can go straight from cup 1 to cup 2 via the pause feature and it would feel nice and consistent.
My husband and I couldn't help noticing the number of scoops of coffee you used. No matter the coffee maker, we have never used that much coffee. You must like some serious strong brew! Whew!
After my last Keurig died, I went back to drip. I have the B&D and it's a great little machine. Even has a "strong" brew setting. Being programmable and waking up to a pot of coffee is really the best tho.

@@davidgerow Me too! So used to it.
When we sneak a cup, we are mostly just trying to hog all the caffeine. Not all the flavor. Thanks for the tip!
Used to really bother me when people did this at work!!!!!
You taught me something today; I never considered the consequences of sneaking a cup.😂
YES!!!! Thank you!
1000 thumbs up!
The subtle flavors noted by the roaster will come out within this range, creating a delightful cup.” - Driftway Coffee
… so you’re 100% right lol
Brewing too fast also doesn’t extract the coffee’s true flavors fully so coffee can taste ‘not right’ if you use ones that brew too fast.
That's my only complaint with my Mr Coffee. I have to turn at off as soon as it finishes brewing so it doesn't burn the coffee.
Heating plates make the coffee taste worse in general. An insulated carafe is much better.
While I'm no coffee drinker, my family is a big Mr.Coffee fan as well, it's about as simple as you can get, and it just works like its supposed to.
I agree. I'm single and that is the perfect size for me. I've used mine once a day for years! 🥰
@@Joenzinator Curious was Jesus a coffee drinker as well? ; )
I like how they have not change the design on it yet they been using the same one since 2004
@@charliemartin-k7m If it ain't broke, don't fix it, even if there are gripes with the design.
I'm so used to the coffee makers here in Hungary. Most of them have a tank on top with a screw on cap and you put the coffee between the tank and the pot and the boiling water goes through it. They don't use paper filters.
I would've never thought they're built so different overseas.

Always such a professional and so detailed!!! One of many reasons why I love this channel
I must say, the target coffee maker is my favourite. Removable filter. Easy water gauge. Programmable. And was always hot. Sold for about $15-20.
The $10 coffee maker at Walmart is likewise exactly what I need and it makes good coffee. I am sure there are better machines but this is all I need.
Coffee reviews..? what dad joke do I insert here?

Personally I feel 'warmer' is actually worse. I dont drink my coffee until its below 140 degrees anyway so lower temps are actually better.

I have the first model of mr coffee from 1972 model MC-1. It has separate switches for the brew cycle and hot plate! And it still works perfectly!😊
The modern one shown here is made cheaper because the hotplate and the brewing part share the same heating element, so no need for individual switches.
I think the guy from Technology Connections would like to interview you about it. Check out his channel and his drip machine videos.
You really have one still working from 1972? You have to make a video and call the company, wow

My choice is the Black and Decker Brew and go. Makes two cups in a travel mug. Brewed coffee àt 190 degrees F. I had two of them
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the unbelievable amount of effort you put into your videos.
Hey hit me me up🔝 I have something for you 👆 👆 👆
Just a note to anyone using drip coffee makers.. never use the heating plate or let the coffee sit on an active heating plate when its done - coffee burns - those plates DO burn the coffee, making your coffee vastly inferior. Do yourself a favor and either turn off the plate / machine when the coffee is done or remove the caraf from it. If you need to reheat the coffee later, use a microwave, it is much harder to burn coffee that way and will taste a LOT better.
Glad you made this cuz I need a new coffee pot the one I have was a original Amazon's choice but didn't see it on your list as you was on the site
Hey hit me me up🔝 👆 I have something for you 👆 👆 👆
For many years I used simple Melitta manul system.
Exactly right! That is why I’m looking for something like that so it can be kept cleaner.
I loved the sounds of the coffee makers the most! Thank you for this review! I have a Breville but it doesn't get hot enough.
I have a Ninja coffee bar. I absolutely love it! It came with a reusable filter, but it is a mess to clean out. I use paper filters instead.
Bought the 12 cup Mr. Coffee with auto off. Works great for me.

I have a Ninja too. My favorite thing about it is the removable water tank. We put filtered water from the fridge in it. The cleaning cycle on it is really nice too.
Thank you for addressing the Ninja. That’s the one I’m leaning toward buying so it will be easier to clean the water tank and know it’s clean.

A Bunn coffee maker will make 10 cups in 4 mins. It’s the only one that has a reservoir that holds water at 200° at all times so when you pour cold water in the hot water immediately comes out. My current one is 12 years old and going strong!

I don't know, I feel like you should've compared them all to the toaster
😂
My all time coffee maker is the B & D Thermal pot. If something went wrong with it there was
an outlet very close to me and would replace an item for free. Best ever IMO!! Thanks for the
reviews and your time. Anyone that is on YT knows about the scams. ☺☺
I so love all your reviews, I’ve bought some of the items you review… thanks
Usually I'm amused at the products you review, which usually aren't for me (except the awesome dog videos!). This however is up my alley! Another solid review. Could you do some tea makers as well?
Yes I would like a tea review also.
Then I can have it go off when it's bed time or if I have a time set I'm going out.
i spent $400 on my coffee maker and it doesn’t even turn itself off.
Haha!! Derp!
they saw you coming
$400 on a coffee maker?
Does the coffee maker also serve it to you for that price???
Honestly I hate when they turn off by themselves, I always have to hack them and disable the auto shut off.
Thanks for talking about Ninja. That’s the one I’m considering to purchase. Good to know it makes great coffee.
I have that 20 dollar Mr coffee. Love it.
The Cuisinart makes MUCH better coffee with a paper filter. I hate the metal filters. Gotta love the Dog Dad cup!
I like that the Cuisinart has a temperature setting. Maybe if they had that on the single serve version I wouldn't have switched it for a Keurig. I need it to stay hot after I add the creamer or it feels like I left it sitting too long.
Love to see you representing the UP!
Hey hit me me up🔝 👆 I have something for you 👆 👆 👆
We had the Cuisinart one.
My partner loves coffee so if she was living with me I'd have to buy a coffee machine!
no auto shutoff is a dealbreaker straight up. Good review!

Loved the cup collection! 😂
I just want to say thank you so much....for ALL you do....it's remarkable !
This may seem like a weird take, but hear me out on this:
I actually think that the temperature and brew pause of the 12 cup Mr Coffee can actually be seen as a big positive.
Coffee need to be brewed at a correct temperature ~ 195. a colder brew becomes flat tasteless and too hot will be bitter.
ESCANABA!!! My roots
I've had that Cuisinart for years and years and years. It's built to last. Auto-shut off is great to avoid burnt coffee.
