Utah is larger in area than Iceland and Denmark, smaller than Norway, Sweden and Finland. The population of Utah is smaller than any of the Nordics, except for Iceland which only has roughly 400 000 people. All the rest are over 5 million. Utah might be doing quite well in comparison.
Among other things one should notice that the Nordic 5 form a group under the Nordic Council and they all benefit from the success of others. The form of government and the political system is so similar that each country can fairly easily copy good solutions found by any of the countries. And the high level of trust within a country has no boundaries between the 5; we know we are among 'our people' in any of those countries.
I wonder how Utah would rank against these countries for happiness? Utah is probably bigger thah a bunch of these little countries
