According to some sources, the ZI-XA3 Crabman was completed in May UC70, but this enter in deep contradiction with Mobile Suit Illustrated 2003 (backed later by the manga Acguy Hakase) and the G20 tribute artbook, which both claim the competition and the ZI-XA1 (ancestor of the ZI-XA3 obviously) started in UC71, which invalidate the "UC70 Crabman claim". Still the design for the UC70 Crabman remain relevant as the form III Crabman is said to have received added armor to pass the walking tests (G20)

This is a very cool "ORIGIN" of mobile suits as a concept and thus the Titular Gundam in general. Would love to see a similar video for the M61 MBT, Guntank and Land Battleships of the OYW.
@@gundamfacts cool! as far as i can tell there is limited information on the land battleships so what about folding them into a special episode on Operation Odessa?
Nah dont worry, with the compiled information I have there is enough material for a video about Big Tray + variants, and another one for Dabude + variants
Also I appreciate your distinction between UC and Origins timelines, and that while Origins contains U.C. content it is not necessarily canon. A lot of people just lump Origin in with UC.
@@gundamfacts I haven't actually picked up Origins yet, but it's not the only Gundam media to contain contradictions and retcons. I view it as each title being like anything else in history: An account that is, at best, someone trying to piece together other people's accounts into something coherent. Of course, people's accounts contain only what they know, what they believe, and what they want you to believe-lies and propaganda are what they are, and the truth is always the first casualty of any war. And that doesn't apply only to the accounts the historian is trying to piece together, either. They too report what they know, believe, and want you to believe. A lot of inconsistencies and contradictions blur to nothing through that lens.
2:38 Oh my God!!! Those are MS-06FZ Zaku's ❤ This wasn't in Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. It's amazing seeing something so rare, such as United Maintenance Plan's best and most versatile Zaku KAI's all lined up on the production line.
Very funny to think when MS-06D is developed from MS-06J than Developing from MS-06F They're jumping from C type to F type and later created D type from J type that develop from F type And E type basically the same 😂
Actually, lead can over time be absorbed in the air and then find its way in the pilot system. Sure it would require a LONG time, and Normal suits would be an easy counter, but still.
@@gundamfacts that makes sense I hadn't really thought of that. I know lead is commonly used IRL even in radiation suits so I assumed it wouldn't be too much a problem as long as there is something between you and it.
Another great video! Though I was wondering about the MS-05 variants like the commander type and the Q variant. I heard conflicting reports that they were made before as either commander units before the OYW or as refits to keep the MS-05 relevant. Was this before or during the OYW and it’s impact in MS development, besides that I learned a lot of info.
If I remember well, the Q Type Zaku I is an attempt to refit some of the Zaku I in UC78, but the plan was abandoned after 30 units because the Zaku II was prioritized. As for the Commander Zaku I, it was created in the same year to act as an intermediary unit for some units since the Zaku II deployment was behind schedule, but wasn't really used before UC79. In the end, both came later than the regular Zaku II
@@gundamfacts interesting, good to know. I heard the project was restarted during the war to refit some Zaku-Is to the Q variant due to meet the demand on some pilots wanting Zaku I or Ace Pilots more used to that machine. Also in terms of stats does the Q match with the F or C type?
the origin time line is main uc as Bandi has said in a press meeting and a few time on forum post as it been asked so unless you going old uc vs new age UC time line then i under stand
Unfortunately it is not. Origin UC is based on Gundam the Origin manga, which has many differences with the Canon UC (UC79 TV series). Bandai isn't Sunrise even though the two companies have merged and their agenda still consider the Origin as a new version of OYW UC, as stated by multiple statements from Sunrise/Bandai on Japanese press meetings, and responses on Twitter.

Origin is a retelling of UC, a sort of twisted, sometimes better sometimes worse version of UC
When you mix it it just makes the show feel and have more lore even

Great history lesson, specially the part explaining why the mobile suits ended having a humanoid form
Very interesting video with the history! And great credits too! xD

Zaku II to Geara Zulu, "my son!"

The design of the AMBAC pod looks as if its designed by the mecha designer as if its also a precursor to the Zakrello Mobile Armor.
