Too be honest, I’m not sure why isn’t it just an expansion to SnowRunner. The base game could get a lot from this and it doesn’t look like a new game. It feels like modded game with custom maps.
You're right, especially as both games are said to share features going forward.
@@ATribeCalledCarsjust wondering,
why these features like Option to loosen the WINCH, Pressure of the Tyres, or the CUSTOM roofracks,
All these things + MANUALL Gearbox SHOULD have been in Snowrunner for 2 years already YET none have been still implemented
I think the problem of this game will be market split. Look, now there will be people who will play SR and another group that also plays Expeditions. We will have two games with two different speeds of development - that makes me worried because even SR alone isn't well maintained. Even for the purpose of co-op, it isn't a good idea to split game audiences. I think I've heard that E won't have co-op... Witch is a disaster. One of the coolest things that they can improve in SR is co-op play. There is a huge space to invent with co-op/multiplayer mode.
@@Tytus01UNIT i feel like they just wan t to leave Snowrunner slowly die and make peoples CASH GRAB on this "so called new game"
@kamgrus there is NO coop in exp. It says 'Offline Only' right in its description on PS store. 😑
I honestly cant get hyped about it. I cant shake the feeling that this isnt the best approach to it
It's early days but I think people will be pleasantly surprised. Maybe not the best approach though as you said.
@@ATribeCalledCars like, i would love a SR 2 with all the new features that Expeditions is adding and a more streamlined progression, but making a game only based on that, idk.
And that restriction of 3 (4?) Vehicles per map will not be well received after the freedom of SR.
@@rafalst I'm kind of with you on this. I'll wait to see the first looks when it comes out, but just at first glance is what it seems to have you doing dosent seem to get a fire going. It kinda feels lie busywork than actual accomplishments. Though I'm going to keep an open mind for it.
@@rafalst This is more of a off-road game not a delivery game if this was snowrunner 2 it would be way way to familiar and not enough jump
Scouting through difficult terrain was the only reason I loved snowrunner. I don’t like delivery games, like euro truck simulator. Super looking forward to expeditions
I feel most people wanted a modern mudrunner and instead we are getting arcade snowrunner
Same, this looks awfully arcade, as if they are only focusing on the puzzle part of the game and completely ignoring the more raw-ish offroad feel of MudRunners and Spintires. Pretty sad, SnowRunners was already a huge letdown
@@lucaprado544exactly, they shouldve went a more realistic simulation style direction adding a manual gearbox at the minimum instead they went the opposite way and added a bunch of game mechanics that have no basis in reality, like a metal detector and dangling your vehicle off 90 degree cliffs with a winch? Like really? And the drone as well, none of these things have anything to do with off roading
Yeah I’d rather have more like big contracts and deliveries revolved around lots of cargo. I don’t like the scouting stuff
Yep. Sadly they went for the same kind of over milked phisics that shows some flaws already on snow runner
@@lucaprado544 the russian maps were a great challenge; but yea, the rest of snowrunner has been a disappointment.
I feel like they should instead focus on "merging" mudrunner and snowrunner. The driving and car physics in mudrunner is far superior, but the gameplay of snowrunner is much more interesting.
Bring back manual gearbox, bodyflex and water deformation and refine the AI for towing. Then you've got a game that is far superior to what we have today
I view this as a Stand Alone Expansion Pack. I'm glad to see that game release type return. It can be an intro for people into the slower driving game type, who would otherwise skip the big truck-centric Snowrunner until they actually try it and enjoy it. I think it's a good move, if on the surface it seems unorthodox.
It is
I can't shake the feeling that it was originally intended to be a mobile version:
Smaller, limited maps ( linear missions with little variety and failure resulting in lost money makes it seem as if there were a way to purchase more "credits" with real money if you ran out- What happens if you can't afford to even take on an expedition anyway?
Bright, flashy paint-jobs and accessories giving a toy-like presentation to attract younger players who are accustomed to being robbed by cosmetic microtransactions.
The UI icons being much larger than the previous games suggests that they could have been meant to be more legible on a smaller screen, or even touch-screen activated.
And the fact that other than the Colorado and Arizona maps, which are indistinguishable from each other and a few new game mechanics, the game itself is indistinguishable from Snowrunner, and could simply have been DLC.
It makes it seem like they are shoe-horning the mobile, pay for everything scheme into it and separating it from Snowrunner in order to prevent it from ruining that game. I'm going to have to wait until there is a deep sale or until all of this is exposed a month or two after launch. I'm really deflated over this now; I had been looking forward to it. I really hope I'm wrong, but you can never be too sure these days.
I agree, there is a mobile game vibe (though the visuals are pretty great on PC). Definitely seems like it is trying to appeal to a younger market with a shorter attention span though I know my young nephew enjoys SnowRunner so was there much need? When I can use my own footage that should give a fairer representation.
@@ATribeCalledCars Looking forward to it. I always enjoy your perspective and they're not doing themselves any favors by limiting the footage.
the dumb thing is the vehicles feel the same they still jump around when driving over rocks that is so goooooofy
I agree, it feels like the vehicles have springs but no damping. Most of us abuse the accelerator though and theoretically I'd be hitting the bump stops if I drove that way on stock suspension. Would be nice to be able to tune damper settings so the rate of energy release from the springs is slowed down some.
I've heard that that's a thing that actually got alot better
@@modelenginerding6996 The physics of snowrunner are so basic they have absolutely no suspension coding, its so basic. The way the wheels spin is so basic, there's no tq, no actual diffs, everything is completely fake. Its such a bummer cause mudrunner felt so, so good to drive.
@@jonredcorn862well they obviously have SOME suspension programming....
They can easily add the push winch, tire inflator, and anchor(removable or non-removable) features to Snowrunner as a cross promotion update for the launch of Expeditions.
I suspect they will, it has been said that features from Expeditions will make it into SnowRunner. Though there has been no exact list.
Tire inflator sure. But Anchor seems a bit too arcady or unrealistic for my taste. Now, a truck addon you can 'consume' to deploy bridges, that'd be sick.
Looks disapoining. Was hoping for a more dynamic map. One of the things I really wanded to see in SR was a map you could change more. Not just adding a bridge and getting a animation of it being built, but the evironment changing more. Example: Who drives at night? Unless these a self imposed challenge, what is the point?
What about a map where certain routes are only viable due to the lower tempriture hardening ice on rivers/lakes etc? Mud getting a bit harder? Rain making mud harder to traverse, rocks more slippy. Extending turther, true seasons for maps, having to chnage routes based on time of year. Rivvers too deep to cross freeze and allowyou to drive over them, or become more shallow in summer.
Yes yes pls I have the same ideas for this game in addition to those collapsable brides due to the weight of your load and truck size. Storms cause fallen trees and rocks to block roads. Random npcs who drive just like you. Harder repairs to damaged vehicles. (Not just repair points repair might need time) winch cable durability.
Because games go mainstream and people are prolly on social media too much hearing from people who bitch about the graphics not being good enough. The majority of people sound off on wanting easier stuff...if it does well monetarily, it usually goes to shit.
Sadly they kept the arcadish physics from Snow Runner.. meh, I was still holding a little bit of hope that they could go back to the realistic feeling of Spin Tires, which was the game that made me fall in love.
I refuse to spend any money on this game until such a time that Sabre fixes all the random crashes in Snowrunner on the Xbox Series systems.
Agree. Its awful. Tried everything. Deleted 1500 hours and started fresh. Didnt help😢
I enjoyed scouting/exploring in small vehicles the most in snowrunner and mudrunner, so this has me excited. The larger vehicles are fun as well, it seems that some of them are in here too. looking forward to everything this game has to offer!
This Game Should have been a Snowrunner Expansion
but for that it should expand the game. but this just looks and feels like a more childish and toylooking snowrunner with mobile-like animations. and there is just nothing really new.
looks like a bad dlc at best. the joke is just that they praise it as a full game.
I'm all in this seems like a perfect evolution to me and they've done such great work I will happily support this franchise despite the widespread "should've been an expansion" my time playing Snowrunner during lockdown is absolutely a highlight of my gaming career.
My friend and I feel the funnest part of Snowrunner is the exploring and scouting, so Expeditions seems like it will deliver a lot more of that! I also like the greater financial management (and what sounds like) increased focus on strategic driving in this game. I'll buy it after Ben gives it a full review thumbs up!
Exactly
It's offline only though.. you realize that right? No co-op this time around..
I’m sure you liked Kola in SR then, since that map is all about exploration and scouting
PAW Patrol graphics. Does the roof mount acc. really have to look like alien tech?
everything has to look like overwatch and the other game.. i forgot the name but you know what i mean. its the same pisspoor child toy looking thing like all the other games.
@@kennythemeatthe other game being Fortnight?
@@YogiTheBearMan yes this is what i meant.
@@kennythemeatuhg.. yeah it would’ve been cool if they made the equipment look more realistic. Why does everything have to cater to goldfish attention spans these days.
I liked everything I had seen before, and your description of you need to "drive your vehicle well" makes me even more excited. I've been waiting for another quality, low speed, technical driving offroad game since Cabelas Offroad Adventures 1. Snowrunner was close, but all the quick winching removed 99% of wrecks when driving too fast or refusing to stop and pick a good line for rough obstacles(not to mention removed a lot of the challenge).
Use a steering wheel. It's much harder to spin the camera quickly in order to quick winch sideways.
looks a bit like a cashgrab
This is just Snowrunner without cargo delivery missions i.e. a stripped out version of SR. Hard pass.
Scouting through difficult terrain was the reason i loved snowrunner. Finally theyre taking out the annoying part of delivering. I find euro truck simulator so boring
@@Optimistas777 I also find ETS extremely boring bc it is NOTHING like Snowrunner. In Snowrunner you make deliveries on extremely difficult terrain. Also looks like you're the target audience for Expeditions, good luck with that, it's a hard pass for me.
I appreciate how you started this review with "I said yes because it made good financial sense", heheh.
All this talk about racks and bumpers has me excited for Expeditions. Looks interesting, can’t wait for more info, thanks for sharing 👍
This looks exactly like snowrunner
this would lack content even for a dlc for snowrunner. i still think its a joke. it looks exactly as snowrunner but with useless features like goggles(zoom) and a drone(freecam) but with way less terrain deformation and way more clipping.
which is why i will keep my original mudrunner
- This is a hard climb! You should do exactly like this to make it! Modern gaming.... going back to Mudrunner.
True..
Same TBF Didnt Look Bad In The Trailer But They Could Of Added It To SR Rather Than Making A New Game
They may have made engine changes to allow for the new features. It wouldn't make sense to try to port the whole game to that new engine when it could be a standalone game.
@@182ndNegociator but for a standalone game you need uniqe features and new gameplay. there is just nothing really new at all.
the goggles? useless and a joke
building bridges with the mobile app looking animation and it hust plops in? its a joke, right???
rock crawling? looks the same as snowrunner, noi difference at all.
if you want to rock crawl take a look at beamngdrive!
a mobile anchor for the winch? for what?
a drone? its just a flying camera perspective whith noise and a prop animation. whats new about it? i have a free camera in snowrunner. looks the same!
@182ndNegociator Sabre did say, though without specifying, some features would get backported to SnowRunner.
It's good to see you doing the damn thing man, I'm proud of you.
Cheers my dears!
Spintires Legacy for life !
Can't wait for this to come out I am having an ankle operation around the time of the release date with 6 weeks in a cast so I know what I will be doing while I'm off my feet.
I am really looking forward to this!
Imagine a sandbox where you scout a landscape, then seismic it for whatever reason, then work out main trunk routes that are effective, then bring in the heavy boys, do the mining, then do the delivering, then do the road construction, the building erecting etc, and end up with a functioning community. Then move onto your next more difficult sandbox..... I feel like this game will tease me and I’ll never reach satisfaction.
I am guessing the developers watched Matt's Off-road Recovery and want a slice of that action
Oh yeah. I'd buy DLC for a licensed banana, morvair, and wrecker. ..as bad a 3 letter word DLC is, I'd still buy it.
Oh man. That Wrecker as. DLC? Shut up and take my money! I actually really want some trucks from Mad Max Fury Road while we’re at it.
Scouting around was always my favorite part of Snowrunner and Mudrunner. I don't know why people thought this game was gonna be bad.
cuz the gameplay just look so damn boring, scout, scout and scout some more.
@@3nity89 Still looks and sounds boring
@3nity89 wait until you see the more delivery direction games 😂
@@theclaudeqc3rdone290 give me snowrunner 2 and im happy
Saber needs to fix snowrunner on Xbox before I even consider buying another of their game. The game has been unplayable for months.
Agree😢. 1500 hours down the drain
I do love the scouting in Snowrunner, unlocking towers. But after that, the real game begins. I will get this, but it feels like it is only half a game. I hope a full game comes after
We need "push" winch option for snowrunner too. Well we kinda have one but its only for the crane
Thanks for the info.
So when will snowrunner have crashing on xbox series x/s or multiplayer be fixed?
I still have so many Snowrunner missions to complete before I can even think about buying Expeditions. But thanks for your exellent review.
Seems like an update made into a whole game like mw3
Thanks for the info!
You always 🤘Rock🤘
This whole series has driven me nuts. When i was a kid i was finally able to buy spintires with chore money and ofc i bought it after i found out the publisher screwed the dev, so i saved up and Mudrunner was already out. When i finally got around to buying Mudrunner, Snowrunner was already out. Now that im getting ready to buy Snowrunner ofc theres a new game lmao. Not complaining i love these games but damn im always a step behind
One thing you dont mention is multiplayer. From what ive read expeditions will be adding co op multiplayer a few months after launch. Nothing like driving with friends in snowrunner. Im extremely excited for expeditions even though it will be a different experience
I'm viewing this as a taste of things to come, a test bed for the next snow runner, I'll probably check it out despite not really appreciating the trial maps in snow runner, this is clearly a new game engine albeit using some existing assets but with a lot of new details in terms of ui interface and abilities that will likely be implemented in the next snow runner game.
FOB is Forward Operation Base - used in the military
Indeed. FAB however has no meaning, as admitted by the Thunderbirds creator lol.
Thanks for the review. Interesting but not something I’m remotely interested in. I like how there is no set way to play Snowrunner. I love how I can literally being doing multiple contracts and tasks at a time. Expeditions looks like it’s too linear… I like doing multiple things at a time in the order I choose. And no cargo? No thanks. Thanks for the review tho!
Should’ve just been a snowrunner dlc tbf
Then y'all would've complained "this isn't showrunner there's no deliveries waaahh" sabre can't win can they
Agreed
It does boggle my mind....boggles my mind a LOT!
Not exactly what I was hoping for but looks alright I guess, although I'm not spending another dollar on any sabre games till they fix the crashing issues on snowrunner xbox version, I purchased all dlc on that game now I cant even play it for more than 2 mins without it crashing
I’m new to the series, Snowrunner is the only game Ive played in it
My favorite part is the giant trailers I have to deliver and manage to get down narrow roads. I really think I’ll miss that
Hi ! What about wheel compatibility ? Had to stop Snowrunner cause I changed my G29 for a DD...sad that in 2023 and now 2024, USB devices can't be fully recognized and binded...tells a lot on developpement "efforts" that are put in...I hope this Snowrunner DLC will change that, instead of making us regret a 2017 Mudrunner. After all, they re-used the name, didn't they :p
Thanks for the video !
The winch options alone make me excited to see if A Truck Can Crawl.
It's a neat addition! And I enjoyed the ATCC reference...
@@ATribeCalledCars it's been a while since I made such a reference, glad to be back.
I dunno what Colorado they're in, because that footage is of either Utah, Arizona, or parts of New Mexico. Last I checked, Colorado is pretty devoid of craggy, arid canyon wastelands.
Saber: Its not SPIN TIRES its "Revolving Wheels"
lol
I’m interested. May not buy it right away, but it’s cool.
How would you rate the gearbox? Will it stay in gear and bog down when it should downshift or have they improved that? Also, does the truck stop when you lift off the throttle or does it keep rolling freely? These are the issues I have with SR.
Well, it certainly looks better than I expected. Thanks for the review.
I just hope it doesn't crash like Snowrunner currently does on Xbox X. I really want to pre-order for my boys and I but we'll have to see.
No issues on PC but SnowRunner is fine too. I'll be asking for an Xbox code for my review.
Glad to hear that it’s on Ps4, it looks like a interesting game.
No from me, to much copy & paste but less freedom to be worth a full game price
Full price game? It's 40 bucks though
@@chaoticzer0 still an expensive DLC ;-)
@@chaoticzer0 £5 or a £100 its the principle, tje whole problem with the industryos unfinished titles with little effort put in & folk hovver it up on pre-order ciz they get a skin for a vehicle, untill we push back they will continue to do this
@@zlatanragnar7120 until people start voting with their wallet it won't stop
Hard to get hyped when this is the studio who thinks it's acceptable for the xbox version to be unplayable for months
They need to make a snowrunner MMO, add traffic and pedestrians, events like races etc... Boom
sounds like Forza Horizon, but with Snowrunner/Mudrunner mechanics
a cool idea would be massive open word map , destructive and constructive environment , at least 20 or more players per server and you are competing for jobs and contracts , it would be cool if you pass by someone with a trailer that's stuck and maybe you can help them for a fee or you could just keep going as it could mean more jobs for you and other things like that , what if we could build our own little projects , you could own a farm or saw mill , do trading with other players for materials , each server has a certain amount of vehicles so you are more inclined to work with others , i have lots of more ideas too
🎉 congratulations on another great video!
PC User and have played all three (SpinTires, MudRunner and SnowRunner) games and have spent a lot of hours on them all. I just hope mods are going to be aloud in this one too.
I am somewhat lukewarm on this so far. I like the new features being tried and the non-scout vehicles give me hope but the expeditions concept makes me think of being cash strapped until late game and as someone who doesn't have a lot of free time to game I don't want to feel most of the time like I am going through hell just to afford some bit of essential equipment. I plan on waiting on this title for a few months just to see which way the wind will blow it.
What does the map look like ?
Is it the same small square map layout ....or random shaped bigger maps ?
(please let it be this one)
Thank you for the info & video
✌️🙂
This should be an upgrade to SnowRunner, fixing the driving physics and giving us new areas and ways to rock crawl and have fun.
Ordered supreme 😍
Nice, hopefully you enjoy!
so the different versions offer different things right? can you get base game and still unlock all the stuff you say is offered in the more expensive versions?
I would assume not because it would remove the incentive to pay more.
And yet no manual gearbox... After the fact that it was solved, not by the gane developers, but by a mod... Well done Saber... Well done...
I've been playing snowrunner a lot in multiplayer mode with a friend, now I think it's strange that this game doesn't have a cooperative mode, if you play alone it all the time ends up getting boring.
Another thing I missed is the vehicle's gearshift system, which is not adapted for steering wheels.
yeah , without multiplayer its no fun at all.
The lack of co-op is weird but could be related to issues on Xbox. If resolved, maybe it will be added further down the line. Just a theory...
I have over 1400 hours in SnowRunner and I've never loaded Co-Op once. Ever. Everybody's different bro 🤷♂️.
I'll be honest I'm not excited for this even tho I'm a massive Snowrunner fan
Looks interesting
Definitely nice taking it steady, route finding and crawling over rocks.
I'm genuinely excited - I love Snowrunner and still play it regularly today. I'm apprehensive to the UI. It looks clunky as hell and the HUD looks like it was ripped straight from a mobile game. But it's something I can overlook and if they have an 'immersive' mode, it won't matter anyways.
I would have preferred a Snowrunner 2 or Mudrunner 2. Regardless, looking forward to the game.
I have this pre-ordered for switch
we need a trial game with this engine.. pleeeeaaase!!!!
Maybe I'll be able to play this runner game on my series x cause I can't play snowrunner anymore without it crashing
As much as I like Snowrunner I'm bit not sure for that yet. I'm surprised they changed controls. But my big question is , will modders will be free to add content same as in Snowrunner? Because for me basic trucks in Snowrunner were bad and by time needed to find all upgrades I've lost my voice few times cursing 😁
This game might not appeal much to Snowrunner players, but it might for other people. From the POV of someone who’s never heard of the spintires series, this looks quite an interesting game about off roading and exploration, but without the tedious and repetitive aspect of cargo hauling. This one will appeal to a much larger playerbase than Snowrunner if you ask me
0:40 "So here we are, going live with my thoughts and insights into this SnowRunner spin-off. At least, based on a preview version with relatively few tasks available and the proviso that I had to use footage given to me and not record my own. Hence why you will see other UA-camrs using the same gameplay."
Now, this is nothing against you Tribe. But I've already been burned by Saber once with the purchase of Dakar Desert Rally, and this doesn't sound good in my opinion. Is this going to be another buggy glitchy mess, missing all the showcased content at launch. With fixes, and content promised through updates only to be abandoned a year later after they have made their money and it's to late for a refund?
Dakar Desert Rally with my first experience with Saber, it wasn't a good one. And first impressions leave a lasting mark.
Better to be safe about it(as with every modern video game:) don't get excited and don't preorder. If you're hesitant about something, just don't until you know. No reason to rush...there's a million good games out there..old ones mainly. Just don't get shammed like so many do :/
Look at all that gross smoke out of the rear.
I hope they backport the modular roofrack stuff to Snowrunner. Also let me put stuff in the trunk or bed of scouts
Supposedly it will happen, but no official announcement yet.
Looks like the off road mechanic need abit of love just like BeamNG !
Expeditions isn’t exactly what I would expect from a spinoff, but it looks good. As long as the game doesn’t affect SnowRunner (or a SnowRunner sequel), I’ll happily play both.
lol - "not F.A.B". I used to love that movie when i was a kid.
Mudrunner and snowrunner have saved my life.
The one game I’ve sunk hours into and have come back to!
God bless doom, snowrunner and shreddars. 🙏😇🍑🍆🤟
I’m in two minds whether to pre order this or not. I’m reading the comments and having to agree with the vast majority, but at the same time, we haven’t fully seen the gameplay and it could be much better than we thought. Not sure which way to go tbh.
I think the gameplay supplied does not really show the vibe when playing, it plays better than it looks but the limited number of tasks makes it hard to assess whether it will get repetitive.
@@ATribeCalledCars I’m leaning towards pre-ordering but may just go with the standard edition, that way I’m not paying all sorts if it’s not as I’d hoped.
@@ATribeCalledCars well I caved and pre-ordered it 😂 there’s more to this game than meets the eye. I think it’s gonna be good.
What's with the thick exhaust trail? Is that necessary, are we on another planet?
snowrunner is the spin off mudrunner is the og. it was called spintires mudrunners
This gives me a Riders Republic vibe. I don't know how to feel about it lol.
Hopefully with my own gameplay footage in the near future it will be easier to tell if it's good or not.
snowrunner looks better than this, this feels lazy
It is also supported on Switch
But will my Moza pedals even work with this one or will it be like Snowrunner?
Why don’t the gameplay look anything like the pictures we have seen of gameplay? 😢
You mean the stuff seen in the trailer?
I hope the tree physics will be better😂
Eta freaking gooooo
😮😮😮 look interesting
It's a nice change of pace but I am wondering how long it will last.
@ATribeCalledCars only when we get the full release we will know I hope some of those addone get in snowrunner specially the custom bed, roof rack and low tyre pressure system
It somehow makes me sad to not see these cool features in Snowrunner too. I feel like, they slowly let Snowrunner die.
Very nice video you made, I subscribed to your channel, we are a group from Greece who play snwrunner, we would like to ask you if the game plays with Logitech G29 and if we can play with mod, thanks. (Google translation)
Thank you and hello from London! I believe it does work though I would do a quick Google just in case a recent update broke things. There is a manual mod, if that is what you mean. General mods within the game (trucks, maps etc) should work fine too.
Well bought this on the PS5 and it's the same off-road simcade like Snow Runner but far way behind Mud Runner / Spintires. New concepts looks interesting but there's some terrain glitches like water high grass who push your car up unrealistically what's one of the worst experience as well lacking of terrain textures loading or not loading properly. As a daily truck driver on the construction sites I can write that in terms of the realism Mud Runner is the best and this game needs more patches especially terrain.
Had anyone tested this with an AMD 6xxx series GPU? Is the terrain glitch carried over?
Unfortunately not me and I don't know who else has played with that card series, but then I guess you could look at other UA-camrs who've played. Might have similar hardware.
Whoa
