The differences are subtle to be certain. I've been a DiMarzio player for decades, first a PAF Pro then an Evolution (both in Jems), over a decade playing Super-Distortions and just recently switched to Fred's this past year. Our band got a new bass player that has more midrange in his sound than our last guy and it made part of my sound disappear-- no amount of EQ tweeks could compensate but then I brought in a Strat with a Fred and it was perfect right out of the gate. I have 'em in all my alder Strats now and love it. Thinking of trying a Mo Jo Fred in my Les Paul next... Great video!!!
Nice, thanks for posting! Very helpful…I kinda like the added fatness of the mo’joe. That said, I have a Fred/Paf pro set incoming for a project…will see how that goes
I have Fred in one guitar, PAF Pro in another. Mo Joe feels a bit like both of them, and I like it. Very much. Versatile. It would be nice to try MoJoe in one guitar and see what the opinion would be in the long run. Right now the PAF Pro is my favourite with Dimarzio.
After listening w/$250 headphones: Fred more classic sounding warm and fuzzy goodness. mo joe cleaner, more clarity, note definition, modern sounding. Its a tough call. I like mo joe bottom end and Fred middle and top end. Since I'm more of a lead player I think Fred takes it for lead and probably more versatile whereas mo joe modern sounding and more articulate almost yjm sounding. Either one really! Shit this a tough one 😂.

I enjoyed your awesome demo. In Part 2 Fred wins for the solos, but the Mo Joe is better for power chords. Part 1 was a close contest though.
My sentiments exactly. I have all of Joe’s pickups and the Fred and Mo’Joe are my favorites.
Fred is nice for soloïng, typical Dimarzio sound signature. Moe joe suck and sound muffled and unatural.
